Cornwall Ontario’s Most Corrupt Councilor to Run Again & Another Gay Candidate – Aug 6, 2014

glen grant baseballCORNWALL Ontario – Cornwall Ontario had two more citizens offer themselves for office.   Long time Councilor Glen Grant, (pictured above sitting with little leaguer’s who protested their ball park being turned into condos) who recently was condemned in the Fournier report for moving into an illegal in camera  meeting of the waterfront committee he sits on,

and also motioned to have the same committee strike this newspaper as media from the attendence list at the same meeting, is throwing his hat into the ring again.

Joining him on the list is Shorteez hair impresario Rony Macarone.  Macarone joins Guy St. Jean as the second openly gay candidate for this election. They bring the count up to 17 names for council along with the 3 current candidates for mayor of our River City. Councilor Grant is part of a council that has refused to account for themselves over the installation of chemical tanks on our waterfront while he was on the waterfront committee claiming to know naught while the mayor; who also sits on the committee was caught lying about when he knew about the tanks which the city has confirmed had know about nearly a full year before their shocked and surprised reaction to the December construction by Trillium Distribution Cornwall Inc. What do you think of these two additions to the race Cornwall? You an post your comments below.

  1. Huh? I have to ask, Jamie. What’s your issue with gay people running for council? And, what’s a “Candiate”?

  2. Author

Furtz I have no issue with gay people and think it’s awesome that in 2014 people can feel good enough in their skin that they can be open and put themselves forward for office.

  3. Cornwall will never ever change. That is one thing about that town is that it is getting itself deeper and deeper in the ground to die. Never has Cornwall been that bad off in all of history.

  4. It is obviously an issue to you if the sexual orientation of a candidate is announced in the headline of the story. I thought you were finally beyond BS like that.

  5. Author

No Furtz. Do you think it wouldn’t be news if Brockville had two openly gay candidates? I think it’s progress.

  6. It would be progress if the sexual orientation of anyone wasn’t headline material. You’re scraping the bottom of the barrel for this BS. Brockville has at least one elected gay councilor now. It’s not news even here in the bible-belt of Leeds-Grenville.

  7. Author

Well Furtz you are entitled to your opinion. I’ll even defend your right to express it.

  8. Furtz writes – “It is obviously an issue to you if the sexual orientation of a candidate is announced in the headline of the story. I thought you were finally beyond BS like that”.

Sounds like Furtz has a thing about sexual orientation. How often he says I have a hang up about it, look who is talking now.

  9. Author

Is there a full moon out? First it’s Julie & Jules and now PT gets the draw on Furtz and without quoting scripture?

  10. LOL LOL. Jamie I was on other sites and got tired of reading all what is going on and came back here. I just looked out from my birdhouse in the sky and I don’t see any full moon out and just rain hiding the moon. LOL LOL. ROLF! It sure is a mixture of insane nuttiness and I think that is one of the main reasons I like your site so much. LOL LOL. I can’t stop laughing. I must go outside on the balcony and howl at the moon wherever it is hiding. LOL LOL. ROLF! Gee I find this all funny indeed.

  11. Furtz wrote”It would be progress if the sexual orientation of anyone wasn’t headline material”.

Where were you when the mainstream media constantly talked of Wynne’s sexual orientation (for weeks)after her selection to run the liberal party.

What, are only mainstream media to talk about it ?
Common Furtz you can suck and blow at the same time !

I agree it does not matter ,but honestly the mainstream media were pandering to the liberals to make it appear they are “open minded”.
Open mindedness means not making the awareness of the differences.

  12. If I go out on my balcony and howl at the moon I will have every dog in the neighborhood joining in my chorus. LOL LOL. Oh Jamie there is one thing about your site is that I laugh like crazy and curse at the same time. Love your dearly my good man you do make me laugh. In this insane world of ours we sure do need a good laugh. Too much horrible news that I am reading.

  13. Furst doest protest too much. Not that there’s anything wrong with that.

  14. Right Highlander! But also why is everyone freaked about the word gay in the headline, when another person gets most corrupt?

  15. Oh no! Did I mention the confessional? I can’t go there at all because I would be running into gay priests. I have to take my chances out there with the Good Lord before I croak for good. Oh Jamie that moon is hidden again in the dark sky. Shucks! I do see it very faintly just now. Am I lucky to be so high up to see all of this and report it back. LOL LOL.

  16. This is getting pretty funny. There was one of the more brilliant and tolerant commentators on this site who went on at length about Ontario being reduced to smoldering rubble because his god was angry that a gay person was elected premier.

  17. Toronto Star story on mayor of Brampton should be a model of investigation for CORNWALL

The heated exchange surrounding Fennell’s secret salary reduction was also supposed to be conducted BEHIND CLOSED DOORS but a motion from Sprovieri, other councillors and the mayor herself brought it into the public eye.
Finally, after a challenge from Fennell, council voted to send the investigation to an outside force and not the local Peel regional police. Fennell sits on the Peel police board and the current police Chief Jennifer Evans used to sit on the board of Fennell’s private gala, the expenses of which were questioned as part of the audit.
A legal opinion given to the City of Brampton found that Mayor Susan Fennell illegally altered her pay and violated the city’s Code of Conduct by secretly directing the treasurer to withhold a portion of her salary in 2013.

But at a council meeting Wednesday Fennell refused to accept that opinion received by the city, challenging a well-known municipal law expert who explained his legal opinion to council.

“(I)t is our opinion that the mayor did not have the power, jurisdiction or authority to direct city staff with regard to the payment of her salary to something other than what was established by council in the remuneration bylaw,” wrote John Mascarin, in his advice to the city.

  18. You neglected to mention that Jamie Gilcig, another openly-heterosexual candidate for Mayor, is also running……

  19. Furtz writes – “Ontario being reduced to smoldering rubble because…”. That will happen when King Jesus comes back during the Great Tribulation period which is written about for us in the book of Revelation.

Right now in this time of grace, because of society’s abandonment to lawlessness, God is judging in a way that is not so apparent. In Romans chapter one such phrases of God’s action is mentioned – “God gave them up” (vv.24,26), and “God gave them over..”(v.28). This means that God removes His sovereign restraining hand and allows, as in a form of punishment – retribution, rebellious sinners to do their own wicked heart’s desires.

So in the case of sodomy, we see “many coming out”, and society’s acceptance and embracing of such a perverted sexual deviation. Many would say that is good, but the real reason for such open lawlessness is that God has abandon such to vile affections – “For this reason God gave them up to passions of dishonor; for even their females exchanged the natural use for that which is contrary to nature, and likewise also the males, having left the natural use of the female, were inflamed by their lust for one another, males with males, committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the recompense which was fitting for their error”(Rom 1:26-27).

Any sexual deviation from the Biblical norm is the evidence of a society given over to idolatry. God abandons those that abandons Him and His Word. Those that God abandons, He eventually judges in a more open manifestation of His wrath – Great Tribulation, death, and Hell.

If a politician does not fear God, and it is evident in his home life – divorced, immoral, homosexual, pedophile, etc. then such have not the wisdom, insight, moral integrity to lead anyone. Such will be left to themselves to bring further judgement on society as they indulge in their immoral behavior, and rigorously promotes others to do the same. Lawlessness begets more lawlessness!

“Wisdom resteth in the heart of him that hath understanding: but that which is in the midst of fools is made known.Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people” (Proverbs 14:33-34).

  20. Back in 2006 a committee headed by Glen Grant was proposing that the new Arena( Benson complex) be built on Water Front Land, Glen is quoted in the Standard Freeholder Sept 28/06 as saying it would be a Win Win for everyone.
The Water Front Committee at that time passed a Motion rejecting that proposal.
The Canadian Legion also stepped in strongly against that proposal which stopped that foolishness from happening.
Just in case people weren’t aware or had forgotten certain facts re Cornwall’s Water Front.

I think it’s time for Councilor Grant to retire and stop trying to do whatever it is he’s trying to do for whomever he’s trying to do it for. It’s looking as bad as the time he pushed to get his good friend’s daughter a job at City Hall. (which he allegedly was successful in doing)

  22. Ha! Newton never disappoints.
    Carry on…

  23. Jamie as you well know some people would still complain about & to you even if you just write about family & pets. The same people are not complaining when other media write about what some people are talking about. More power to these people who have every right to express their love for whomever, that is their right & frankly nobody elses business,I would vote for whoever I think can do the best job. More power to them!I,m glad that in today,s world they feel free to reveal who they really are.

Mary we still live in a world where diversity isn’t what it should be. Only two out of eleven elected officials were women this term. Only one was a visible minority. I could not support a candidate that is in the closet. That’s my personal choice; not because they’re gay; but because they aren’t honest. I don’t support Guy St. Jean as a candidate; but it’s not because of his sexuality. I do give him full chops for being honest and up front with the public though. I think Rony would make a much better councilor than Guy. The point of the headline was recognizing diversity and Cornwall having a rare political positive note. We need more diversity. We need more voices; but more importantly we need a culture where people feel enfranchised and safe in participating.

Last night a friend told me of another young couple leaving Cornwall because they felt the good jobs were kept for the clique. They are taking their small business and leaving our community because the one spouse simply couldn’t find work up to their qualifications. They had applied for positions and seen people with ZERO qualifications and relative experience get the job clearly because of who they were and who they were connected to.

I hope one day that we never see this kind of scenario because we all lose when this happens.

  25. I have just one question ? Why did you feel the need to mention this persons sexual orientation ? Who’s business is that ? Not mine that is for sure…does not take away from this person potentially doing good for our community. Just think it was lack of respect for this candidate. And should not have been mentioned at all !

  26. This headline is Perez Hilton. Cheap attention grabbing. Furtz is absolutely correct. Would a Jewish candidate make the headline? A black?

  27. Pastor Newton you are absolutely right in every word you said. God lifts His hand and lets bad things happen to people who disobey Him and that is 100% and more correct on the dot. I have said that before as well. That also has to do with the Harbinger that a Rabbi in NYC who is a Messianic Jew (one who believes in Jesus) said when 911 hit. Two US Senators quoted from the Bible about when NYC was hit that they would build stronger and better and that is what the Jews said in ancient times and God punished them. The Araz tree went flying in the air that day like an arrow in the air and the Araz tree is very famous in the Middle East. They replaced it with a cedar tree which is a strong tree (the Cedars of Lebanon – it is holy). If you look at the economy today in the US, Canada and beyond it is in shambles and getting worse. I read what Americans and others say and the standard of living is going down and it is also in the Bible. Those who do not believe Pastor are in for the shock of their lives. I thank you so much Pastor for the Good Word of the Bible.

  28. If a Dog bit a child would the headline be “Dog bites todler” or would it be “Brownish husky with white-tipped tail bites over-weight boy” ? I suspect the first because that’s the only relevant information in the ‘news’ item.

  29. Interesting that there is also an article and “discussion” on this same topic on the Freeholder site at the same time. On this site, Mr. Newton is preaching about the evils of homosexuality. On the Freeholder, he is preaching about the evils of women working outside the home, where they should be serving their husbands and making babies.

  30. Furtz I don’t read the toilet paper of record – SF but I can tell you that I agree with Pastor Newton well beyond the 100% and since women had to work outside the home children are latch key kids and lost. I remember way back when I quit my government job to stay home with my kids because of the horrible care from babysitters. Yes women belong in the home. No wonder the divorce rate today is 60% and by no accident at all. Everything was planned out that way and I won’t go into it here. Society is getting a great deal worse and will continue that way until God comes back to earth. God will use His judgement on the people first. Thank you Pastor Newton because you tell the people the truth and many will not listen until it is too late.

  31. Yes Jules. You’ve made it clear over and over that you believe every word that Mr. Newton posts.

  32. Are there any openly heterosexual candidates running? Is council going to fund the heterosexual parade next year? When will the heterosexual flag be unveiled?

My point is this, many Canadian politicians in recent years have come forward to announce their sexual orientation, and it has not been heterosexuals. Personally I am about the individual and what they stand for and could care less which sex they chose to align themselves with.

When individuals make a point to advise the general public of their sexual orientation I lose respect for them and they have a long road to win it back. Tell me what you can do and not who you do.

If headlines were not catchy and sometimes a trifle misleading newspapers would have disappeared quite some time ago. Where would the tabloids be?

  33. God is awesome. She’s got a great sense of humour, creating bigots to seethe and fume over the gay folks much to the amusement of the rest of us. Quit drooling over your vengeful Old Testaments. Jesus set the example for us. Walk on the sunny side of the street for change.

  34. Jamie if you knew of all the young people back in my day in school who have left Cornwall for the very same reason that you stated about a couple in Cornwall who are leaving with their family because the daughter or whoever couldn’t get work and all the jobs were for the clique. My own daughter was told that same thing in Cornwall 11 years ago. I knew that when I was very young. Jamie Cornwall is really hopeless unless that clique leaves town along with Bare Ass otherwise I can really tell you honestly I swear to God that Cornwall will not be any different than what you see now maybe worse unless all is driven out of town and I mean that with every feeling that I have and will never ever lie to you or anyone. Cornwall is really doomed unless a huge expulsion of those people take place.

  35. @ Greg Reynolds. It depends on which god you are talking about. Mr. Newton’s god has a serious hate on for a huge portion of humanity, and seems to have out of control anger issues. My god, The Flying Spaghetti Monster, on the other hand, likes everyone as long as they aren’t being a pain in the butt. There are all kinds of gods out there… some nice and some not so nice.

  36. “Jesus set the example for us. Walk on the sunny side of the street for change”

So here is what the Lord Jesus said -“But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all. Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed”(Luke 17:29-30).

The Lord Jesus did not deny God judged Sodom and Gomorrah for it’s wicked sins. Also the Lord Jesus Christ is using Sodom’s judgment as an example of what will happen again if sinners do not repent of their wicked ways and believe the Gospel before He comes the second time. Whether it is God in the Old Testament, or in the New, God hates sin. But God, in His mercy, has provided for sinners a perfect Saviour. If you perish it is your own stubborn, perverted will that is to blame.

  37. Furtz says:”My god, The Flying Spaghetti Monster, on the other hand, likes everyone as long as they aren’t being a pain in the butt”

Well Furtz because of your frequent sarcastic comments to others and violation of not being a pain in the butt,The Flying Spaghetti Monster will deny you of that special place.

  38. Jules! You are a very talented Lady and likely a very nice Lady, however with comments 7 above what you are doing is in my opinion (without proper thought on your part) actually turning off other parties that would like to submit comments.
By so doing you are hurting Jamie and CFN.
Please think about that and have a nice Day.

  39. Actually, Highlander, The Flying Spaghetti Monster doesn’t mind a little argument and sarcasm. What he considers a pain in the butt are things like murder and the spreading of hate in the name of religion, etc. You really have to be a low-life to be on his bad side.

  40. Well Pastor Tom, I can think of a lot of places that have been struck down besides Sodom and Gommorah. Bad things can happen to good people and good things to bad ones. So if God is willing to take out innocent kids and goodhearted souls in landslides, earthquakes, fires, tsunamis, wars then I don’t see much point in shaking your fist and pointing fingers at gay people. If God is so against homosexuality why did he create it? Seems like a pretty mean-spirited trick to do to someone. Make them prefer their own sex then smite them for it later. You make it seem like people are choosing to be wicked when really, God is the wicked one for making them the way they are. Gay people don’t choose to be gay they just are.

  41. @ Greg Reynolds. Using logic is futile.

  42. Believe Me 1 thank you. I do come out with a lot of things but I don’t want to hurt Jamie or CFN in fact I want Jamie to be the best and I have always said that and I mean that. I also want what is good for Leslie O’Shaughnessey and both these men have a lot to offer Cornwall and its citizens. I was there yesterday and it was dead and I would like to see the people out enjoying the beautiful weather and contributing to the town. My entire family said that the town is beautiful and they saw the low bridge for the first time driving by it. The thing that you all have to do is get rid of the clique and get rid of the present council and Bare Ass. What Canadians make as a huge mistake is to re-elect the same bunch in year after year after year. Don’t do that at all because people become corrupt even to the nicest people believe me what I am saying is true. Cornwall itself is a beautiful town and situated in the right place but it is that dirty clique and Bare Ass who chases businesses away. My family remarked how the people of Cornwall are nice and polite and much more so than the people of Ottawa. We want businesses and good people to be attacted to Cornwall and not be chased out. Take a good look at Cornwall and you are lucky not to have all the stress that big cities have and a nice place to live and raise a family and that is the truth as long as they don’t get mixed up with the bad people and in the dirty businesses that go on.

  43. No Furtz – Greg Reynold’s logic is humanistic, unbiblical, and definitely flawed.

ps. Greg – if you took time to read the New Testament Scriptures for example, like the book of Romans, all your questions God would answer.

  44. You nailed it Jules, I think. Can you expand on those thoughts a bit so we can really understand?

  45. Pastor Tom’s fables and myths are …okay, but I prefer Greek mythology.

The Flying Spaghetti Monster sounds interesting as well.

  46. @ Trevor. If you really feel the need to embrace a religion, I highly recommend exploring Pastafarianism. You still get all the silliness of a god floating about in the sky, but without the usual bigotry and hate that seems to permeate most religions.

  47. @Furtz. Pastafarianism sounds like a pleasant alternative to most of what is out there, for sure.:)

  48. How does a discussion about whose running for city council turn into a religious discussion?
