Habs Lose Again – 4-1 to Tampa Bay – Leafs Lose NHL Scores – December 30, 2010 – Cornwall Ontario

Cornwall ON – Well the Habs have their new Defenceman, but still are playing like….smoked meat.

They’re tinkering with falling out of eight place in the conference.    According to the rumor mills, GM Pierre Gauthier is working on another blockbuster deal, but it’s a tough market out there.

Montreal isn’t like Ottawa which is primed for a rebuild; or Toronto, which seems to be eternally rebuilding.

The Habs had a great play off run last year and still have some great play off horses.   Of course if you don’t make the play offs having those horses won’t do you a whole lot of good.

Tonight’s game versus a hot Tampa Bay team saw the debut of James Wisniewski.   Josh Gorges is resting his knee a bit longer which also meant that both PK Subban and Yannick Weber made the lineup.   What was apparent was that Montreal had no solution for Steve Stamkos who notched 4 points while only playing 15 minutes on the evening.    That’s not good.

Max Pacioretty scored the lone Hab goal for the evening with Tampa potting 4 as of press time.

In other NHL Scores:

Columbus nipped the Leafs 3-2;   Atlanta did the Habs a favor and minutely edged Boston 3-2 in the shoot out; San Jose defeated rival Chicago Black Hawks 5-3; Colorado greased by Edmonton in the shoot out 4-3, Philadelphia crowned the Kings 7-4.

In the interesting rumor department I read one blogger throw out an Iginla to Pittsburgh for Malkin with assorted draft picks and plugs.   Interesting thought and very cap sensitive.     Would you make that deal if you were either team?  You can post your comments below.

  1. Great photo! Schwartz’s is about the only reason I’d ever go to Montreal.
