STUDENT ASSAULT – Cornwall Area Police Blotter for Wednesday June 19, 2013

        Cornwall ON- On June 17, 2013, Police were called to a local school after a teacher was assaulted by a student.  Investigation revealed that the youth was bound by conditions of an Undertaking to abide by the rules of the school, and to keep the peace and be of good behavior.  The youth was subsequently arrested and charged with Assault and two counts of Breach of Undertaking.  The youth’s name cannot be released due to requirements of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.  He was held for a Bail Hearing June 18, 2013.

 

IMPAIRED

 

         Cornwall ON- On June 17, 2013, Cornwall Police responded to a report of a possible impaired driver in the area of a 13th Street bar.  Investigation revealed that the vehicle left the area and struck a parked car a short time later.  Police located 50 year old Stanley Square of Akwesasne at a First Street East residence.  The male was subsequently arrested and charged with Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle, as well as Fail to Remain at the Scene of an Accident.  He was released to attend court July 2, 2013.

 

DOMESTIC

 

         Cornwall ON- On June 18, 2013, On June 18, 2013 Cornwall Police were contacted through 911 regarding a possible domestic dispute.  Police attended a Sunset Boulevard residence and later arrested a 33 year old male.  Investigation revealed that during a verbal and physical altercation, the male struck his wife in the face.  Investigation also revealed the male was bound by conditions of Probation and a Police Undertaking. When police attempted to arrest the male, he resisted arrest, and caused a disturbance by yelling and swearing.  The male was subsequently charged with Assault, Obstruct police, Cause Disturbance, Breach of Probation and Undertaking.  He was held for a bail hearing June 19, 2013.  The identity of the accused is withheld as it may identify the victim.

POSSESSION OF STOLEN PROPERTY

 

Cornwall ON- Kelly Lalonde, age 39 of Cornwall, was arrested on June 14, 2013.  He is bound by a Probation Order with the relevant to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.  It is alleged that on June 1, 2013, he was in possessions of stolen property at his residence. He was charged with 2 counts of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000.00 and Breach of Probation.  He was held for a Bail Hearing June 14, 2013.

BREAK AND ENTER

 

Cornwall, ON-  Stephane Leclair, age 38, of Cornwall, was arrested on June 16, 2013.  It is alleged that he broke into a local business and was apprehended on scene by the Cornwall Police.  He was charged with Break and Enter, Possession of Break in Instruments and Mischief Under $5000.00.  He was held for a Bail Hearing on June 17, 2013.

THEFT UNDER AND BREACH

Cornwall, ON-  Nancy Hutt, age 37 of Cornwall was arrested on June 18, 2013.  She is bound by a Probation Order with the relevant condition to Keep the Peace and be of Good Behaviour.  She is also bound by an Undertaking with the relevant condition to Keep the Peace and be of Good Behaviour.  It is alleged that on June 15, 2013, she attended a York Street residence and took a laptop computer.  She was charged with Theft Under $5000.00, Breach of Probation and Breach of Undertaking.  She was held for a Bail Hearing.

(South Stormont) – On 18Jun13, at approximately 12:30am, SD&G OPP officers had occasion to check a male pedestrian on Highway 401, South Stormont Township.

The check found the 23yr old male to be breaching his earlier release conditions.

He was arrested and faces charges of:

– Fail to Comply – Undertaking before Officer in Charge x2

He was held in custody pending an appearance in Cornwall court.
BREAK AND ENTER

(South Stormont) – On 17Jun13, at approximately 8:30am, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of a break and enter on County Road 18, South Stormont Township.

The investigation revealed that sometime overnight unknown suspect(s) entered a garage and removed a welder, generator and various tools.

The investigation is ongoing.

The Glendaler’s ATV club held a poker run in February and raised $200.00 in support of the Seaway Valley Crime Stopper’s program. The Coordinator O.P.P. Constable Pete Robertson stated “We are always looking to make new community partners and this just another example of a club helping make their community a safer place to live”.
