Federal Green Party numbers up under Elizabeth May – Is Canada ready for a Green MP? Cornwall Ontario – September 30, 2010

Cornwall ON – If APATHY were a candidate in the last election Canada may just have had a majority government.   Green party leader Elizabeth May is  ready to explain the rise in the Green Party numbers across Canada in a recent Globe & Mail article.

“I think the surge in Green support is partly disgust with the current state of politics, but it is more than ‘parking’ and more than a protest vote,” she said. “Canadians are increasingly really excited about how it would improve Parliament to elect Greens.”

I say water bombers to help fight forest fires due to climate change instead of fighter bombers for wars we’ll never fight and never should.   The environment is more than just trees and water.  It’s our cities, our farms and farmers, and everything around us.   It’s time we treated our country better and stop abusing the voters and taxpayers of Canada.

What do you think Canada?  Is it vote parking or are more voters simply fed up in the same infighting and abuse of public tax dollars?  You can post your comments below.

  1. The surge in Green Party is not a showing of a better government but frustration with the people we have. Add to that poor media relations and relatively uneducated population and we have the green party

  2. From what I can decipher of smee’s post, smee thinks the Green Party comprises of the unwashed, uneducated masses. Get a life smee!

  3. I figured out there was something wrong decades ago, just from watching question period. Now when I look at the other two countries (the only remaining with the same model of governemtne as we have), England and Australia, I realize that democracy as we manage it is broken. Parties serve themselves not the nation. If an election were to be held now and not one incumbents got in we might get a chance to do something. Since that cannot happen that quickly or easily I have to go with the Green Party. They seem to be the only party that is focused on real change.

  4. the truth is that the green party is the fastest growing party in canada, and its supporters demographics are young succesful profesionals and disgruntled major party defectors as well as independants
