            Cornwall, ON- On June 25, 2013, at approx. 7:00 p.m, police responded to a neighbor dispute on Augustus Street.  Investigation revealed that during the altercation one neighbor allegedly struck the other neighbours forearm with a metal object.  Police investigated and charged a 70 year old Cornwall man with Assault with a Weapon.  He was released to attend court August 1, 2013.  The victim did not require medical attention.  The male’s name was not released as it could identify the victim.

 

BREACH

         Cornwall, ON- On June 25, 2013, Andrea Menard, 49 of Cornwall was charged with two counts of Breach of Recognizance as a result of a disturbance on Walton Street.  The female had been bound by a J.P Recognizance with conditions to not be away from her residence, and not to consume alcohol.  It is alleged that that she had been drinking and was away from her residence. She was subsequently charged with two counts of Breach of Recognizance, and held for a Bail Hearing June 26, 2013.

 

         Cornwall, ON- On June 26, 2013 at approx 4:00 a.m, a 16 year old youth was arrested for breaching conditions of his Recognizance.  On June 18, 2013 the youth was released on a J.P Recognizance with several conditions.  It is alleged that the youth breached the following conditions: curfew, house rules, and keep the peace and be of good behavior.  He was subsequently charged and held for a Bail Hearing June 26, 2013.  The youth’s name was not released as per provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

 

THEFT

         Cornwall, ON- On June 25, 2013 Jason Berry, 31 of Cornwall was arrested for theft under $5000.00.  On June 24, 2013, police responded to a shoplifting incident at a Second Street East store.  Investigation revealed that the male had allegedly stolen blankets from the store.  The male was subsequently charged.  He was released to attend court August 1, 2013.

DRUG SEARCH WARRANT EXECUTED

Cornwall, ON- Members of the Cornwall Community Police Service Street Crime Unit executed a drug search warrant shortly before 3:00 p.m on June 18, 2013 at an Alice Street residence. As a result of the investigation James Spencer, 40, of Cornwall was charged with three counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Breach of Undertaking for Failing to Keep the Peace and be of Good Behavior. He was released to appear in court July 23, 2013.

The total value of substance seized, believed to be cocaine and hydromorphone, is estimated at $300.00.

DRUGS

         Cornwall, ON- On June 19, 2013, Members of the Cornwall Community Police Service Street Crime Unit arrested Lynda McBain, 39 of Cornwall, with Trafficking in Cocaine, Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Breach of Probation for Failing to Keep the Peace and be of Good Behavior.  She was released to attend court July 23, 2013.

The total value of the substance seized, believed to be cocaine and marijuana, is estimated at $300.00.

DOMESTIC MISCHIEF

(South Dundas) -On 21Jun13, at approximately 1:37pm, Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry Ontario Provincial Police (SD&G OPP) officers responded to a report of a domestic incident on Hustler Cr., South Dundas Township.

The investigation revealed that a female and her 22yr old boyfriend were involved in a verbal altercation that resulted in the male damaging the female’s property.

He was arrested and faces charges of:

– Mischief (under $5000)

He is scheduled to appear 09July13 in Cornwall Criminal court.

IMPAIRED

(South Glengarry) – On 21June13, at approximately 11:52pm, SD&G OPP officers had occasion to stop a male, suspected of consuming alcohol, while driving away in his vehicle, in Lancaster, South Glengarry Township.

The 45yr old male driver (Jean Paul ROBINSON of South Glengarry,On) was requested by officers to provide a sample of his breath to which he refused.

He was arrested and faces charges of:

-Fail to accompany peace officer for Breath Sample / Approved Instrument / Peace Officer demand / Motor Vehicle

He is scheduled to appear 04Jul13 in Alexandria court.

DANGEROUS OPERATION OF ATV

(North Dundas) – On 22June13, at approximately 12:16am, SD&G OPP officers had occasion to stop an ATV for unsafe driving on Clark Road, North Dundas Township.

The investigation revealed that the 31yr old male driver (Jason FOSTER of North Grenville, On) was in breach of his previous probation orders as well as not to be driving a motor vehicle.

He was arrested and faces charges of:

-Drive disqualified x 3
-Breach of probation order x 2
-Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle
-Possession of schedule II Cannabis Marihuana – under 30 grams

He was held in custody pending an appearance in Cornwall court.

 

IMPAIRED DRIVER

(South Stormont) – On 24June13, at approximately 11:41am, Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry Ontario Provincial Police (SD&G OPP) responded to a traffic complaint on Eaman Road, South Stormont Township, Ontario.

The investigation revealed that the 21yr old male driver (William SANDERSON of South Stormont, On) was operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol.

He was arrested and faces charges of:

– Impaired Operation / Motor Vehicle / Alcohol

– Exceed 80 Milligrams Blood Alcohol Content / Motor Vehicle

– Possession Schedule II Cannabis Marihuana – under 30 grams

He is scheduled to appear 04July13 in Cornwall Criminal Court.

 

BREACHED PROBATION ORDER

(North Dundas) – On 24June13, at approximately 8:55pm, Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry Ontario Provincial Police (SD&G OPP) officers responded to a report of a male beaching his earlier release conditions on Main Street Morewood, Ontario.

The investigation revealed that a 27yr old male (Adam DILLABOUGH of North Dundas, On) was communicating with an individual he was not to associate with.

He was arrested and faces charges of:

– Breach of Probation Order

He is scheduled to appear 06Aug13 in Morrisburg Criminal Court.

SIU Investigates Motorcycle Injuries in London

Mississauga (26 June, 2013) — Ontario’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU) is probing the circumstances surrounding the injuries sustained by a 25-year-old male in London last night.

Preliminary information indicates the following:
• On June 25, 2013, at about 9:50p.m., an officer with the London Police Service (LPS) attempted to stop a motorcycle in the area of Wellington Road and Horton Street.
• The motorcycle did not stop, and fled the area.
• A short time later, the motorcycle was involved in a single vehicle collision on High Street near Wellington Road.
• The motorcycle driver sustained serious injuries and was transported to London Health Sciences Centre.

The SIU has assigned three investigators, two forensic investigators and a collision reconstructionist to probe the circumstances of this incident.

Anyone who may have witnessed this incident is asked to contact the lead investigator at 416-622-2314 or 1-800-787-8529 extension 2314.

The SIU is an arm’s length agency that investigates reports involving police where there has been death, serious injury or allegations of sexual assault. Under the Police Services Act, the Director of the SIU must

  • consider whether an officer has committed a criminal offence  in connection with the incident under investigation
  • depending on the evidence, lay a criminal charge against the officer if appropriate or close the file without any charges being laid
  • report the results of any investigations to the Attorney General.
