$1,000 Centennial Community Grant from Union Gas awarded to the Children’s Aid Society of the United Counties of Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry to support the Society’s Camp Fund – July 24, 2011

Cornwall ON – The Children’s Aid Society of the United Counties of Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry has been awarded a $1,000 Centennial Community Grant from Union Gas to support the Society’s CampFund.

This year the Society was able to send 83 children to camp. The children for whom the Society is raising funds are not the children in the care of the Society. Due to the lack of parental resources, these youth are left out of the rich experiences that summer camps develop and promote.

Union Gas is celebrating 100 years of delivering safe, reliable and affordable service to customers and communities across Ontario in 2011. This award is one of 100 Centennial grants of $1,000 each that Union Gas is giving out to support charitable projects focused on the environment, community safety and education across the province.

“A passionate commitment to stewardship, safety and win-win relationships are all central to our business culture and operations,” said Jake Lapierre, Union Gas Manager of Utility Services and Construction,Cornwall. “Our success as one ofNorth America’s premier natural gas storage, transmission and distribution companies is shared with the communities we serve and we can’t think of a better way to mark this occasion than by giving back to a community program that so closely aligns with these business values.”

The Society and the community thanks Union Gas for support this local project.
