Gionni Garlow, baby of Cornwall Ontario Mom Julie Bilotta Passes Away – October 14, 2013

jg2Cornwall Ontario – The sad tale of little Gionni Garlow ended recently when the ailing tot passed away.    His life from the start was in headlines.

He was born in jail.  His mother, Julie Bilotta, (Julie Dakota Garlow) on social media was in jail where she gave birth after guards did not accept that she was in labour.

The experience for Ms Bilotta was horrific.   Little Gionni’s life was in the spotlight from his first breath nearly until his sad last.  Grist for the mill.

As I type this story it has been covered all over the region, from Cornwall to Ottawa and picked up by services.

Media outlets are rehashing Ms Bilotta’s ordeal that led to today.  In fact if not for her previous situation the media would most certainly not be publishing the death.

People are expressing themselves about this on Facebook and Twitter.   Most are of course about condolences.

I would like to think that something positive can come out of tragedy.    I’m an optimist that way.    The gift of motherhood and children are the greatest on our planet and something that more people need to be more focused on and cherish.

CFN wishes to send its condolences to Julie and her entire family.   To post condolences to Julie you can click this link to her Facebook page.   LINK

SUDDEN DEATH

Cornwall, ON – Shortly after 5 a.m., on Sunday, October 13th, 2013, Cornwall Community Police Service responded to a report of a 13-month-old child with vital signs absent, at a Cornwall residence. The child was transported to hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

As is the Provincial Standard, such cases are automatically investigated by the Regional Coroner’s Office, with the assistance of the police, to attempt and determine the cause and manner of death. An autopsy is scheduled later the week.

Out of respect for the family the Cornwall Community Police are not releasing the name of the infant at this time.

  1. My condolences to you and your family during this hard time

  2. What a horrible tragedy and Jamie if it were not for your paper I wouldn’t have heard about it since I do not read any other paper but your own. I have not turned on the radio either. This little baby didn’t have a chance since the beginning.

  3. My heart aches for this baby, his mother, and the extended family. How quickly life changes sometimes.

  4. My condolences to Julie

  5. My condolences to Julie,Dakota and especially little Gionni’s siblings…regardless of what has happened in the past 13 months of his life no one deserves to be trashed…no parent deserves to go through this at all…its heartbreaking so ppl need to keep any bad comments to themselves right now and let this family grieve

  6. There need be no negative comments.
One only hopes that those with whom responsibility rests, will recognize their role in this tragedy, consider the consequences of all their actions, and not blame others. But instead, put their life in order and focus on the ones who still need security, nurture and a loving home.

  7. I just read on yahoo that there will be an autopsy done to the baby. What a very sad situation. The baby would be in heaven in the care of Jesus. That made me cry a lot.

  8. My second child (a girl) was born two months premature (labor was induced) and she was born with a hole in the right lung. I went through terrible times and it was at the Grace General Hospital where the hospital belonged to some very great people “The Salvation Army” and my doctor was one of Ottawa’s best and was a doctor during WWII. My doctor took his patients there because of the great care and he remembered the good that the Salvation Army did during the war. I prayed with the Salvation Army people for the Good Lord to heal my daughter. I was in a breakdown and tonight I mourn for this lady’s baby. I cannot stop thinking about this since I went through a horrible time. My daughter was born with a hole in her right lung and was in an incubator at the Children’s Hospital for three weeks without me able to hold her. This lady is going through a great deal now and needs our prayers badly. This brought back too many memories for me. I cannot express the sorrow that I feel and there isn’t enough sentiment that I could offer this lady and her family that it is so tragic that there are no words to express. I am very deeply sorry for your terrible loss.
