CORNWALL Ontario – Former President of Team Cornwall Gilles Latour (Latour Wealth Management) made his first appearance at
the courthouse on his Fraud arrest.
CFN has learned that the count so far is over $200,000 in fraud allegations and counting according to the buzz around Cornwall.
Mr. Latour was Cornwall Mayor Bob Kilger’s bag man for the last municipal election.
As well reports have come in of allegations of firms having to issue suit to Mr. Latour over non payment for services; with at least one party stating that they were taking him to court for an amount under $5,000.
When I started following up on his debt he told us he thought it was paid and he’d look into it. Next correspondence he advised that he fired the staff member who was responsible for paying the bills because he found out SHE was stealing from HIM and it was a LOT of money (I had heard of stories like this, how awful!!). He was going to have to take his books to his accountant to get it all sorted out. Next followup … he was shocked it wasn’t paid, fired another staff member for not paying this (at this point I knew something was very wrong, nobody does that … in hindsight he was probably spinning out of control and forgot who he told what to).
He advised us he had to find a new accountant as well … he would pay us once he got it all sorted out. Knowing at this point something was “off”, I passed the file over to my husband expressing my concerns. I wanted him to now followup with Gilles as he is the one who has the relationship with him. After many “no return calls” my husband threatened legal action …
THEN we heard from him. He said he was at the hospital with his mother because she had a breakdown over his brother’s death (I checked it out and the death was real). Also he just found out his wife has cancer AND he’s still trying to sort out what happened with his books … but we’ll get paid!! We sent our sympathies … waited a week and followed up again (seems cold but we no longer trusted him). We advised him that while we sympathized with what he was going through both in his personal and business life, he still needed to take care of business, this was just too far gone with not a single payment. We wanted him to give us his VISA number to get the debt paid while he “sorts things out on his end”.
If it magically turned out we made a mistake and ended up owing him money (but we didn’t) we’d pay him back. Delay, delay, delay, Aug 25 he emailed us that we was going through for a RE-FI and that his cell phone was m.i.a. He just picked up a new phone with an older restore, he’s keep us posted. We asked when the re-financing would be final and when could we expect payment? No reply. On or around September 1st my husband got a phone call from the police saying that they had arrested someone and found my husband’s phone number on his cell phone.
Police are still accepting information and Mr. Latour’s next court date is October 28th in Cornwall.
None of the allegations have been proven as fact as of yet. Mr. Latour has refused comment to CFN.

October 28 which will be the day after elections – some timing folks. LOL LOL. Maybe he is hoping for Bare Ass’s return to bail him out at the city’s expense. Get ready folks that if you ever put Bare Ass in the hot seat again you will not just have a hot seat but everything that you own will be burned up to a crisp. Whatever happens this time there is no turning back. This is getting mighty interesting that it isn’t just $5K but in the 100’sK and he sure would go to jail for that. Move over Willie you may have company.

One wonders how the campaign expenses were handled for Bobby by his “good friend” (a lot of advertisers, printers, etc.).
For instance paying advertisers/suppliers “x” number of dollars, then reporting “y” number of dollars, but later grabbing “x+y” dollars out of the kitty as reimbursement (a liberal sum perhaps, but where do you get by being conservative?).
And who would know? …not the candidate. Because candidates purposely don’t want to know — in order to have maximum deniability.
Wonder if Bobby is thinking likewise… and ouch, it’d be tough to take it to court — the crown is just as crooked, just not as stupid.

It’s amazing that people in cliques still think that in these times they can get away with bilking people of their investment money and not get caught. Hopefully there are no shenanigans and Gilles gets what he deserves.
If I were ever accused of wrongdoing and knew that I was innocent I would be yelling, kicking, screaming let everyone in town and the press everywhere know that I was innocent. Why hide? unless you really do have something to hide? Just asking.
Poor Gilles is becoming an unperson… all mention of him has now been scrubbed from the Max Keeping Foundation web site.
Will Team Cornwall be scrubbing this “Citizen of the Year” from their web site shortly?

Actually SIMON I just checked the website and Gilles is still very much a part of it (pictorially speaking)and he is innocent unless proven guilty. We all enjoy that right.
David Oldham….innocent until proven guilty? Perhaps in a perfect world. But we don’t live in a perfect world. Most times it’s guilty until you prove your innocence.
Yes Dave, everyone is entitled to their day in court,… but with respect to the MKF site, he’s not much there at all (let’s say 99.9% less), and he’s certainly not shown on the Board of Directors anymore …photo and blurb are gone, gone, gone.
So maybe your reminder about “innocent until” would best be sent to the Max Keeping Foundation.
In the meantime a little empathy for the victims, regardless of whom they fell victim …“Justice will not be served until those who are unaffected are as outraged as those who are.”

Holy Jumpin’ Gilles Latour! David and I finally agree about something! Countless people have had their lives ruined just for being charged with a crime. Without or before a trial, the court of public opinion comes down with a conviction in a lot of cases. The presumption of innocence only applies in our legal/justice system. Not with the public.

The court of public opinion is, a lot of times, more damning than the legal system.
I can testify to that. I know right now because of my false charges I can’t answer to rumors being spread by the very person that laid the false complaint. It can be very very frustrating and damaging to people and a community. Eventually all will be told but the damage can never be repaired.
The other thing to consider is that even if it goes to trial and you are found not guilty, or if the charges are withdrawn before it goes to trial, the arrest and charge remains on your police record forever.
I don’t think you need worry about damage at all Jamie …anyone that knows you at all, finds the allegations ridiculous. And whether the complainant is complicit or simply been duped, I think it’s safe to discount his opinion on this and frankly on any matter. A blowhard, is a blowhard, is a blowhard.

Jamie, any idea what happened at Gilles Latour`s last court date? I know the MFDA has made an interim Order prohibiting the him from engaging in any securities related activities.
