Akwesasne Warriors Win Four Straight – by Jason Setnyk – November 7, 2010

Cornwall ON – After losing their opening game, The Akwesasne Warriors of the newly formed Federal Hockey League (FHL) have won 4 straight games. The offence of the Warriors has been on fire thanks in large part to star forward Pierre Dagenais who stands in at 6’5 and 215lbs.

The acquisition of Dagenais, by Akwesasne Warriors General Manager Mike Piquette, was a crucial move. Dagenais, the former NHL player, has 9 goals and 8 assist in 5 games as a Warrior.

Pierre Dagenais who was drafted by the New Jersey Devils in 1998, played NHL hockey with New Jersey, as well as with the Florida Panthers, and finally with the Montreal Canadiens in his home province of Quebec.

Dagenais had 58 points in 142 career NHL games. He was a strong offensive player in the AHL for the Hamilton Bulldogs and the Albany River Rats, and in his youth he amassed 133 points in his final season in the QMJHL.

After playing his final NHL season with the Montreal Canadians in 2005-2006, Dagenais played in Europe for the past five seasons. He played two years in Austria, one year in Finland, and his last two seasons in Russia’s KHL.
