Cornwall City Police and OPP Police Blotter for Wednesday February 16th, 2011

Cornwall ON – Busy day as both the Cornwall Police and OPP are seeking the public’s assistance in addition to the usual bunch of happenings.

ROBBERY INVESTIGATION

Cornwall, Ont. – The Cornwall Community Police Service is investigating a robbery which took place on January 31st, 2010 at 06:35 hours at an Eleventh Street East long term care facility parking lot.  It is alleged that a lone male approached a female from behind and stole her purse and belongings.  The female was uninjured.  The male is described as follows:

Physical descriptors:

5’9 to 5’10
slim build

Wearing a dark coloured coat and a face cover

Spoke English, speech slurred

THEFT and BREACH OF UNDERTAKING

Cornwall, Ont. – Ronald Robert Rosario Savard, 50, of Cornwall was arrested on the 15th of February, 2011 following a shoplifting incident which occurred two days prior at a Brookdale Avenue department store.  The male was bound by an Undertaking Order with a condition to Keep the Peace and be of Good Behaviour.  It is alleged that he facilitated the theft of merchandise by distracting the store clerk while another male stole merchandise.  Police were contacted and an investigation resulted in the male facing 1 count each of Theft Under $5,000.00 and Breach of Undertaking.  He was released to appear in court on the 15th of March, 2011.

DRUGS

Cornwall, Ont. – On the 15th of February, 2011 the Cornwall Community Police Service Street Crime Unit, assisted by the O.P.P. Drug Enforcement Team, executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Search warrant at a Brookdale Avenue residence.  As a result of the search, a quantity of drugs, believed to be Crack Cocaine, Oxycodone and Codeine and a sum of cash were seized.  The total value of the drugs and other offence related property is estimated at over $6,787.90.

As a result of the investigation:

Patrick Conrad Grant, 46, of Cornwall was arrested and charged with three counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance, two counts of Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking and 1 count of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime.  He was released to appear in court at a later date to answer to the charge.

BREACH OF RECOGNIZANCE

Cornwall, Ont. – A, 20 year-old male, of No Fixed Address was arrested on the 15th of February, 2011 for breaching his conditions.  He was bound by a Recognizance Oder with a condition to not associate or communicate directly with a specific female.  Police allege that he was located in the company of the female at a Vincent Massey motel room.  As a result, he is facing 1 count of Breach of Recognizance and held in custody until court.  His name is withheld as it may identify the female in this incident.

BREACH OF UNDERTAKING

Cornwall, Ont. – Adam James Helmer, 19, of Cornwall was arrested in the early hours of February 16th, 2011 for breaching his conditions.  He was bound by an Undertaking Order with a condition to Not be away from his residence during specific hours.  It is alleged that he was located on Walton Street after curfew, thus breaching his condition.  He was arrested for 1 count of Breach of Undertaking and released to appear in court on the 08th of March, 2011 to answer to the charge.

YOUTH CHARGED

(South Dundas) – On 14Feb11, at approximately 9:30am, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of an assault on Beach St. Iroquois On.

The investigation revealed that a 13yr old male youth assaulted another youth while attending school.

He was arrested and faces a charge of:

  • Assault

He is scheduled to attend youth court 10Mar11 in the City of Cornwall.

THEFT

(North Stormont) – On 14Feb11, at approximately 9:00am, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of a theft on 6th Road, North Stormont Township.

The investigation revealed that sometime overnight unknown suspect(s) attended a parked vehicle and removed a tool box containing various wrenches, ratchets and other hand tools.

The investigation is ongoing.

Suspicious Person

(South Stormont,  On) –   On February 16 at approximately 10:45am, SD&G OPP officers were dispatched to the report of a suspicious person on Bethune St in the Village of Long Sault, located in South Stormont Township.
As a precaution, the children of two nearby schools were detained inside while officers conducted a thorough search of the area utilizing extensive resources.
Officers did not find anything or anyone suspicious and completed the investigation.

Theft

(South Stormont, On) –   On February 15th, SD&G OPP officer was dispatched to a report of a theft on County Road 15 in South Stormont Township.

The investigation revealed that sometime on February 14th, an unknown suspect entered the property with a vehicle and removed pieces of stainless steel piping and some aluminum sheeting.  The unknown suspect also caused some damage to a structure on the property as well.   The value of the property stolen is undetermined at this time.

The investigation is ongoing.
