OPP Union Defends Rahim Jaffer Investigation – What do you think Canada? April 18, 2010

Cornwall ON – It sounds like the OPP are not too pleased to read that they are alleged to be the cause for the wrist slapping of former MP Rahim Jaffer as some media reports are stating.

The Union would like to see some reports and documentation supporting the theory.

“Our members conducted a thorough, professional and detailed investigation,” Karl Walsh, president of the Ontario Provincial Police Association, said in a statement Thursday. “They were prepared to have their evidence tested at court but were never given the opportunity.”

If there is a question about whether or not police obtained the drugs appropriately, Walsh said Jaffer should file a complaint that his Charter rights were violated. “Under these circumstances, any suggestion of a Charter violation should have been heard in open court.”

Can’t argue that point?  I mean police suffer enough bad press without being tainted by this political cover up and/or deal, right?

  1. What a surprise, the police being used as a scapegoat.. when we all know strings were pulled somewhere.. I keep saying, no wonder Harper is distancing himself. I bet he knew a lot of what was going on long ago. I bet he knows full well how Jaffer got the light slap on the wrist as well!
