Akwesasne Toastmasters Club Formed – New Charter Meeting Held at Akwesasne Mohawk Casino – November 10, 2010

Akwesasne Mohawk Territory – Wednesday night there was a charter party for another group of Toast Masters.    It was a bit different than most because it occurred in Akwesasne.      Toast Masters and Native Culture are a good mix.    Aural traditions are heavy in the history and way of life of the Mohawk people, and watching this mix of history with skills from recent history were interesting to watch and participate in.

Jason MacDonald is the first president of the group which contains many leaders including one Chief.   The group is also open to members from all over the area, and I can tell you first hand that they are a warm and very friendly group of people.  There were people from as far away as Ottawa attending.

Brendan White, pictured right, won the first award ribbon for his Oratory on the evening.
