DRUGS

 

            Cornwall, ON- Heather Rosealine Arents, 50 of Cornwall was arrested on the 6th of September, 2011. She was bound by an Undertaking with the conditions to Keep the Peace and be of Good Behaviour. It is alleged that on the 6th of September, 2011 she was observed by members of the Cornwall Community Police Service Street Crime unit to be found in the possession of a controlled substance. She was charged with possession of a control substance, possession for the purpose and Breach of Undertaking. She was held in custody until court the following day.

 

THEFT

 

            Cornwall, ON- Lise Dorothy Dufresne, 45 of Cornwall was arrested on the 6th of September, 2011 following a shoplifting incident. It is alleged that on the 6th of September, 2011 she attended a Water Street store and stole merchandise. She was arrested by the store’s Loss Prevention Officer and detained until the arrival of a member of Community Patrol. She is facing 1 count of Theft Under $5000.00 and is scheduled for court on the 25th of October, 2011.

 

DOMESTIC ASSAULT

 

            Cornwall, ON- A 33 year-old Cornwall man was arrested on the 6th of September, 2011. He was bound by a Recognizance with the relevant conditions toreside with surety at a certain address and abide by the rules of that residence, abstain from the consumption of alcohol absolutely or be found any place where alcohol is sold, save restaurants or for employment purposes and not to associate or communicate directly or indirectly with a certain female and not to be within 100 meters of her, her place of residence, education or worship. It is alleged that on the 6th of September, 2011, he entered into an altercation with his 26 year-old girlfriend when he choked her and prevented her from leaving. Police were contacted and an investigation followed. The female was transported for medical treatment as a precaution. He was located and charged with Overcoming Resistance (choking), Forcible Confinement and 3 counts of Recognizance. He was held in custody until court the following day. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in this incident.

LABOUR DAY LONG WEEKEND RESULTS

(Smith Falls, Ontario) – The Ontario Provincial Police Eastern Region Headquarters, in coordination with the OPP ERHET – (East Region Highway Enforcement Team), HSD-Long Sault (Highway Safety Division) as well as SD&G, Grenville and Leeds OPP detachments, were on the look-out for aggressive drivers this holiday weekend.“OPP officers across Eastern Ontario were working very hard this weekend to ensure motorists and boaters alike had a safe holiday weekend,” said Inspector Chris Lungstrass. “Our dedicated officers working together over the long weekend focused on aggressive drivers and held them accountable. Keeping our highways safe is everyone’s responsibility and we will continue to be there to remind those that have forgotten.”
