THEFT, B&E, DANGEROUS OPERATION, FLIGHT FROM POLICE, ASSAULT POLICE WITH WEAPON, WARRANT & BREACHES

 

Cornwall, ON- Richard Marini, 47 of Cornwall was arrested on the 16th of December, 2011. He was bound by an recognizance with the condition with not to associate with persons to you with a criminal record. He was also bound by a probation order to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. It is alleged that on the 4th of December, 2011, he attended Second Street East stores, concealed items and made no attempts to pay for the items. It is also alleged that on the 16th if December, 2011, he entered a business unlawfully and removed items. Police were contacted and an investigation followed. He was located with someone with a criminal record, refused to stop for police while operating a motor vehicle and attempted to strike a police cruiser. He was charged with 2 counts of theft under $5000.00, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, flight from police, assault police with weapon, breach of probation order, and fail to comply with recognizance. He was subsequently arrested for an outstanding warrant. It is alleged that he failed to attend court on the 15th of December, 2011 and a bench warrant was sought. He was held in custody until court the following day.

 

ASSAULT, MISCHIEF, FORCIBLE CONFINEMENT & BREACHES

 

            Cornwall, ON- A 17 year-old Cornwall youth was arrested on the 16th of December, 2011. The youth was bound by a probation order with the condition of keep the peace and be of good behavior. It is alleged that on the 16th of December, 2011 he got into an altercation with his 19 year-old girlfriend when he assaulted her and broke the telephone. He also prevented the victim to leave the residence. The victim suffered minor injuries. Police were contacted and an investigation followed. The youth was charged with domestic assault, mischief, forcible confinement and breach of probation order. He was held in custody until court the following day. The youth’s name was not released as per provision under the Youth Criminal Justice Act and it may identify the victim in this incident.

 

UNLAWFULLY IN DWELLING & BREACH

 

            Cornwall, ON- Marcel Dubeau, 35 of Cornwall was arrested on the 16th of December, 2011. He was bound by a probation order with the condition of keep the peace and be of good behavior. It is alleged that on the 12th of December, 2011 he unlawfully entered an acquaintance residence. Police were contacted and an investigation followed. He was charged with unlawfully in dwelling and breach of probation order. He was released to appear in court on the 3rd of January, 2012.

 

ASSAULT

 

            Cornwall, ON- A 20 year-old Cornwall man was arrested on the 16th of December, 2011. It is alleged that on the 16th of December, 2011 he visited his ex-girlfriend when an altercation occurred. He proceeded to assault his ex-girlfriend’s 43 year-old mother. Police were contacted and an investigation followed. He was charged with assault and released to appear in court on the 3rd of January, 2012. His name was not released as it would identify the victim.

 

BREAK & ENTER

Cornwall, ON- The Cornwall Community Police Service is currently investigation a break and enter that occurred on the 15th of December, 2011 at a Lawrence Street residence. The suspect(s) gained entry by prying open doors and proceed to remove a tool kit, Virgin Mobile cell phone, bicycle foot pump, 12 inch ship in a glass bottle, blue smock, clothing, toys, knives and prescription medications. Cornwall, ON- The Cornwall Community Police Service is currently investigation a break and enter that occurred on the 16th of December, 2011 at a St. Felix Street residence. The suspect(s) gained entry by smashing a basement window and proceed to remove hockey bag, Playstation III, movies, video games, gift certificate, sweaters, money and a Nikon digital camera. Cornwall, ON- The Cornwall Community Police Service is currently investigation a break and enter that occurred on the 16th of December, 2011 at a Belmont Avenue residence. The suspect(s) gained entry by removing a glass pane from a door and proceed to remove an undisclosed amount of money. Cornwall, ON- The Cornwall Community Police Service is currently investigation a break and enter that occurred on the 18th of December, 2011 at a Cumberland Street residence. The suspect(s) gained entry by kicking in a door and proceed to remove a 32” RCA flat screen TV, Toshiba laptop, money, prescription medication and two jewellery boxes containing watches, rings, earrings and bracelets. DOMESTIC MISCHIEF AND THREATS

 

            Cornwall, ON- A 41 year-old Cornwall man was arrested on the 17th of December, 2011. He was bound by an undertaking with the condition of keep the peace and be of good behavior. It is alleged that on the 17th of December, 2011 he got into an altercation with his 44 year-old wife when he threaten her with a weapon and damaged property. Police were contacted and an investigation followed. He was charged with 2 counts of domestic mischief, assault with a weapon, 3 counts of utter threats and breach of undertaking. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in this incident.

 

BREACHES

 

            Cornwall, ON- Carlton Mitchell, 47 of Cornwall was arrested on the 18th of December, 2011. He was bound by a recognizance of keep the peace with the conditions of not to be outside his residence if her has been consuming alcohol for the previous 12 hours. It is that on the 18th of December, 2011 he was in the area of the Cornwall Seaway International bridge while under the influence of alcohol. Police were contacted and an investigation followed. He was charged with breach of undertaking and held in custody until court the next day.

PASSING A MARKED POLICE CRUISER WHILE SPEEDING IS NOT A GOOD IDEA

(SOUTH FRONTENAC, ON) – Passing a marked police vehicle at a high rate of speed is not a good idea. At approximately 21:29 on December 17th 2011, constable T. Whinney of the Frontenac Ontario Provincial Police was traveling in the east bound lanes of Highway 401 when a Toyota Camry passed him and then accelerated away. The officer was able to lock a speed on his radar unit and when he attempted to stop the car it slowed down to the speed limit but did not stop. Cst Whinney called in the situation to his dispatcher to advise of the car not stopping.
A few moments prior to back up units arriving to assist and a few kilometers down the road the vehicle eventually pulled over.
A 44 year old woman from Ottawa was charged with the speeding offence.

IMPAIRED DRIVING/BREAK-IN &THEFT/RECOVERED PROPERTY

WOMAN CHARGED WITH IMPAIRED DRIVING
(South Glengarry) – On December 15, 2011, at approximately 3:30pm, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of a vehicle being driven erratically on Military Road in the Village of Lancaster, South Glengarry Township. The vehicle was intercepted and the female driven was found to be under the influence of alcohol.

Joan GROLEAU (52) of Lancaster was arrested and is charged with;

– Fail to Provide Breath Sample
– Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle

She is scheduled to appear in Alexandria court on January 03, 2012.

 

BREAK-IN/THEFT
(South Glengarry) – On December 15, 2011, SD&G OPP began an investigation into the report of a break-in & theft at a residence on Boileau Lane, South Glengarry Township. Investigation revealed that between December 13&14th, 2011 unknown culprit(s) entered the home and removed a (Compaq) computer laptop.

An investigation continues.
RESIDENTS ENCOURAGED TO REPORT THEFTS TO POLICE
(South Stormont) – As a result of ongoing investigations related to theft incidents in the Village of Long Sault, SD&G OPP has recovered an assortment of stolen items. Over the past weeks (Dec11), police have investigated occurrences from break-ins to thefts from vehicles. Some of the recovered items have not been linked to its owner(s).

Police are requesting residents who have been victims of such crimes and have not reported same to police to do so by calling OPP at 1-888-210-1122.
