Take Our Poll – Is Mr. Harper Being a Hypocrite Over Coalitions? – March 28, 2011 – Cornwall Ontario

Cornwall ON – Is Prime Minister Harper changing his tune when it comes to coalition governments in Canada?

So far the Harper Government has come out swinging trying to inveigle Canadians that if they don’t vote Conservative the other parties will team up and form a coalition as if that would be akin to eating babies and destroying our country.

The only issue though is that he himself was going down this path in 2004 as he sought to bring down the Minority Liberal Martin government.

That coalition didn’t occur, but Mr. Harper did get elected to a minority himself and that has plunged Canada into one of its darkest periods of Parliamentary history including his former government now being toppled after being held in contempt of Parliament; a precedent in Canadian Parliamentary history.

“The person who has got a problem with the coalition is Stephen Harper,” Ignatieff said Sunday in Montreal. “He’s got to explain what he was doing” in a hotel room “with Jack and Gilles.” He added: “I don’t have that problem. It’s his problem.”

Never having had a majority after three elections are Canadians now fed up with this behaviour?   Only May 2nd will have the answer to that question, but in the mean while we thought we’d ask you to vote in our poll about Mr. Harper’s alleged Hypocritical behavior regarding coalitions.

Do you think Prime Minister Harper is being a Hypocrite about Coalitions after he himself considered leading one in 2004 with the Bloc Quebecois?

  1. Coalition schmoalition……I can’t see Stephen being alone in a hotel room with Jack and Gilles unless they all just came back from the strip club.

  2. I think the timing of the comment “The only issue though is that he himself was going down this path in 2004 as he sought to bring down the Minority Liberal Martin government.” is a bit off.

Martin went to the GG and said he lost the confidence of the House, and then Harper offered to run the place.
