  1. I haven’t seen any Canada Day greetings from our MP Mr. Lauzon yet.

Is his office just tardy or did he forget us again?

    Hi Reg,

I’ve sent Mr. Lauzon three emails. An initial one, a follow up reminder, and today stating that it’d be nice if he’d join our MPP Mr. Brownell, and Mayor (along with our distinguished City Council) in greeting the more than 20,000 viewers of our fine Newspaper and Radio station a fine Canada Day.

    Perhaps he’s busy???

  3. He probably couldn’t get authorization from Mr. Harper.

  4. Yeah, he’s busy spending more of our money to send out his propaganda newsletter again… I predict at least 8 pages or more.. probably going to tell us how productive the G20 was (not). But yeah, its disgraceful that he cannot join in, even for the birthday of our country!

  5. Or maybe he had to fill out one of those “MER” forms or whatever they were, so that he can be allowed by the PMO to greet us with a Happy Canada Day message, since we know he cannot speak for himself…

  6. Tax his land,
    Tax his bed,
    Tax the table
    At which he’s fed.

    Tax his work,
    Tax his pay,
    He works for peanuts
    Anyway!

    Tax his cow,
    Tax his goat,
    Tax his pants,
    Tax his coat.

    Tax his tobacco,
    Tax his drink,
    Tax him if he
    Tries to think.

    Tax his car,
    Tax his gas,
    Find other ways
    To tax his ass.

    Tax all he has
    Then let him know
    That you won’t be done
    Till he has no dough.

    When he screams and hollers;
    Then tax him some more,
    Tax him till
    He’s good and sore.

    Then tax his coffin,
    Tax his grave,
    Tax the sod in
    Which he’s laid.

    When he’s gone,
    Do not relax,
    Its time to apply
    The inheritance tax.

STILL THINK THIS IS FUNNY? Not one of these taxes existed 60 years ago, & our nation was one of the most prosperous in the world. We had absolutely no national debt, had a large middle class, and Mom stayed home to raise the kids.

What in “Hell” happened? Can you spell ‘politicians?’

I hope this goes around CANADA at least 100 times. YOU can help it get there. GO AHEAD – – – be a CANADIAN

  7. Happy Canada Day Everyone

It is not only the politicians to blame, but our own personal greed as well. 60 years ago things like TV, cars and world travel was a rare commodity and something cherished.

Now we all believe it’s our right to own one. Courtesy of that mom now has to work thus adding more people to the work force causing commodity costs to be modified to suit. There is a long link that places the blame on our own greed having caused the costs, taxes and fees we now pay.

However in short we can call it democracy.
We have fought tooth and nail for our right to have and to dictate independent issues and special interests with no concern about accountability. The governments provided and let us have our way, For the most part.

The man or, politicians, if you will, now reap the rewards of our own greed. However if they take a stand someone will always accuse them of wrong doing. Media will often give their opinion of what’s happening but rarely the truth and never ever done via research journalism. I was once interviewed by CBC about a plant closure in Cornwall. We discussed the line of questioning the events that happened and the interview began at which point I was lead by questions. I inquired how much would be on the air and the journalist explained “Most of it will be on the cutting room floor”. In viewing the final clip on the evening news, it had been modified significantly.

Currently Harper is solely responsible for trying to clean up decades of frivolous and care free Liberal spending. Combined with a country having its major infrastructure of liberal design Mr Harper is going to have a difficult time.
Just ask yourself, how could the liberals have accomplished the spending while maintaining health care and other public necessities with out taxing us? Where does the money come from??

I certainly agree we need taxes. However, after the fiasco’s with the Ministry of Health, The OLG and Cancer Canada, I believe that these Ministries need to conduct annual audits. It is how the tax dollars are spent the bother the average Canadian. As for living in a democracy, i feel that we lost.

  10. Loan Sharks?

  11. Jim Brownell comes through again, it is very nice that he sent us greetings…as a strong Conservative, I must admit, Jims a good guy and he’s a hard worker. BUT his boss sucks!

  12. Author

Tammy at least Mr. Brownell greeted the 20,000+ monthly viewers of The Cornwall Free News on Canada Day. That’s more than we can say for our MP who has not responded to three offers for him to share his greetings on our most national of holidays.

  13. Well admin, you can slash Lauzon all you want but I think you have displayed how low your expectations are when it comes to politics. Again all Jim has done is the same as Syd and Andre, he showed up.

As for Guy, the oragn grinder has not cut the leash on his Monkey no doubt, or maybe he is repeating an event from the past. Could he be handing out Canadian flags again for Canada Day? We all know the flags I mean, The flags marked made in Taiwan

  14. Author

smee Mr. Harper’s reps always return my queries. This has nothing to do about any leash; I’m thinking more about class or lack thereof of Mr. Lauzon and his respect for the people of this area.

  15. Jamie, what can I say? Did you and Guy Lauzon have a pow wow at one time?

  16. The Lauzon puppet did put a “Happy Canada Day” greeting in the Standard Freeholder (no doubt paid for with tax payer dollars). I guess boycotting the Cornwall Free News shows his contempt for the readers of this fine journal.

  17. Author

Tammy I went into Guy’s office, with the door shut and his assistant present. We shook hands. If his skin is so thin and he’s still wounded by the pigeon photo…well what can I say.

This isn’t about his feelings for me or mine for his. This is about Canada Day and the viewers of our newspaper, and as you can tell by you yourself reading these words there are quite a few Guy Lauzon supporters that he’s snubbed.

And we didn’t charge any of the politicians that wanted to send their greetings like other media do so it certainly wasn’t about Mr. Lauzon not wanting to put money in this company’s pockets and he was notified THREE times and still has not offered his greetings to the 20,000 plus readers a month that we get.

  18. Jamie, I must be honest I am not impressed with Guy on this one.
Cornwall Free News is a great. I’m having a good time anyway! That’s all that counts.

  19. Author

Thank you very much Tammy. One of the goals when we started this newspaper was to have a place where dialogue could take place without abuse and that our soapbox would be open to all. Of course if you stand on a soapbox you really can’t complain if someone throws a tomato at you, but you should have your turn if you’re brave enough to say what you want to.

Happy Canada Day to all who read our humble paper; even those that don’t agree with me 🙂

  20. Who gives a GD about politicians. Those scoundrels that would claim Canada as their own.

This land was happily without a name or politicians for millennia. And was long a refuge for people anxious to leave the wars, poverty and all the rest that the old world’s politics caused.

Help make politicians history and… enjoy a pleasant Dominion Day.

  21. The soap bax should’t have a draw string like other news papers what do you think Jamie?
