14 Dead in Colorado Theater Shooting – Expect More and do you Really Care? – Editorial by Jamie Gilcig

CFN – 14 people and counting lie dead in Colorado this morning as you read this.  It’s not unique.  It’s not new.  Theaters, churchs, shopping malls; Children’s camp; people tip.    The result is more than smashed and destroyed lives.

Our culture changes.    How many of you won’t be going to the movies this weekend, and of those of you that do how many will be thinking about it as you sit down and the magic images start to roll?

I remember while driving down to Florida a few years ago hearing about some nit wits dropping cinder blocks from highway over passes.

You bet I kept an eye the whole way down.  It added stress to what should have been a pleasant road trip.

People write on their facebook walls; call each other, and feel shaken deep down.  Others don’t care.   Some are afraid; a tiny few think it’s cool and dream of ways to one up.

We live in a messy world at a messy time.   It’s down to accountability and  the lack thereof in our society.  It starts at the top.  If our leaders don’t have to follow the rules why should any of us?  Anarchy?  Nope.  It’s just chaos and we letting go of our values.

What do you care about?  Really?  Deep down?  Do you ever talk to people about it?    We’re you ever encouraged?  How many people do you know who even have the time to talk about issues they care about never mind do anything about them?

We’re going to see more of these outbursts sadly.  It’s the rivets popping from the internal pressures of a terribly unjust world.   It’s sad for the victims, but then we’re all guilty for allowing our society to become this way.

From what drug and food corporations are doing to us; from politicians, banks, at the end of the day we do this to ourselves systemically.  Think about that next time you’re watching Jersey Shore or playing Angry Birds…

Change isn’t easy; but if you don’t start somewhere this is what you get.

  1. July casualties so far: 191 civilians killed.
    JUNE TOTAL: 472 CIVILIANS KILLED.

And the following are just the reports involving children:

Sunday this week, among 9 killed, one was a girl stabbed..
Sunday last week, among 6 killed, one was a child blown up by a bomb..
Friday, june 22, among 21 killed, one was a child that was beheaded..
15th june, whole family killed by gunfire, 3 children, mother and father..
22nd may, 2 families killed by a bomb near their house, a 13 and a 10 year old boy, 2 other children and their parents..
18th may, police captain and his family shot dead, 2 girls and a boy, aged between 1-10 years old..
7th of may, bomb killed a man and has 2 year old son…

The list goes on and on.. and the names of the adults are listed too… a page of reports for adults for every one or two of those children listed..
No guy dressed as Batman.. but.. I doubt those children would have cared about the batman..

The media cares a hell of a lot more about Americans in their movie theater than for children murdered in their homes overseas..

Do I care.. I’d like to think that I do, but in reality I think I’m just numb to everything.. There is so much death and destruction in the world by the powers that run the government and militarily of the powerful countries.. our time of reckoning will come.. This is just a distraction.

  4. “If our leaders don’t follow the rules, why should we” Thinking that is an unfair statement. I don’t think it has anything to do with our leaders it is lunatics who are trying to prove a point to society and many times for no justifiable reason. They are evil and misfits.

“We all guilty for allowing society to get this way”. People can’t control what is happening in society as much as you would like to think they can. It’s when people think they can control society that problems start…..like murder and revolutions.

“Change isn’t easy but we have to start somewhere” I am not sure how that statement fits in with the shootings or how it refers to society, however, you are right when saying it is only going to get worse. It seems that hostility is rampant all over because people have trouble accepting others and also feel the need to control. When people have a chip on their shoulders, anything could happen and I doubt anyone can change that type of mentality.

  5. I think Wow! should be your new food critic. You’re too busy.

  6. 314 million people. Many are armed to the teeth. A certain percentage have serious mental illness. Sadly, these tragedies are bound to happen.

  7. Our leaders are no good at all and they are all in this thing. I have listened to a former FBI agent say that half of the US and half of Canada will end up killing one another including killing cops, etc. We are living in a very evil society and it isn’t going to get better for an awful long time. All those who did the school shootings in the US, the Arizona shooting, and others were under “mind control” by the government. Guns are coming into Canada illegally from the US and they just don’t come across so easily unless the government and hyarchy of towns are all in this thing. People who go and murder others to begin with are “dupes” and can’t be too bright to be talked into doing this stuff. There are crimes here in Ottawa and mostly has to do with drugs and the gangs and there is a very big gang problem here. I have heard shootings some years ago that happened not far from where I live and I was chatting with a lady in the US at the time and told her right on the computer what I heard. Something happened lately on Fisher Avenue as well. This is a very bad society today and best not to get involved. What is bad is when they shoot innocent people and those people who do such a thing are mentally ill. I never watch TV or go to movies – those movies are insane and I wouldn’t even give as much as a penny for any of it nor waste my precious time.

  8. There has always been violence I imagine. Over the last few decades we see smaller families, less church membership and the after church Sunday get togethers. Maybe a shift work, 24 hour shopping ideal dealt a blow, lone barbaric game playing on the internet removes us even more. Now with 24 news channels competing, and others not afraid to push the envelope, it gets into daily lives quicker.

We may need more attitude of helping each other over what is in it for me, but how do we get there?

  9. What is going on in the US is that the government is going to take away the guns from the people. I can’t remember if I said it here before or not. A lot of this is government staged to give them excuses to go through with this.
There is a piece of news that the American people and Canadians did not get in the “lamestream news” and that is Hillary Clinton escaped death while in Jerusalem Israel just lately when someone shot at her vehicle and her driver escaped without her being killed. It was in Israeli papers and the papers of Lebanon. There was nothing in our western papers about this incident.
The movies that the make today are nuts and for a purpose in mind. All this is staged and so much is staged throughout the many years and nothing new. I never watch TV since a good 9 years now and never go to movie theatres even much longer than that – not since the mid 70’s. All wars and problems are done by governments and always some people who benefit off of all of this.

  10. Sad. But it’s naive to think the world used to be less messy, less violent, less controlled by the powerful.

  11. In the U/S it’s Gun Culture, I believe it’s their second amendment rights. Not so in Canada Hand Guns (legal ones) have been Licenced since 1934. However that really isn’t the problem, it’s the illegal guns crossing our boarders being fed to Gang Members and other NUTS in our midst. It’s a sad situation destroying many Lives and it appears to be growing I feel very sorry to see this happening to children and adults alike & yet we condone smuggling yes it may be cheap smokes now, those same people may be handling drugs & guns next. WHAT WE HAVE HERE IS A SICK SOCIETY HELL BENT ON DESTROYING ITSELF & anything standing in it’s way.

  12. Sociopathic societies tend to kill their own, copy any idea and formulate it to enhance their warp page and presto, dead again.
Narcissistic, psychopathic overloading on the wrongs of society are set out to change it by slaughtering it.

The fix is in, as in we were held back in the past with a set of morals and morality that our atheistic politically correct morally bankrupt fellow citizens feel and believed that churches and institutions held the answers to accommodate a utopian society.

We/they have all the answers. Stuff our lives with the trappings of the market place and
Screw the rest of the world.

An atheist has no where to go. Wouldn’t you rather apply a set of rules and beliefs and be wrong than to not have rules and be wrong?

  13. If you all go on youtube.com something else happened again but this time in Toronto at a block party and by the names they are all foreign. Here is the title of the news:

“Toronto police make arrest in block party shooting that left two people dead.”

Society is getting a lot more violent and the economy of the entire world is going into a “global economic depression” worse than any time in history. A lot of things are making people nuts and with no employment people do not know how they are going to survive.

The cop (FBI retired and now deceased) said before on youtube.com that society was going to become very violent and even many cops were going to be murdered. His name was Ted L. Gunderson and he is on youtube.com and speaks about a lot of things where I told some people about certain books and one of the books (main one) was the one by William Guy Carr and everything in that book is all true called: Pons in the Game. It is a very old book and Ted Gunderson was selling them but he died a year ago of cancer. If you all look up Ted Gunderson he was the one who was involved in the Capt. MacDonald case a doctor who was supposed to have murdered his wife and children. There are books written on the case and on youtube.com as well for all of you to look at. He even talks about satanism in the US and this is worldwide as a problem today. Some young people in my husband’s country have been caught and put in prison for this and again just lately. My husband keeps in touch with what is going on back home through the net. The gun problem is everywhere and yes I agree with everyone here that it comes illegally through the borders. Many people get their hands on these things and we have a tremendous gang problem today. Ottawa has a very bad gang problem and it doesn’t matter which area of Ottawa you live in. One lady that my husband knows just moved out to the suburb of Orleans to get her son away from the bullies and gangs and she is a Syrian lady and her husband is working in Africa. I remember the problems when my kids were in school but those were very minor problems but today I would never put my kids in the school system at all here in Ottawa. I would have to move out to the burbs for sure.

  14. @ Dukers1. Let me assure you that lots of atheists, including myself, are never tempted to open fire on rooms full of people. In fact, I would suggest that it’s usually religious fanatics that pull that stuff. No?

  15. Further to Jules’ comments, she may be onto something.
A share from a friend of a friend who is in her eighties which shows how easily any one of us can and often do follow the wrong masters. I hope our generation can learn from history that certain values are too precious to compromise.

  16. The shooter in Colorado was going through to be a doctor of all things. Something really made this man mentally ill and you can see it in his face. There are plenty out there with a terrible illness and of all things going into medicine. We don’t know who is looking after us anymore. There is no religious fanatic about this man that I have read only someone imitating a stupid Batman movie. Movies, music and games on the net can make people do things that they would not regularly do. The word is “programming” and I don’t know if I mentioned that here before but yes the TV “the dumbed down boob tube – the idiot box” is what has destroyed the people of the west and destroying people of other countries and that is another reason for all the fighting in the Mid East because they don’t want their kids talking back to them and living like the west. This man had his life made and was not a stupid person to have gotten into this line of studies which is mighty hard but something was mighty wrong with his mind and you would think that those who interviewed him before taking on these studies would have traced it. A very sick man indeed and it shows in his face.

  17. Jaqueline, history repeats itself and there is not a d@mn thing we can do. Look what is happening in the US right now. In your article I could see Obama thru and thru. Had you not mentioned the year and country, I would have thought you were talking about him. Same scenario……

  18. Ed that man who shot those people had nothing to do with religion but he was mentally ill and most likely “schitzophrenic” and it shows in his face in the photo. These people are delusional and plenty out there with this disease. If you don’t believe in God that is your choice but when it comes to meet God you will not be able to live with Him when He returns on earth and it is coming but we don’t know when because the Bible has to be fulfilled. I will not deny that the Bible was sometimes mistranslated in some ways because you cannot go from one tongue to another in perfect harmony. There are Jewish scholars who said that the Bible is exact according to their Torah so I will agree with them. People need to awaken badly. This man was not Islamic so get that out of your heads about religion. Not everything that happens is about religion. The man who shot at the University of Virginia was oriental. The man Lucca in Montreal was Canadian. Karla Homolka is Canadian, etc. so stop putting the blame on foreign people and their beliefs when our own fill the prisons more than any other group. Get real.

  19. “Today a man walked into an Orlando office where he brutally murdered 20 babies, wounding the moms. The police made sure he was not disturbed.”- R.C. Sproul Jr.

Abortion … a crime against God and His creation that is condoned / protected by our “law enforcement officers” nationally.

So who is the real “Joker”?

May the good Lord give comfort and insight to all in this time, especial to the murdered victum’s surviving families.

  20. @ Jules. I agree 100% that that this guy had/has serious mental issues.
I did not put the blame on “foreign people and their beliefs”. Religious fanatics can be found all over the world….even in Cornwall.

  21. Ed there are religious fanatics everywhere and yes even in Cornwall. We have tons of them here in Ottawa and there are so many in my area (the bulk of them). The area went down hill because of them and it was one of Ottawa’s prime residential areas and it went down to almost seedy and homes in half a million dollars and more. Some are around a million dollars or near it – incredible. I refuse to own because a neighborhood that would be good goes bad after a time when certain people move in.

  22. Pastor Newton something happened in Anaheim California as well where the cops turned their weapons on the people and beat them up and a child was killed as well. My daughter was in Anaheim CA back in 94 visiting my husband’s nephew down there. She never liked the US and said that she would never live there. All these horrible events are there to apprehend the guns from the American people and the United Nations are going to rule the world. I said that so many times before. I am trying to awaken the people. This is not just going to affect the Americans but everyone in the entire world.

  23. There is something that I just saw on yahoo.ca news where Jews in Israel are committing suicide because of the very high cost of living. The high cost of living is the same in Lebanon and people who are poor or of modest means are having a terrible time. The economy is very bad world wide and getting worse. I agree with Gerald Celente of Trends Research when he said: “When people lose it and lose everything they really lose it.” This isn’t common for any of these people to take their own lives.
