Police Continue Search for Missing Kingston Man

Kingston Police detectives are continuing in their attempts to locate Shawn CRICKARD, who hasn’t been seen by his family since September 4.

Some tips have been received in various areas around eastern Ontario but have yet to lead to a positive identification and safe return of Shawn.

Detectives have obtained and are releasing the last known photos of Shawn obtaining fuel for his blue/purple 2002 Chrysler Sebring, with Ontario licence plate BNXM 195. On Thursday, September 4 at approximately 6:00 a.m. he attended the Petro Canada gas station located at 1586 Centennial Dr, near Gardiners Rd and Highway 401. He can be seen wearing black sunglasses, a gray t-shirt, black athletic pants with white striping near the pocket line, and beige or brown sandals.

Detectives are looking for assistance in locating a 32-year-old Kingston resident who has not been seen by friends and family since the beginning of September.

Shawn CRICKARD was last observed leaving his family residence in the west end of Kingston on Thursday, September 4 at approximately 5:45 a.m. He was driving a blue four-door 2002 Chrysler Sebring with Ontario licence plate BNXM 195.

Family members feel this is highly unusual behaviour for CRICKARD not to return home or contact them. He had former work connections in Newburgh just north of Napanee, but Kingston Police have also recently received some information of possible activity relating to CRICKARD in the Newboro and Westport area. Family members also advise he has friends and job relations between Kingston, Cornwall and Ottawa.

CRICKARD is described as: 6’2”, 230 pounds, athletic build, medium complexion, shaved head, brown goatee, and blue eyes. He has numerous tattoos. On his left arm he has a band, a Celtic cross and the word “Raiders.” On the middle of his back is a tribal solar symbol. On his ankle is a “Dropkick Murphys” logo.

FAIL TO ATTEND FOR PRINTS

 

Cornwall, ON – Christopher Allikas, 36 of Cornwall was arrested on September 8th, 2014 and charged with failing to attend for prints. It is alleged that on August 28th, 2014 the man failed to attend police headquarters for his scheduled appointment and an investigation ensued. On September 8th, 2014 he was located at his residence, taken into custody, charged accordingly and held in custody.

 

WARRANT

 

Cornwall, ON – Nathan Paluck, 28 of Ottawa was arrested on September 8th, 2014 on the strength of a warrant. It is alleged that on September 3rd, 2014 the man failed to attend court and a warrant was issued for his arrest. On September 8th, 2014 a member of the Cornwall Community Police Service attended Ottawa to assume custody of the man as he was being held by Ottawa Police Service for an unrelated matter. He was transported to police headquarters and later released to appear in court on October 14th, 2014.

 

 

BREAK AND ENTER

 

Cornwall, ON – The Cornwall Community Police Service is investigating three break and enters that occurred on the 7th and 8th of September, 2014 and are asking that if anyone has information in relation to these crimes or any other crimes to call police.

 

Between September 7th and September 8th, 2014 someone entered a Danis Avenue residence through a window and removed some currency, beer and the homeowner’s wallet.

 

During the same time period someone entered a Laflin Street apartment while the home owner was away and removed a safe containing personal papers and cash.

 

Between the hours of 08:00am and 3pm someone forced a door open at a Gloucester Street address and removed a quantity of rings, bracelets, pendants and a laptop.

The following tips are to help reduce your chances of becoming a victim of a break-in. Break-ins are a crime of opportunity and usually motivated by drugs.

  • Concentrate on doors and windows to help make your home less vulnerable.  All windows and doors should be properly secured.
  • Maintain normal lighting when not at home and use a timer to switch various household lights on and off.
  • Use adequate outside lighting.
  • Do not place keys under outdoor mats.
  • Lock up ladders, garage doors should be closed and locked.
  • Trim bushes to eliminate hiding areas.
  • Do not leave notes, thieves will know you are away.
  • Discontinue mail, newspapers delivery, when leaving for an extended period of time.
  • Advise a trusted neighbor that you are going away and for how long.
  • Arrange for someone to pick up any mail or newspapers left on your door step.
  • Have someone come in and reposition curtains occasionally,
  • Have someone complete the yard maintenance.
  • Report suspicious people in your neighbourhood to police.

 

In general with the help of friends and trusted neighbors try to avoid the appearance that your home is deserted.

THEFTS

(South Glengarry) – Overnight (08-09Sep14) a vehicle was entered while parked at a residence on Paragon Road, South Glengarry Township. Inside, a cell phone and cash were stolen.

(South Glengarry) – On September 8, 2014 SD&G OPP began an investigation into a report of a theft from a vehicle which occurred on September 5, 2014 at a Service Station on Highway 401, South Glengarry Township. Inside, a suitcase, laptop and a breathing apparatus were stolen.

(South Dundas) – Overnight (07-08Sep14), a bicycle was stolen from a shed situated at an apartment complex on Annette Street in the Village of Morrisburg, South Dundas Township. It is described as a men’s Norco Mountain Bike, burgundy/red in color.

Investigations continue in all of the above incidents.
