Habs Burn Sens 6-2 – Iginla on Fire – Leafs Crumble to Florida – NHL Scores – December 28, 2011

CFN – Sometimes you just have to make those first key saves and set the tempo emotionally for a game.   That’s what Carey Price did as Montreal survived an early onslaught by the Ottawa Senators before he Habs woke up and started popping pucks in the Sens net.    Montreal whupped Ottawa 6-2 giving former Ottawa Captain Randy Cunneyworth his first win behind the Montreal bench and giving a glimmer of hope to Hab fans.

The right people scored goals for Montreal.   Mike Cammalleri, PK Subban, Tomas Plekanec, Erik Cole.   Younguns  Lars Eller and Louis Leblanc added to a night that cheered Montreal fans.    Up 3-1 after the first Montreal did something they didn’t do under Jacques Martin; they kept the pedal the medal and went toe to toe with Ottawa before both teams settled down in the third.

Max Pacioretty was off the scoreboard, but took on Zack Lee in a scrap  and somehow Tomas Kaberle ended up with no shots in a game that saw Montreal score 6 times.

Toronto’s first game after coach Ron Wilson got his contract extension ended up in a 5-3 loss to Florida.   In other NHL scores; Winnipeg soared past Colorado 4-1; Detroit nipped St. Louis 3-2; Tampa Bay beat Philly 5-1 with Steve Stamkos notching two in the penalty filled game.    Jaromir Jagr is still popping in points and is on pace for a point per game season at the age of 39!

Pittsburgh doubled Carolina 4-2, and a hot Jarome Igninla led Calgary to a 2-1 win over  Columbus scoring the shoot out winner.

So Hab fans; can Montreal reach the play offs this year?   Will Geoff Molson switch Pierre’s?  You can post your comments below.   And you Leaf fans, now that Ron Wilson has his extension will the team pull a page from Leaf history and crumble or steam into the Play Offs?
