Chicago Wins Stanley Cup for first time since 1961 in 4-3 OT Game Six NHL Final Win – Cornwall Ontario – June 10, 2010

Cornwall ON – It took over 16 minutes to open up the scoring, but Dustin Byfuglien opened the gates and the Chicago Blackhawks have won Lord Stanley’s Cup for the first time since 1961 by the score of 4-3 in overtime.

Patrick Kane scored his 10th of the playoffs to win it all and end the NHL season.   The Flyers, underdogs in the series had tied the series at 2 games a piece before succumbing to Chicago’s high octane offense.

The Hawks outshot the Philadelphia 41-24 in Philly.  Patrick Kane had 3 points for Chicago and Patrick Sharp was a +3 for the night.  Captain Jonathan Toews raised the cup after recording 5 shots on net.

Michael Leighton took the loss.

Now the partying begins and then the questions will start. As good as this Chicago team has been this year sadly many of its parts will have to be dismantled in the Salary cap age, but for today it’s party time and no city knows how to party better than Chicago!

I guess there is still hope for Toronto.

  2. More proof that the Leafs really stink.

  3. For the first time in 49 years, Chicago deserved that. They showed that they were the best this season.

  4. Woohoo!! At least they beat the Flyers! 😀
