Cornwall ON – Here is your police blotter for February 28, 2011.

WARRANT

Cornwall, Ont. – Gail Margaret Ann Atwell, 57, of Cornwall turned herself into police on the 25th of February, 2011.  On the 08th of February, 2011 it is alleged that she failed to attend court and a bench warrant was issued.  She was held in custody until court later that day.

 

ASSAULT

Cornwall, Ont. – A 23 year-old Cornwall male was arrested on the 25th of February, 2011 following a domestic disturbance investigation.  It is alleged that during an argument with his 18 year-old girlfriend on that date, he assaulted her by grabbing her by the arm and pushing her up against the door.  Police further allege that during that argument, he choked her.  Further investigation revealed that he had assaulted her approximately 1 week prior by shutting a bathroom door on her arm.   The victim did not require medical at the time of either incident.   As a result of the investigation, the male is facing 2 counts of Assault and 1 count of Overcoming Resistance (choking).  He was held in custody until court. His name is not being released as it may identify the victim in this incident.

 

BREACH OF RECOGNIZANCE

Cornwall, Ont. – John Wesley Cook, 32, of St. Regis Quebec was arrested on the 25th of February, 2011 for breaching his conditions.  He was bound by a Recognizance Order with a condition to Not be found anywhere where alcohol is sold.  Police allege that on the arrest date, he was observed inside a licenced establishment.  The male left the area in a taxi and was later arrested by police for 1 count of Breach of Recognizance.  He was released to appear in court on March 8th, 2011 to answer to the charge.

 

ASSAULT and MISCHIEF

Cornwall, Ont. – A 23 year-old Cornwall male was arrested on the 26th of February, 2011 following an altercation.  It is alleged that he was restrained outside an Eleventh Street East business by a snow removal employee after the employee observed the male assault his 21 year-old girlfriend.  The female did not require medical attention at the time of the incident.  Police further allege that the male also caused mischief to his girlfriends’ car window.  As a result of the investigation, the male is facing 1 count each of Mischief Under $5,000.00 and Assault.  The male was held in custody until court.  His name is not being released as it may identify the victim in this incident.

 

BREAK AND ENTER and BREACH OF PROBATION

Cornwall, Ont. – Brandon Cayer, 21, of Cornwall was arrested on the 26th of February, 2011 following an investigation.  He was bound by 2 separate Probation Orders with the common condition:  To Keep the Peace and be of Good Behaviour.  On December 31st, 2010, it is alleged that he and a co-accused broke into a Carleton Street residence.  As a result of the investigation, the male is facing 1 count each of Break and Enter and Breach of Probation. He was released to appear in court on the 24th of March, 2011.

 

BREACH OF RECOGNIZANCE

Cornwall, Ont. – Marc Struthers, 37, of Glen Walter was arrested on the 26th of February, 2011 for breaching his conditions.  He was bound by a Recognizance Order with a condition to Abstain from the consumption of alcohol.  It is alleged that he was located on the arrest date under the influence of alcohol, thus breaching his condition.  He was arrested for 1 count of Breach of Recognizance and released to appear in court at a later date to answer to the charge.

 

WEAPONS

Cornwall, Ont. – Chad Gary Belanger, 23, of Cornwall was arrested on the 26th of February, 2011.  The male was bound by a lifetime weapons prohibition.  Police attended his residence on an unrelated matter and they allege that he was located in possession of a weapon.  As a result of an investigation, the male is facing 1 count each of Unauthorized Possession of a Weapon and Possession of a Weapon while prohibited.  He was released to appear in court on the 08th of March, 2011 to answer to the charge.

 

IMPAIRED OPERATION OF A MOTOR VEHICLE and OVER .80

Cornwall, Ont. – John Vebber, 35, of Malone New York was arrested in the early hours of February 27th, 2011.  It is alleged that he operated a motor vehicle on Sydney Street while under the influence of alcohol.  He was arrested for Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle and transported for further testing which resulted in a charge of Over. 80.  He was released to appear in court on a later date to answer to the charges.

 

WARRANT

Cornwall, Ont. – Justin Cameron, 22, of Cornwall was arrested on the 27th of February, 2011 on the strength of an outstanding warrant.  The male was bound by a Conditional Sentence Order with a house arrest condition.  On the 23rd of February, it is alleged that he was away from his residence at an unscheduled time and a warrant for a breach of conditional sentence was in issued.  He was held in custody until court.

 

WARRANT

Cornwall, Ont. – Jacob Darryle Lee Russell, 18, of Cornwall was arrested on the 27th of February, 2011 for breaching his conditions.  He was bound by a Probation Order with a condition to report to his Probation Officer as required.  It is alleged that he failed to abide by the condition and a warrant was issued.  He was released to appear in court at a later date to answer to the charge.

 

BREACHES

Cornwall, Ont. – A 14 year-old Cornwall female was arrested in the early hours of February 28th, 2011 for breaching her conditions. She was bound by an Undertaking Order and a Probation Order with the same condition:  To Keep the Peace and be of Good Behaviour. The female resides at a group home and was visiting a family member along with a group home employee.  It is alleged that the young female ran away after refusing to leave with the group home employee, thus breaching her conditions.   She was located by police and is facing 1 count each of Breach of Probation and Breach of Undertaking.  She was released to appear in court on the 31st of March, 2011.  Her name is withheld due to provisions under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

 

DRIVING WHILE DISQUALIFIED

Cornwall, Ont. – Richard Joseph Zeran, 42, of Cornwall was arrested on the 27th of February, 2011.  The previous day, it is alleged that he was observed operating a motor vehicle while disqualified from driving.  Police were contacted and an investigation resulted in the male facing 3 counts of Drive while Disqualified.  He was released to appear in court on the 15th of March, 2011 to answer to the charges.

CHARGES LAID

(South Glengarry) – On 25Feb11, at approximately 9:00am, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of a theft on County Road 2, South Glengarry Township.

The investigation revealed that three men were removing scrap metal from a local business, when the men were approached by an employee they fled the area in a white GMC pick-up truck.

The vehicle was stopped a short time later where police recovered the stolen property.

All three men (Keath ST-LOUIS 55yrs, Perry Edward ST-LOUIS 52yrs and Todd ST-LOUIS 30yrs of Cornwall, On) were arrested and face charges of:

  • Theft Under
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $ 5,000

They are scheduled to appear 06Apr11 in Alexandria court.

IMPAIRED DRIVER
(South Dundas) – On 26Feb11, at approximately 4:30am, SD&G OPP officers checked a vehicle on Lakeshore Drive, Morrisburg On.

The 48yr old male driver (Kevin LOVERIN of Winchester, On) was found to be operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol.

He was arrested and faces charges of:

  • Impaired Operation / Motor Vehicle
  • Exceed 80mgs / Motor Vehicle

He is scheduled to appear 08Mar11 in Cornwall court.

BREAK AND ENTER
(South Stormont) – On 25Feb11, at approximately 3:00pm, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of a break and enter on County Road 15, South Stormont Township.

The investigation revealed that sometime between 11:30am – 3:00pm unknown suspect(s) attended a residence and removed various tools along with welding equipment from the garage.

The investigation is ongoing.
