ROBBERY INVESTIGATION

Cornwall, Ont. – The Cornwall Community Police Service is investigating a robbery which took place on January 31st, 2010 at 06:35 hours at an Eleventh Street East long term care facility parking lot.  It is alleged that a lone male approached a female from behind and stole her purse and belongings.  The female was uninjured.  The male is described as follows:

Physical descriptors:

5’9 to 5’10
slim build

Wearing a dark coloured coat and a face cover

Spoke English, speech slurred

ROBBERY

Cornwall, Ont. – Two people have been arrested in conjunction with a robbery which occurred on December 30th, 2010 at a Cornwallis Avenue residence.  It is alleged that the male and female entered the residence, assaulted the owner and demanded the home owner’s debit card and PIN (personal identification number).  The victim did not require medical attention for his injury.  Police were contacted and an investigation resulted in the following:

Darrin Thomas Scott, 43, of Cornwall was arrested on the 30th of January, 2011 for 1 count of Robbery and 1 count of Breach of Probation for Failing to Keep the Peace and be of Good Behaviour.   He was held in custody until court the following day.

Amanda Lee Lalonde, 26, of Cornwall was arrested on the 27th of January, 2011 for 1 count of Robbery.  She was released to appear in court at a later date.

The investigation is still on-going.

THEFT UNDER $5,000.00

Cornwall, Ont. – Patrick Victor Fraser, 24, of Cornwall was arrested on the 01st of February, 2011 following a shoplifting incident.  It is alleged that on the offence date, he entered a Water Street East sports store, stole merchandise and left the store.  Police were contacted and while investigating the theft, police observed the male walk by the store.  The male was arrested for 1 count of Theft Under $5,000.00 and he was released to appear in court on the 24th of March, 2011 to answer to the charge.

BREACH OF RECOGNIZANCE

Cornwall, Ont. – Kelly Robert Cameron, 35, of Cornwall was arrested on the 01st of February, 2011 for breaching his conditions.  He was bound by a Recognizance Order with conditions to Abstain from the consumption of alcohol or to be Found where alcohol is sold.  On the offence date, police located the male in a licenced establishment consuming alcohol.  He was arrested for 2 counts of Breach of Recognizance and held in custody until court the following day.

ASSAULT and THREATS

Cornwall, Ont. – A 37 year-old Cornwall female was arrested on the 01st of February, 2011 following a domestic disturbance.  It is alleged that during an argument with her 57 year-old ex-boyfriend she assaulted him.  He did not require medical attention for his injuries.  Police further allege that on two separate occasions between January 26th and the offence date, she threatened to kill him.  Police were contacted and an investigation into the matter resulted in the female facing 1 count of Assault and 2 counts of Utter Death Threats.  She was held in custody until court.  Her name is not being released as it may identify the victim in this incident.

CRIMINAL HARASSMENT

Cornwall, Ont. – A 25 year-old Cornwall male was arrested on the 01st of February, 2011 following a criminal harassment investigation.  Between October 31st, 2010 and January 23rd, 2011 the male made repeated contact with his 21-year-old ex-girlfriend after receiving warnings from police.  As a result of the ongoing harassment, the male was arrested and charged accordingly.  He was released to appear in court on the 17th of February, 2011 to answer to the charge.  His name is not being released as it may identify the victim in this incident.

IMPAIRED OPERATION OF A MOTOR VEHICLE

Cornwall, Ont. – Heather Ann Thomas, 25, of Akwesasne was arrested in the early hours of February 2nd, 2011 while entering Canada through the Cornwall Point of Entry.  It is alleged that she operated a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol.  She was arrested by a member of the Canada Border Services Agency and detained until the arrival of a member of the Cornwall Community Police Service.  She was transported to the Cornwall Police Headquarters for testing.  She is facing 1 count of Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle and 1 count of Over .80.  She was released to appear in court on the 29th of March, 2011 to answer to the charges.

FAIL TO COMPLY

Cornwall, Ont. – A 17 year-old Snye Quebec male was arrested on the 27th of January, 2011.  It is alleged that he communicated with a female when he was bound by a non-communication order.  He was arrested and held in custody for Fail to Comply.  His name is withheld due to provisions under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

THEFT and BREACHES

Cornwall, Ont. – Lise Dorothy Dufresne, 44, of No Fixed Address was arrested on the 31st of January, 2011 following a shoplifting incident.  The female was bound by an Undertaking Order with conditions to Notify the Cornwall Community Police Service of a change of address and to Keep the Peace and be of Good Behaviour.  It is alleged that sometime between January 22nd and January 24th, the female stole her room-mate’s property.  Police were contacted and an investigation commenced.  It is further alleged that on January 31st, the female entered a Second Street East department store and stole merchandise.  She was arrested by the store’s Loss Prevention Officer.  Police attended and she is facing 2 counts of Theft Under $5,000.00 and 3 counts of Breach of Undertaking.  She was held in custody until court to answer to the charges.

FAIL TO APPEAR, THEFT and BREACHES

Cornwall, Ont. – Lucien Ronnie Lepage, 38, of Cornwall was arrested on the 31st of January, 2011 for breaching his conditions.  He was bound by an Undertaking Order and a Probation Order with the same condition:  To Keep the Peace and be of Good Behaviour.  On January 6th, 2011 police allege that he failed to attend his scheduled fingerprint appointment.  It is further alleged that on the arrest date, the male entered a Water Street East grocery store and stole merchandise.  He was arrested by the store’s Loss Prevention Officer and detained until the arrival of police.  He is facing 1 count of Fail to Attend for Prints, 1 count of Theft Under $5,000.00 and 1 count each of Breach of Undertaking and Breach of Probation.  He was released to appear in court on the 15th of February, 2011.

BREACH OF PROBATION

Cornwall, Ont. – A 16 year-old Cornwall youth was arrested on the 31st of January, 2011 during a routine traffic stop.  The youth was bound by a Probation Order with conditions to have no contact with anyone known to him to have a criminal record and to Keep the Peace and be of Good Behaviour.  Police allege that he was located as a passenger in a motor vehicle while in the company of two males who have criminal records.  He was arrested for 2 counts of Fail to Comply with Probation Order and released to appear in court on the 10th of March, 2011.  His name is withheld due to provisions under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

BREACH OF UNDERTAKING

Cornwall, Ont. – A 16 year-old Cornwall female was arrested on the 01st of February, 2011 for breaching her conditions.  She was bound by an Undertaking Order with a condition to abide by a curfew.  It is alleged that on January 31st, 2011 she failed to return home on time thus breaching her condition.  Police were contacted and an investigation resulted in the location of the female in the early hours of February 1st.  She is facing 1 count of Breach of Undertaking and was held in custody until court.  Her name is withheld due to provisions under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

DOMESTIC INCIDENT

(South Dundas) – On 01Feb11, at approximately 09:30am, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of a domestic incident on Annette St. Morrisburg, On.

The investigation revealed that a female and her 24yr old common-law husband were involved in a verbal altercation that resulted in the male assaulting the female.

He was arrested and faces charges of:

  • Assault
  • Mischief Under $5,000

He is scheduled to appear 01Mar11 in Cornwall court.

RESIDENTIAL FIRE

(North Dundas) – On 01Feb11, at approximately 11:00pm, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of a residential fire on County Road 9, North Dundas Township.

There were no reported injuries and the fire is deemed accidental.

The fire caused extensive damage to the residence.

  1. Re: 11th street purse snatch. It’s impossible for elderly people to walk in Ottawa after dark due to the muggings. Because of my job, I walk often late at night and observe many elderly walking their dogs or just taking a breath of fresh air. That’s a fine compliment for both local police and local crooks. If crooks pick on their own, I guess that’s one thing. If crooks prey on the truly innocent I think the Crown should hammer them very hard and the elderly should be allowed to kick the shit out of them while their dogs bite their noses off.

  2. If the old people were carrying guns, that would be a deterrent!
