Will Habs Sweep the Lightning? by Jamie Gilcig Wings & Bruins – Flyers & Rangers – April 22, 2014

608px-Clarence_Campbell_Stanley_Cup_1957CFN – In a few hours the Montreal Canadiens will take on the Tampa Bay Lighting.  The Lighting have been very good this season and the Hockey Gods have smiled down on Montreal and somehow given them a 3 games to 0 lead in this series.   With a few bounces it could be 3-0 Tampa Bay.

While it’s hard to criticize a team up 3-0 the facts are that Montreal has been very fortunate.

The call by ref Francis Charron may have been embarrassing and even the wrong call, but Tampa had their chances to come back, but it wasn’ t their night to do so.

While not earning a star PK Subban was a key to the Win.

Tonight is game 4 and Steve Stamkos and the Lighting will be playing with a lot of pride.

I’ve always said that wearing the Habs jersey in hockey is like wearing a Yankee shirt in baseball.  There’s history; there is the legend; and of course there are the ghosts of Greats gone by.

Montreal owes it to its fans to play this game as though it were game 7 of the finals.   They need to please the ghosts and gods of hockey.

The need to bury this one and not take their feet off the gas like they did in game 3 nearly allowing Tampa another life.

There are times to gain favors to superstition and tradition; and there are times to live up to those incredible magical things.

Tonight is one of those nights and it would be nice to see Carey Price steal a shut out, Max Pacioretty bury one, and PK add 3 points to his tally in round one.

Montreal has some of the fiercest, most insane, loyal, and devoted fans of any sport.   If you win for them you will live forever.  It’s time to win game four for Montreal and make the Bell Centre shake!

Boston & Detroit play game three of their split series.  Daniel Alfredsson is out.    Rangers and Flyers will find out who will be up 2-1 after tonight as well.
