DOMESTIC ASSAULT WITH A WEAPON, DANGEROUS OPERATION, FAIL TO REMAIN

             Cornwall, ON- A 22-year-old Long Sault male was arrested on the 19th of July, 2013. It is alleged that on the 11th of July, 2013 while in the area of Walton Street and Prince Arthur Street he drove his vehicle onto the sidewalk striking his ex-girlfriend and another male. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During their investigation on the 19th of July, 2013 they located the male by the boat launch and charged him with Assault with a Weapon x2, Dangerous Operation, fail to stop at an accident and for breaching a Probation order for not keeping the peace. He was later released with a court date of the 27th August, 2013. His name was not released as it would identify the victim.

DOMESTIC MISCHIEF AND BREACHES

 

Cornwall, ON- A 38-year-old Cornwall male was arrested on July 20th, 2013. It is alleged that on the 19th of July, 2013 a verbal argument between a male and his 32-year-old wife resulted in the male damaging a cell phone. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During their investigation they located the male in the area of Ninth Street. The man was charged with Mischief Under $5000 and breaching Probation conditions by having consumed alcohol and failing to keep the peace. He was transported to police headquarters where he was held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it would identify the victim.

DOMESTIC ASSAULT and BREACHES

Cornwall, Ont. – A 35-year-old Lunenburg man was arrested on the 21st of July, 2013. It is alleged that on the 20th of July, 2013 a man attended his 32-year-old ex-girlfriend’s residence and during that time threatened her. Police were called and an investigation followed. The male was also found to be bound by a probation order to keep the peace. He was subsequently taken into custody and charged accordingly.  He was held in custody to appear in court for a bail hearing.  His name was not released as it would identify the victim in the incident.

BREACHES

Cornwall, ON- Shane Sarault, 21 of Cornwall was arrested on the 19th July 2013. He was bound by a Recognizance order with the relevant condition not to associate with persons under the age of 16 unless supervised and a probation order to Keep the Peace and be of Good Behaviour. It is alleged that on July 19th, 2013, he was seen by a uniformed officer at the Harbour in the presence of a 15 year old female. The male was charged with breaching his conditions and held for a bail hearing on the 20th of July 2013.

 

Cornwall, ON- David Armstrong, 52 of Cornwall was arrested on the 20th of July 2013. It is alleged that police were called to attend the area Prince Albert Street for a neighbour dispute and in speaking with the male an odour of alcohol was detected. He was charged with breaching an Undertaking for having consumed alcohol and failing to keep the peace and breach of probation for not keeping the peace. He was subsequently held for a bail hearing.

 

CAUSE DISTURBANCE AND RESIST

 

             Cornwall, ON- Michael Mantle, 43 of Cornwall was arrested on the 20th of July 2013. It is alleged that on the 20th of July 2013, the male was shouting at a wedding party in the area of 340 Pitt Street. A uniformed officer who was in the area attempted to calm the male to no avail. The male was taken into custody following a brief scuffle. He was then charged with Cause disturbance and resist. He will appear in court at a later date.

 

VOYEURISM

 

            Mykie Bergeron, 34 of Ingleside was arrested on the 20th of July, 2013. It is alleged that on the 19th of July, 2013 a 32-year-old female attended a local store where a male attempted to take inappropriate pictures of her. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. The male was contacted by police and attended police head quarters to turn himself in. He was charged with Voyeurism and released with a court date of the 27th of August 2013.

 

FAIL TO APPEAR

Cornwall, ON – Blandine Mukuna, 31 of Cornwall was arrested on the 20th of July, 2013 and charged with failing to appear for prints and breaching an Undertaking and Probation order for not keeping the peace. It is alleged that the female failed to attend for prints on the 12th of July, 2013.  She was subsequently located by an officer on community patrol and taken into custody.  She was then held for a bail hearing.

 

ASSAULT

 

Andrea Bedard ,34 of Cornwall was arrested on the 21st of July 2013.It is alleged that while a 52-year-old male was waiting in his vehicle near her residence she approached him and after a brief discussion spat on him. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During their investigation they arrested the female for assault. She was transported to police headquarters where she was released with a court date of the 29th of August, 2013.

 

OVER 80

David Legue, 46 of Cornwall was arrested on the21st of July, 2013. It is alleged that shortly after 5pm on the 21st of July, 2013 the male was found to be operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. He was taken into custody then released with a court date of the 6th of August, 2013.

DRUG OFFENCE

(South Stormont) – On July 19, 2013 at approximately 3:15pm, an SD&G OPP officer had the occasion to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation on Highway 401, South Stormont Township. The stop resulted in the seizure of a small quantity of suspected marihuana.

A 34year old male passenger from Cornwall was arrested and is charged with;

– Possession of a Controlled Substance

He was released to appear in Cornwall court on August 27, 2013.

SEXUAL ASSAULT

(South Glengarry) – On July 20, 2013 at approximately 6:00am, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of a sexual assault which had occurred at a property on South Service Road, South Glengarry Township.

Investigation revealed a male had assaulted two females overnight (19-20Jul13). The 52year old man from South Glengarry was arrested and is charged with;

– Sexual Assault
– Sexual Interference with a Person Under 16

He was held in custody pending a court appearance (bail) in Cornwall this date (22Jul13)

IMPAIRED DRIVER FACES SEVERAL CHARGES

(South Dundas) – On July 20, 2013 at approximately 6:00pm, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of an erratic driving complaint involving an All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV) in the Village of Morrisburg, South Dundas Township. The vehicle was located a short time later by police at a residence on Fifth Street. Investigation revealed the male driver was under the influence of alcohol. Upon his arrest, the male became belligerent and verbally threatened officer’s lives.

John Allan MCINTOSH (33) of Cardinal ON is charged with;

– Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle
– Fail to Accompany Officer for Breath Sample
– Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle
– Utter Threats (3 counts)

He was held in custody pending a court appearance (bail) in Cornwall.

THEFT/TRESPASS

(South Dundas) – On July 21, 2013 at approximately 9:15pm, SD&G OPP officers on patrol observed a suspicious vehicle parked at the dump site on Seibert Road, South Dundas Township. Investigation revealed the theft of metal material from the site.

Ralph HUNTER (57) of South Dundas Township was arrested and is charged with;

– Theft
– Trespassing (Trespass to Property Act)

He was released to appear in Morrisburg court on October 02, 2013.

MOTOR VEHICLE COLLISION

(North Dundas) – On July 20, 2013 at approximately 11:30pm, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of a single vehicle motor vehicle collision on River Road, North Dundas Township.

A 2008 Mazda passenger vehicle, driven by a 54year old male (lone occupant) from North Dundas, was eastbound on River Road when the driver failed to negotiate a curve, left the roadway and struck a tree. He was taken to Ottawa hospital with life-threatening injuries.

SD&G OPP officers, assisted by OPP Technical Traffic Collision investigators continue to investigate.
FIRE

(South Dundas) – On July 21, 2013 at approximately 3:00am, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of a fire at a property on Froats Road, South Dundas Township. South Dundas Fire Department attended the scene and extinguished a fire of a camper trailer adjacent to a residence.

SD&G OPP is assisting the Ontario Fire Marshall with the investigation.

TRAFFIC HIGHLIGHTS

(SD&G) – Over the past weekend, SD&G OPP and Highway Safety Division (HSD) officers conducted several traffic safety enforcement initiatives throughout the United Counties. This is over and above routine patrol conducted by officers. The following are some results/charges;

– Suspended Drivers – 2
– Seatbelt violations – 8
– Distracted Drivers – 10
– Excessive Speeds (50+over limit) – 4
– Drive no Insurance – 1
– 3 Day Suspension (alcohol) – 1
– Other various charges – 8

“Safety on our roadways continues to be paramount during the busy summer months and visibility of our officers will be at a premium” states Inspector Brendan MacDonald, SD&G OPP Detachment Commander. “It is imperative that all motorists drive with safety as a priority which reduces the potential for tradgedy” he adds.
