DOMESTIC MISCHIEF and THEFT UNDER

 

            Cornwall, ON- A 33-year-old Cornwall, ON female was arrested on July 16th, 2013. It is alleged that on the 14th of July 2013 while in her boyfriend’s car a verbal argument ensued at which point she removed property belonging to him then damaged his car. Police were contacted and began an investigation. During their investigation the female was contacted and on the 16th of July she attended police headquarters to turn herself in. She was charged with Theft Under $5000 and Mischief. She was held for a bail hearing later that day.  Her name was not released as it would identify the victim.

 

DOMESTIC ASSAULT, SEXUAL ASSAULT AND UNLAWFULLY IN DWELLING

             Cornwall, ON- A 23-year-old Lunenburg male was arrested on the 16th of July, 2013. It is alleged that on the 15th of July, 2013 he attended his ex-girlfriend’s residence where they got into an argument at which point he assaulted and sexually assaulted her. Police were contacted and began an investigation. During their investigation on the 16th of July, 2013 they located the male, took him into custody and charged him with Assault, Sexual Assault and Unlawfully in a dwelling. He was held in custody to await a bail hearing. His name was not released as it would identify the victim.

DOMESTIC ASSAULT and BREACHES

Cornwall, Ont. – A 51-year-old Cornwall man was arrested and charged with assault on the 16th July, 2013. It is alleged that a man was involved in an argument with his 42-year-old wife when he pushed her. Police were called and an investigation followed. He was subsequently taken into custody and charged accordingly.  He was held in custody to appear in court on the 17th of July, 2013.  His name was not released as it would identify the victim in the incident.

Cornwall, ON- A 19-year-old Cornwall male was arrested on the 16th of July, 2013. The male who is bound by an Undertaking with relevant conditions to keep the peace and not to associate with a certain female that he was allegedly seen with in the area of the harbour. Police attended the area and he was arrested and charged accordingly. He was then taken to police headquarters where he was held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it would identify the female in the incident.

FAILED TO APPEAR

Cornwall, ON – Adam Bouchard, 24 of Cornwall was arrested on the 16th of July, 2013 and charged with failing to appear for prints. It is alleged that the man failed to attend for prints   on the 2nd of July, 2013.  He was subsequently spotted by an officer on community patrol and taken into custody.  He was later released to appear in court on the 15th of August, 2013.

ARSON

Cornwall, ON- On the 16th of July, 2013 two 13-year-old Cornwall youths were arrested and charged with arson. It is alleged that on the 28thJune, 2013 the two youths attended St-Therese park and started a fire which caused extensive damage to a building. Both youths were released and are required to attend court at a later date. Their names were not released as per the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

 

ASSAULT

 

Cornwall, ON- On the 16th of July, 2013 Paavo Jones, 47 of Cornwall was arrested for assault. It is alleged that on that date he attended a Pitt Street business where a verbal argument ensued between him and another male. It was at this time that the victim was pushed by the man. Police were contacted and began their investigation. He later attended police headquarters where he was charged then released with a court date of the 27th of August 2013.

 

 

Cornwall, ON- On the 16th of July, 2013 Allan Rothstein, 60 of Cornwall was arrested for assault. It is alleged that on that date he was involved in a verbal argument with another male. It was at this time that the victim was punched by the man. Police were contacted and began their investigation. During their investigation they arrested Rothstein for assault. He was transported to police headquarters and released to appear in court the 13th of August, 2013.

 

POSSESSION STOLEN PROPERTY, BREAK AND ENTER

 

           Cornwall, ON – On the 16th of July, 2013 a 16-year-old Cornwall youth was arrested following an investigation to an alleged break and enter at a St-Felix street residence. Police were contacted and began their investigation. During their investigation the youth was located and also found to be in possession of stolen property. He was arrested and charged with possession of stolen property and break and enter. He was transported to police headquarters and held to await a bail hearing. His name was not released as per the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

UNLAWFULLY IN DWELLING, THREATS

 

            Cornwall, ON- A18-year-old Cornwall, ON male was arrested on July 15th, 2013. It is alleged that on the 15th of July 2013 he attended his 20-year-old sister’s residence in Cornwall then entered and removed personal belongings without her permission. When he was confronted by his sister the male threatened her. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During the investigation police located the male and arrested him for Unlawfully in a Dwelling and Threats. He was transported to police headquarters where he was released to appear in court on the 27th of August 2013. His name was not released as it would identify the victim.

 

 

DOMESTIC ASSAULT

 

Cornwall, ON- A 45-year-old Cornwall male was arrested on July 15th, 2013. It is alleged that on the 15th of July, 2013 he was involved in a verbal argument with his 53-year-old girlfriend and assaulted her. Police were called and an investigation ensued. During their investigation they arrested the male for assault. He was transported to police headquarters where he was held for a bail hearing on the 16th July 2013. His name was not released as it would identify the victim.

 

 

WARRANT

 

           Cornwall, ON- A 48-year-old Cornwall male was arrested on the 15th of July, 2013 when he turned himself in to police on an outstanding warrant. It is alleged that he was in breach of his conditional sentence order by not being in his residence at all times except with written permission. He was held in custody for a bail hearing.

(North Glengarry) – On 16July13, at approximately 3:15pm, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of a motor vehicle collision on Highway 417, North Glengarry Township.

Early stages of the investigation indicate that a 47yr old female driver (Inas Naseif BOLUS of Ottawa, On) was operating a 2001 Subaru west bound on Highway 417, North Glengarry Township (when for reasons under investigation) the vehicle left the roadway and went into the ditch.

The 47yr old female driver was pronounced deceased at the scene, a 15yr old male passenger was transported to Ottawa with serious injuries.
The highway was closed for approximately 6 hrs while emergency personnel attended to the scene.

SD&G OPP members and Technical Traffic Collision investigators continue the investigation.

SIU Investigating Motorcycle Death on Highway 401 Near Belleville

Mississauga (16 July, 2013) — Ontario’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU) is probing the circumstances surrounding a fatal motorcycle collision near Belleville early this morning.

Preliminary information indicates the following:
• At approximately 12:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 16, 2013, a motorcycle was traveling westbound on Highway 401;
• An officer with the Ontario Provincial Police Napanee Detachment (OPP) attempted to stop the motorcycle.
• The driver of the motorcycle crossed the highway and continued westbound in the eastbound lane.
• A short distance later the motorcycle collided with an eastbound vehicle.
• The male motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.

The SIU has assigned three investigators, two forensic investigators to probe the circumstances of this incident.

The SIU is an arm’s length agency that investigates reports involving police where there has been death, serious injury or allegations of sexual assault. Under the Police Services Act, the Director of the SIU must

  • consider whether an officer has committed a criminal offence  in connection with the incident under investigation
  • depending on the evidence, lay a criminal charge against the officer if appropriate or close the file without any charges being laid
  • report the results of any investigations to the Attorney General.
