And to add irony to the pot the councilor was seeking funds from the city to help the charity’s commercial store to sell goods collected from the community. IE; Councilor Elaine MacDonald wanted money from the taxpayers to help the charity she sits on as a board member, compete with local stores which are already over burdened by heavy commercial taxes on property in Cornwall.
The video clearly shows the utter mayhem and disconnection with proper procedure this council and management have with political reality and procedure. And what is with Mayor Kilger talking so rudely to duly elected councilor Gerry Samson, again?
Sorry, here’s the real gong show video below
In a city where you can’t hold a job for the city and be an elected official it’s utterly hypocritical for Ms MacDonald to use her elected office to advocate for any agency she sits on as a board member. What’s even more odd is that not one of the other 9 councilors, mayor or staff called her on this.
The Agape itself is under fire and scrutiny with multiple staff pending lawsuits/issues. While a food bank and services are needed and vital, the public clearly is not wanting to support this organization and it is having to go to the city looking for extra funding. Some have suggested that more is being spent on salaries and the facility than it is delivering in services to the community.
hijacked taken a seat on the board of another city leech agency seeking funding, TAG where she has her cohort Carilyne Hebert, the former youth leader of the local NDP. Ms Hebert also sits on the board of the Agape coincidentally.
