Bruins up 2-1 in Eastern Conference Final as Tim Thomas shuts out Tampa Bay – Markham to get NHL team? – May 20, 2011 – Cornwall Ontario

Cornwall ON- If the Boston Bruins break they Stanley Cup drought it’s going to chiefly be on the back of their goalie Tim Thomas.

Thomas shut out the high octane Tampa offense 2-0 stopping all 31 Lightning shots on goal.

What was impressive about the Boston victory is that Tampa’s big guns had their shots on net and were still blanked.

Boston takes a 2 games to 1 lead in the Eastern Conference Final.

Vancouver is in San Jose to see if they can run their lead in the Western Conference Final to 3 games to 0.

In other NHL rumblings and rumours talks are rampant about the future of the Atlanta Thrashers with a lot of buzz having them moving to Winnipeg instead of the Coyotes.

And it was reported HERE that a new NHL team may be in the cards for Markham Ontario.

Sources tell Watters a new arena, with seating for 19,500 is heading to the Markham Rd & Hwy 407 area, alongside a retail mall, and hotel.
The area would lie outside the 75 mile boundary of Buffalo, meaning the only team that would have to compensated for territorial infringement would be the Maple Leafs.
