Long Sault – It might have been a wet dark and humid day at the market yesterday, and Friday the 13th too boot, but the sight and taste of fresh sweet strawberries brightened everyone’s day. Avonmore Berry Farm had a table full of these seasonal treats for the first time this year, at least at our market.

There were a couple more new vendors on the wet grass this week. Langview Farms made their first appearance and Lambros Quality Products brought their extra virgin olive oil to the market.

The spot reserved for community service or charitable organizations this week was occupied by a bake sale to raise money for the Long Sault Public School.

The customers were still flocking into the market despite the unsettling weather. They were buying buffalo meat, tomatoes, asparagus, cheese cake, and coffee. People were also filling their shopping bags with bread, buns, olive oil, hot sauces and Thai food for their evening meal. It almost had a party atmosphere.

The 7 day weather forecast indicates that next Friday will be sunny and 24°C with little chance of rain. It will be another great day to come to the Long Sault Farmer’s Market so mark it on your shopping list for next week.
