Cornwall Community Hospital Appoints Dr. Lorne Scharf Chief of Staff – February 7, 2013

lorne Scharf FEB 13CFN – The Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Lorne Scharf as the new Chief of Staff of Cornwall Community Hospital. Dr. Scharf will assume his new functions as of March 1, 2013.

Having been a part of the of the CCH family since 2001, Dr. Scharf has shown tremendous growth in developing the skills needed to be effective as Chief of Staff. He has worked in many of the departments at the hospital, most recently as the head of the Emergency Department and the current Medical Director of Quality. Over the last five years he has enjoyed several leadership roles which he feels has prepared him for this new responsibility.

The Chief of Staff plays a key role at the Hospital working with the medical staff and other health care professionals to ensure quality health services are provided to meet community needs. Dr. Scharf displays strong communication and management skills, and has been involved in virtually every facet of the organization.

The Harvard graduate emphasizes that he has many ideas for the future of the Hospital.

“My vision for the Cornwall Community Hospital is that we should be among the highest performing community hospitals in the province. Pulling together patient satisfaction, operational efficiency, and good clinical outcomes will be the medical and quality challenge over the next ten years. I believe that every employee and every doctor at our hospital shares this quality vision, and the leadership challenge is to influence their professional behaviours in the direction that contributes most to our organizations as a whole.”
