Pacioretty Scores Twice as Habs Beat Tampa Bay 4-2 – Leafs Lose 5-3 to Chicago- NHL Scores – March 5, 2011

Cornwall ON – Max Pacioretty took some heat for comments earlier in the season when he suggested that if he was going to come back up to the Habs he wanted to be a top six forward.

Well since he’s been back up with the parent club that’s exactly what he’s done.   Saturday night in Tampa Bay the lanky winger picked up two more goals, one really pretty as he was in front of Dwayne Roloson getting his beak into the play clipping a puck behind the crafty veteran net minder.

As Scott Gomez gets his play off groove going Pacioretty is a great compliment on the line along with Captain Brian Gionta.  Hal Gill scored again, that’s two in two games!

In other NHL games, Montreal Roberto Luongo notched his 300th NHL win as Vancouver beat LA 3-1; Boston lost 3-2 to Pittsburgh in OT; Buffalo beat the Flyers 5-3; the Islanders scored 5 which was 3 more than St. Louis mustered;   Chicago end the Leaf’s win streak and possibly their season with their 5-3 win;  and Atlanta won a game needing OT to beat Florida 4-3.

As of press time Detroit was ahead of Phoenix 4-1.  Edmonton vs Colorado, and Dallas vs San Jose had yet to start.
