Cornwall, ON – A 19-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on March 28th, 2014 and charged with breach of recognizance for having communicated with someone he is not allowed to and for having failed to keep the peace. It is alleged that on March 27th, 2014 police were verifying that the man was complying with his conditions when the man’s 17-year-old girlfriend was found to be at his place of residence despite the man being on conditions of no contact with that person. On March 28th, 2014 the man attended police headquarters to deal with the matter. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it might identify the victim in a previous domestic incident.

 

THEFT UNDER, BREACH

 

Cornwall, ON – Bonnie Thompson, 42 of Cornwall was arrested on March 28th, 2014 and charged with theft under $5000 and breach of two undertakings for having failed to keep the peace. It is alleged that on March 28th, 2014 the woman attended a Ninth Street store and selected several items before leaving making no attempts to pay for them. She was stopped by the Loss Prevention Officer and police were contacted. Police assumed custody of the woman, charged her accordingly and later released her to appear in court on May 1st, 2014.

 

DRIVE DISQUALIFIED, BREACH AND OVER 80

 

Cornwall, ON – Phillip Poirier, 43 of Cornwall was arrested on March 28th, 2014 and charged with over 80, drive disqualified and breach of probation for having consumed alcohol and failing to keep the peace. It is alleged that on March 28th, 2014 the man was found to be operating a motor vehicle despite being on conditions not to all the while under the influence of alcohol. The man was taken into custody during a traffic stop in the area of Twelfth Street and Pitt Street. He was charged accordingly and later released to appear in court on April 17th, 2014.

 

MISCHIEF

 

Cornwall, ON – A 21-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on March 29th, 2014 and charged with mischief. It is alleged that on March 29th, 2014 the man was involved in a verbal argument with his 22-year-old girlfriend when he threw some dresser drawers outside causing them to be damaged. The man also allegedly kicked a door causing the frame to be damaged. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During their investigation the man was located at a local hotel and taken into custody. He was charged accordingly and later released to appear in court on April 15th, 2014. His name was not released as it might identify the victim in the matter.

 

THEFT UNDER $5000

 

Cornwall, ON – Lise Dufresne, 47 and Carmen Tarbell, 49 both of Cornwall were arrested on March 30th, 2014 and charged with theft under $5000. Dufresne was also charged with breaching her probation order for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged that on March 30th, 2014 the two women attended a 79-year-old man’s residence and removed his wallet that contained a quantity of Canadian currency. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During their investigation the two women were located at a Second Street address, taken into custody and charged accordingly. Lise Dufresne was later released to appear in court on May 1st, 2014 and Carmen Tarbell was released to appear in court on May 6th, 2014.

(South Glengarry) – On 29Mar14, at approximately 12:30am, SD&G OPP officers responded to a request for assistance from Ministry Transportation Officers (MTO) at the Lancaster scales, South Glengarry Township.

SD&G OPP officers attended the scene and conducted an investigation resulting in the seizure (small amount) of suspected cocaine.

The 41yr old male driver (Martin LAMARCHE of Saint-Calixte, QC) and his male passenger (Martin SABOURIN of no fixed address) were arrested and face charges of:

– Poss. of a Schedule I Substance for the purpose of trafficking – Cocaine
– Poss.  Of a Schedule I Substance – Cocaine
– Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Weapon

The passenger (Sabourin) was held in custody pending an appearance in Cornwall court while the driver (Lamarche) is scheduled to appear 14May14 in Alexandria court.
