Carey Price Earns 8th Shut Out as Habs Blank Penguins 3-0 – March 12, 2011 – Cornwall Ontario

Cornwall ON – With Max Pacioretty with a broken neck and the Habs not making any moves at the trade deadline the focus is on players like Andrei Kostitsyn to pick it up several notches as the play offs inch closer.

The Habs beat Pittsburgh and they need every win they can get at this point of the season, but AK 46 shot blanks.   For some reason he just isn’t shooting enough and you can’t score goals if you don’t shoot the puck or stand in front of the net and have them ding off of you.

Today is was Mike Cammallieri earning his salary leading Montreal with a goal and assist in their 3-0 win with Carey Price picking up his 8th shut out as he starts to rack up Vezina like numbers.

Alarming though is their anemic 20 shots on Pittsburgh.  That’s not going to cut it over the long haul.

What was good to see was Habs players sticking up for others.  When Yannick Weber was being intimidated Paul Mara used his size to come to his teammates defense as did Ryan White who I’m starting to like the more I see him play.

With Brent Sopel joining the Habs infirmary the pressure is going to be on the youngun as PK Subban and Yannick Weber are going to have to man some manly minutes in key situations.
