City of Toronto to host 2012 Ontario Summer Games – Official One Year to Go Celebration August 16th !

Toronto ON – The City of Toronto, together with the Honourable Margarett Best, Minister of Health Promotion and Sport; Holly Abraham, Chair of the Sport Alliance of Ontario; Rahul Bhardwaj, Chair of the Toronto 2012 Ontario Summer Games Organizing Committee, and Olympian Crispin Duenas will join in a celebration officially announcing “One Year To Go” to the City of Toronto hosting the 2012 Ontario Summer Games.

From August 16 to 19, 2012, the Ontario Summer Games will bring together almost 2,500 athletes competing in 28 sports in multiple venues across Toronto and surrounding regions, as well as coaches, managers and officials from across the province. It is a unique opportunity for many young athletes, as this multi-sport competition serves as a stepping stone to many national and international competitions. With more than 1,000 volunteers required, the Games will provide a wonderful opportunity to develop a legacy of volunteerism.

The 2012 Ontario Summer Games will be funded by the Ministry of Health Promotion and Sport through the Sport Alliance of Ontario, in partnership with the City of Toronto, the Toronto Sports Council, Tourism Toronto and various other funding sources.
