Cornwall PoliceINDECENT ACT

            Cornwall, ON – A 15-year-old Cornwall youth was arrested on April 16th, 2014 and charged with indecent act. It is alleged that on April 15th, 2014 the youth exposed himself to a 16-year-old girl while in the area of Fifth Street and York Street. On April 16th, 2014 police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During their investigation the youth was taken into custody, charged accordingly and later released to appear at a future court date. His name was not released as per provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

THEFT UNDER $5000, BREACH

            Cornwall, ON – Shawna Mitchell, 35 of Cornwall was arrested on April 16th, 2014 and charged with theft under $5000 and breach of undertaking for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged that on April 16th, 2014 the woman attended a Ninth Street store and removed some beef and chicken making no attempts to pay for the items as she exited the store. She was stopped by the Loss Prevention Officer and police were contacted. She was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

Cornwall, ON – Amanda Laplante, 30 of Cornwall was arrested on April 17th, 2014 and charged with theft under $5000, breach of an undertaking for failing to keep the peace and for attending a specific store despite being on conditions not to. She was also taken into custody for breaching a conditional sentence order for being out of her residence, attending a specific store and failing to keep the peace. It is alleged that on April 16th, 2014 the woman attended a Brookdale Avenue store and removed and electric shaver making no attempts to pay for the item. The Loss Prevention Officer attempted to stop the woman who then fled the scene. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On April 17th, 2014 police attended the woman’s residence, took her into custody, charged her accordingly and held her for a bail hearing.

THREATS, BREACH

            Cornwall, ON – A 30-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on April 16th, 2014 and charged with threats to life and breach of undertaking for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged that on April 15th, 2014 during an argument the man sent a text message threatening to shoot his 25-year-old girlfriend, her friend and her two dogs. On April 16th, 2014 police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During their investigation police located the man in the area and took him into custody. He was charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it might identify the victim in the matter.

BREAK AND ENTER

            Cornwall, ON – A 29-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on April 17th, 2014 and charged with break and enter. It is alleged that on April 17th, 2014 while at a rooming house the man forced his way into a 56-year-old’s room to confront him on an issue. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During the investigation the man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it might identify the victim in the matter.

FRAUD, ATTEMPT FRAUD

             Cornwall, ON – Corinne Vandusen, 57 of Cornwall was arrested on April 17th, 2014 and charged with two counts of fraud and two counts of attempt fraud. It is alleged that during the month of May, 2014 the woman deposited empty envelopes into an ABM on two occasions and withdrew money. She was also unsuccessful on two other occasions. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On April 17th, 2014 the woman attended police headquarters to deal with the matter. She was taken into custody, charged accordingly and later released to appear in court at a later date.

BREACH

            Cornwall, ON – A 45-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on April 18th, 2014 and charged with assault, breach of a probation order for being out in public after having consumed alcohol and for failing to keep the peace. He was also charged with breaching an undertaking for having failed to keep the peace. It is alleged that on April 18th, 2014 during an argument with his 46-year-old girlfriend the man pushed her and left the residence. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During their investigation the man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it might identify the victim in the matter.

THREATS

            Cornwall, ON – Luc Marion, 22 of Cornwall was arrested on April 19th, 2014 and charged with threats. It is alleged that on April 19th, 2014 during a phone conversation the man threatened to stab a 51-year-old man. Police were called and an investigation ensued. During their investigation police located the man at his residence, took him into custody and charged him accordingly. He was transported to police headquarters and later released to appear in court on May 20th, 2014.

TRANSPORTATION FRAUD, BREACH

            Cornwall, ON – Kelly Allen, 50 of Cornwall was arrested on April 19th, 2014 and charged with transportation fraud and breach of an undertaking and probation order for having consumed alcohol and failing to keep the peace as well as two other probation orders for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged that on April 19th, 2014 the intoxicated man refused to pay his taxi fare and police were contacted to investigate. During their investigation the man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

BREACH

            Cornwall, ON – Steven Coleman, 30 of Cornwall was arrested on April 19th, 2014 for having breached his conditional sentence order. It is alleged that on April 19th, 2014 police attended the man’s residence to confirm that he was abiding by his conditions when it was learned that the man was out despite being on conditions not to. Police later located the man at a St-Felix Street address and took him into custody. He was transported to police headquarters and held for a bail hearing.

BREACH, TRESSPASS BY NIGHT, POSSESSION BREAK IN TOOLS

            Cornwall, ON – Gerald Poistras, 47 of Cornwall was arrested on April 20th, 2014 and charged with trespass by night, possession of break in tools, breach of an undertaking and probation order for failing to keep the peace and breach of a second undertaking for being out past curfew. It is alleged that in the early morning hours of April 20th, 2014 the man was spotted by a member of the Cornwall Community Police Service in the area of Montreal Road and St-Felix Street breaching his conditions. After a brief foot pursuit the man was taken into custody and was found to be in possession of break in tools. He was charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

 

WARRANT

            Cornwall, ON – Santhiralingam Savalingam, 60 of Cornwall was arrested on April 21st, 2014 on the strength of a warrant. It is alleged that during the months of February and March, 2013 the man fraudulently obtained money from a 50-year-old man that was known to him. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During their investigation the man’s whereabouts were unknown and a warrant was issued for his arrest. On April 21st, 2014 members of the Cornwall Community Police Service attended the area of Vars as the OPP had the man in custody on the strength of Cornwall’s warrant. He was transported to police headquarters and later released to appear in court at a later date.

BREACH

            Cornwall, ON – A 34-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on April 21st, 2014 and charged with breaching a recognizance for having communicated with his 38-year-old ex-girlfriend and children. He was also charged with breaching a probation order for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged that during the month of April, 2014 the man had contact with his ex-girlfriend and children on several occasions despite being on conditions not to. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During their investigation the man was located in the area of his residence and taken into custody. He was charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it might identify the victim in the matter.

OPP

Ontario Provincial Police News Portal [STORMONT DUNDAS and GLENGARRY] Charges Laid / Domestic Incident / R.I.D.E. Stop Leads to Arrest / Impaired Driver 2014-04-22

(South Stormont) – On 18Apr14, at approximately 9:00pm, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of a suspicious person on Shaver Road, South Stormont Township.

The investigation revealed that a 30yr old male (from Essa Township) was attempting to gain access to a fenced area. The male was arrested and faces charges of:

– Possession Break In Instruments
– Break, Enter a place – with intent to commit indictable offence
– Poss. of a Schedule I Substance – Cocaine
– Fail to Comply with Probation Order

He was held in custody pending an appearance in Cornwall court.
DOMESTIC INCIDENT

(North Glengarry) – On 19Apr14, at approximately 04:15am, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of a domestic incident on Lindsey St. Alexandria, On.

The investigation revealed that a female and her 57yr old husband were involved in a verbal altercation that resulted in the male assaulting the female.

He was arrested and faces charges of:

– Uttering Threats – Cause Death or Bodily Harm
– Assault – Spousal
– Overcome Resistance by Attempting to Choke, Suffocate or Strangle another Person

He is scheduled to appear 13May14 in Cornwall court.
R.I.D.E. STOP RESULTS IN ARREST

(North Dundas) – On 20Apr14, at approximately 7:30pm, SD&G OPP officers were conducting a R.I.D.E. (reduce impaired driving everywhere) check stop at the junction of County Road 1 and County Road 43, North Dundas Township.

Officers checked a vehicle being operated by a 46yr old male (Peter GAGNON of Ottawa, On) the check revealed that the male was operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol.

He was arrested and faces charges of:

– Driving While Ability Impaired
– Driving with more than 80 mgs. of Alcohol in Blood

He is scheduled to appear 06May14 in Cornwall court.
IMPAIRED DRIVER

(South Stormont) – On 20Apr14, at approximately 03:00am, SD&G OPP officers had occasion to conduct a traffic stop on County Road 2, South Stormont Township.

The stop revealed that the 23yr old female driver (Ashley BELANGER of Cornwall, On) was operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol.

She was arrested and faces charges of:

– Driving While Ability Impaired
– Driving with more than 80 mgs. of Alcohol in Blood

She is scheduled to appear 06May14 in Cornwall court.
