1 Fatality in Cornwall Ontario Fire plus Police Blotter – Friday October 18, 2011

Cornwall ON – Busy day on the streets of Cornwall Ontario as a fire took the life of a man (Maurice Champagne) during a busy Friday.

FIRE UNDER INVESTIGATION

Cornwall, Ont. – The Cornwall Community Police Service and the Cornwall Fire Service are jointly investigating a fire which occurred on this date shortly after 2 o’clock at a First Street East residence.  An unidentified male was located deceased at the residence.  The matter is currently under investigation.

Fire Department Responds to Apartment Fire 

The Event
At 2:17 pm, on Friday March 18, a call was received by the 911 operator advising “black smoke coming from an apartment” on the 700 block of First Street East.

The Response
The Fire Department responded with four vehicles from both stations.   A total of 11 fire personnel were at the scene.

The Summary
The fire was out on arrival and there is one fatality.  Fire Prevention, the Fire Marshal’s Office and City Police will be investigating the cause of the fire.

BREAK AND ENTER

Cornwall, Ont. – The Cornwall Community Police Service is investigating a break and enter which occurred sometime between midnight and 03:30 am on the 16th of March, 2011 into a Marlborough Street residence.  The suspect(s) gained entry through the front door.  Once inside, the suspect(s) stole a 42” Sony Bravia television, 200 DVD’s and a b.b. gun.  If you have any information regarding this break and enter, please contact the Service by dialing(613) 932-2110.

 

BREACH OF RECOGNIZANCE

Cornwall, Ont. – Francis Kirk Kameka, 35, of Cornwall was arrested on the 16th of March, 2011 for breaching his conditions.  He was bound by a Recognizance Order with a condition to Not associate with a person with a criminal record.  On the offence date, it is alleged that he was located walking on Fifth Street West in the company of a male who has a criminal record.  The male was arrested for 1 count of Breach of Recognizance and released to appear in court on the 05th of April, 2011 to answer to the charge.

 

 

BREACH OF RECOGNIZANCE

Cornwall, Ont. – Joseph Andre Daniel Lalonde, 20, of St-Andrews West was arrested in the early hours of March 17th, 2011 for breaching his conditions.  He was bound by a Recognizance Order with a curfew condition.  During a routine traffic stop, it is alleged that he was located as a passenger in a motor vehicle past his curfew.  He was arrested for 1 count of Breach of Recognizance and released to appear in court on the 05th of April, 2011.

 

WARRANT

Cornwall, Ont. – Stephane L’Italien, 23, of Cornwall was arrested on the 17th of March, 2011 on the strength of a warrant.  On the 01st of March, 2011 it is alleged that he failed to attend court and a bench warrant was issued.  The male turned himself and appeared in court later that day.

 

 

WARRANT

Cornwall, Ont. – Robert Tyler Delormier, 30, of Akwesasne turned himself in on the 17th of March, 2011 on the strength of a warrant.  The male was bound by a Conditional Sentence Order with a condition to not operate a motor vehicle.  On the 11th of January, 2011 it is alleged that the male operated a motor vehicle.  A warrant was requested.  The accused appeared in court later that day.

 

 

ASSAULT and BREACH OF PROBATION

Cornwall, Ont. – Ashella Sara Huxtable, 28, of Cornwall was arrested on the 17th of March, 2011.  She was bound by a Probation Order with a condition to Keep the Peace and be of Good Behaviour.  It is alleged that while under the influence of alcohol, the female was arrested under the provisions of the Liquor Licence Act.  While being looked after by the ambulance service, it is alleged that kicked a paramedic.  Further investigation revealed that he female had earlier attended a restaurant in the vicinity of Brookdale Avenue and when asked to leave, spat on an employee.  Another fellow employee attempted to intervene at which time Huxtable attempted to strike her.  As a result of the investigation, the female was arrested for 3 counts of Assault and 1 count of Breach of Probation.  She was later released to appear in court on the 11th of April, 2011.

 

 

ROBBERY and BREACH OF PROBATION

Cornwall, Ont. – A 25 year-old Cornwall male was arrested on the 17th of March, 2011 following two separate incidents from the previous day.  The male was bound by a Probation Order with a condition to Keep the Peace and be of Good Behaviour and to Not Associate directly or indirectly with a specific female.  It is alleged that he entered a Water Street East grocery store and stole merchandise.  When the store’s Loss Prevention Officer attempted to arrest the male, he assaulted the Officer.  On the 16th of March, it is also alleged that he attended the female’s residence, thus breaching his conditions.  Police were contacted and an investigation resulted in the male facing 1 count of Robbery and 3 counts of Breach of Probation relating to both investigations.  The male was held in custody until court the following day. His name is not being released as it may identify the victim in this incident.

 

 

IMPAIRED OPERATION OF A MOTOR VEHICLE and BREACHES

Cornwall, Ont. – Emile Denis Lauzon, 48, of Cornwall was arrested on the 17th of March, 2011for several offences.  The male was bound by three Undertaking Orders with the following conditions: to Keep the Peace and be of Good Behaviour and to Not be found in the driver’s seat of any motor vehicle after having consumed alcohol and to Abstain from the consumption of alcohol.  Police allege that the male was located operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol.  The male was arrested and is facing 1 count of Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle, 1 count of Over .80 and 5 counts of Breach of Undertaking.  The male was held in custody until court on the 18th of March, 2011 to answer to the charges.

 

 

BREACH OF PROBATION

Cornwall, Ont. – A 34 year-old Cornwall male was arrested on March 17th, 2011 for breaching his conditions.  He was bound by a Probation Order with conditions to Abstain from alcohol absolutely and to Keep the Peace and be of Good Behaviour.  It is alleged that on that date, police attended his residence on an unrelated matter and he was located under the influence of alcohol.  He was arrested for 2 counts of Breach of Probation.   He was released to appear in court on the 05th of April, 2011.  His name is not being released.
