Possible Via Rail Train Suicide Near Cornwall Ontario – March 10, 2014

lornaTRAINCORNWALL Ontario – SD&G OPP officers are currently at the scene of a train (Via) and pedestrian collision near 5TH Line Road, South Glengarry Township.

The investigation has revealed that a male was struck by an eastbound via passenger train at approximately 4:00pm just west the Ontario/Quebec border.

The investigation is ongoing as to the identity and age of the deceased male.

SD&G OPP is requesting that traffic use an alternate route other than 5th Line Road to travel North and South.

Via Rail arranged buses to transport the passengers to Montreal.  The deceased is said to be a young male in his early 20’s.

  1. It is against the law to walk on the railroad tracks. It is terrible that this had to happen. I will never forget what happened here in Ottawa between a double decker bus and a Via Train. I will not travel in those double decker buses at all. I just cringe when I see them.
