Cornwall PoliceIMPAIRED OPERATION, OVER 80

 

Cody MacDonald, 20 of Cornwall was arrested on October 25th, 2014 and charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and over 80. It is alleged that in the early morning hours of October 25th, 2014 the man was found to be operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol in the area of Easton Avenue and St-Felix Street. He was taken into custody during a traffic stop, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on October 30th, 2014.

 

ASSAULT

 

Cornwall, ON – A 48-year-old Lunenburg man was arrested on October 25th, 2014 and charged with three counts of assault. It is alleged that while in Cornwall on three separate occasions his 51-year-old common-law wife was assaulted by way of being pushed and grabbed and in one occasion a coffee was thrown in her face. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On October 25th, 2014 the man attended police headquarters to deal with the matter. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it might identify the victim in the matter.

 

Cornwall, ON – A21-year-old Akwesasne woman was arrested on October 25th, 2014 and charged with assault. It is alleged that during an argument on October 25th, 2014 with her 29-Year-old boyfriend the woman kicked him in the face. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During their investigation the woman was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. Her name was not released as it might identify the victim in the matter.

 

POSSESSION STOLEN PROPERTY

 

Cornwall, ON – Evan Jarvis of Cornwall was arrested on October 25th, 2014 and charged with possession of stolen property. It is alleged that on July 19th, 2014 police learned that the man may be in possession of stolen e-bikes and video games. As a result an investigation ensued and a warrant was issued for his arrest. On October 25th, 2014 police attended a Lefebvre Street address for an unrelated matter and located the man. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on December 2nd, 2014.

 

BREACH

 

Cornwall, ON – Jamie Marsolais, 25 of Cornwall was arrested on October 26th, 2014 and charged with breaching his probation order and recognizance for having consumed alcohol. It is alleged that in the early morning hours of October 26th, 2014 the man was spotted in the area local bar and further investigation revealed he was breaching his conditions. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

THEFT UNDER $5000

 

Cornwall, ON – A 17-year-old Cornwall youth was arrested on October 26th, 2014 and charged with theft under $5000. It is alleged that on October 6th, 2014 the youth entered a Cornwall Square store, selected a pair of sunglasses and exited the store making no attempts to pay for the item. The youth was stopped by the Loss Prevention Officer and police were contacted. On October 26th, 2014 the youth attended police headquarters to deal with the matter. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court at a later date. His name was not released as per provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

 

PUBLIC MISCHIEF

 

Cornwall, ON – A 16-year-old Cornwall youth was arrested on October 26th, 2014 and charged with public mischief. It is alleged that on October 15th, 2014 the youth made false allegations to police about a breach that someone else committed. Police investigated the matter and on October 26th, 2014 during their investigation police spotted the youth walking in the area of St. Michel Street. She was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court at a later date. Her name was not released as per provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

 

BREACH

 

Cornwall, ON – Tania Dragonjac, 31 of Cornwall was arrested on October 27th, 2014 and charged with breaching her probation order for having consumed alcohol and for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged that on October 27th, 2014 police were contacted to attend a Second Street address in relation to a disturbance. Once on scene police took the woman who had been drinking into custody, charged her accordingly and released her to attend court on November 27th, 2014.

 

Cornwall, ON – Tate Jocko, 24 of Akwesasne was arrested on October 27th, 2014 and charged with breaching his recognizance for being out past curfew. It is alleged that in the early morning hours of October 27th, 2014 the man was spotted at a local bank. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

IMPAIRED, OVER 80, BREACHES

 

Cornwall, ON – Lianne Killen, 24 of Brockville and Aaron Taylor, 26 of Long Sault were arrested and charged on October 24th, 2014. It is alleged that during a traffic stop in the early morning hours of October 24th, 2014 in area of Ninth Street and Cumberland Street, Taylor was found to be operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. He was taken into custody and charged accordingly. The passenger of the vehicle was found to be breaching her undertaking for having consumed alcohol and found to be in possession of cocaine. She was taken into custody and charged accordingly. Both were held in custody.

ASSAULT

 

Cornwall, ON – A 28-year-old Cornwall woman was arrested on October 22nd, 2014 and charged with assault. It is alleged that on October 21st, 2014 during an argument with her 45-year-old ex-boyfriend the woman pushed then punched him in the neck. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On October 22nd, 2014 the woman attended police headquarters to deal with the matter. She was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on November 25th, 2014. Her name was not released as it might identify the victim in the matter.

 

ASSAULT, MISCHIEF

 

Cornwall, ON- A 23-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on October 22nd, 2014 and charged with assault and mischief. It is alleged that during an argument on October 22nd, 2014 with his 23-year-old girlfriend the man punched several holes in the wall of the apartment and also kicked his girlfriend in the arm. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During their investigation the man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it might identify the victim in the matter.

 

PERSONATION, BREACH, DRIVE DISQUALIFIED

 

Cornwall, ON – A 34-year-old Long Sault man was arrested on October 23rd, 2014 and charged with personation, drive disqualified and breach of probation for being in the company of someone that he has conditions not to communicate with, for having consumed alcohol and failing to keep the peace. It is alleged that during a traffic stop in the early morning hours of October 23rd, 2014 the man who had consumed alcohol falsely identified himself to police and was found to be in the company of a person that he was on conditions not to associate with. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as the conditions stem from a domestic incident and might identify the victim.

ASSAULT, BREACH

 

Cornwall, ON – An 18-year-old Cornwall woman was arrested on October 21st, 2014 and charged with assault and breach of youth probation for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged that on October 21st, 2014 during an argument with her 18-year-old boyfriend the woman punched him in the face. Police were notified and an investigation ensued. During their investigation the woman was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. Her name was not released as it might identify the victim in the matter.

 

WARRANT

 

Cornwall, ON – A 39-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on October 21st, 2014 on the strength of warrants. It is alleged that the man failed to attend court for a domestic matter and was in breach of court orders for failing to notify a change of address. On October 21st, 2014 members of the Cornwall Community Police Service attended British Columbia and assumed custody of the man who was being held by RCMP on Cornwall’s warrants. He was transported to Cornwall and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as the incidents stem from a domestic matter and might identify the victim.

SD&G OPP

CHARGES LAID IN BREAK-IN

(North Dundas) – On October 15, 2014 SD&G OPP began an investigation into a report of a commercial break-in at a property on St-Lawrence Street in the Village of Winchester, North Dundas Township. Investigation indicated that at approximately 3:00am, suspects forcibly entered the building and removed five (5) automotive batteries. Further investigation led to the identity of the suspects.

On October 18, 2014, John VANBRIDGER (41) of North Dundas Township was arrested. On October 19, 2014, Derek PAPPIN (50) of North Dundas Township was arrested. Both males are charged with;

– Break Enter and Theft

Both were released and scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Morrisburg on December 2, 2014.

 

DOMESTIC INVESTIGATION
(South Glengarry) – On October 26, 2014 SD&G OPP began an investigation into a report of a domestic incident which was initiated on October 25, 2014 at a residence on Kirk Street in the Village of Martintown, South Glengarry Township. Investigation indicated that an altercation between an 18-year-old male and his girlfriend resulted in the female being assaulted and threatened. The victim’s cellphone was also taken by the accused.

The male (from Gatineau, Quebec) was arrested by Gatineau Police and turned over to SD&G OPP officers on October 27, 2014. He is charged with;

– Assault (2 counts)
– Assault with a Weapon (knife-no injuries)
– Utter Threats
– Theft Under $5000

He was held in custody pending an appearance (bail) at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall today (October 27, 2014).
BREAK-INS
(South Stormont) – On October 24, 2014 at approximately 12:53pm, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of a break-in at a residence on Dickinson Drive in the Village of Ingleside, South Stormont Township. Investigation indicated that in the previous hour, the home was entered and a quantity of electronics (computers and devices), jewellery and cash were stolen.
(North Dundas) – On October 25, 2014 at approximately 1:21pm, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of a break-in at a residence on Victoria Street in the Village of Winchester, North Dundas Township. Investigation indicated that between 10:00am and time reported, the home was entered and a quantity of medication and a digital camera were stolen.

Investigations continue on the above incidents.

 

EXCESSIVE SPEEDS
(SD&G) – Over the past weekend, SD&G OPP officers conducting speed measuring enforcement intercepted the following vehicles for traveling at excessive speeds. In all stops, the vehicle was impounded and the driver’s permit seized for seven (7) days in accordance to policy.

– October 24, 2014 – 5:23pm; vehicle stopped on Highway 401, South Glengarry Township, speeding 157km/h (100km/h zone). Male driver (44) from Toronto, Ontario, charged accordingly.

– October 26, 2014 – 12:18pm; vehicle stopped on Highway 401, South Stormont Township, speeding 165km/h (100km/h zone). Male driver (31) from Thornhill, Ontario, charged accordingly.

THEFT OF SEMI-TRAILERS
(North Glengarry) – On October 23, 2014 SD&G OPP began an investigation into a report of stolen semi-trailers from a property on County Road 34 in the Town of Alexandria, North Glengarry Township.

Investigation indicates that between 20-21October, 2014, two (2) large 53’ semi-trailers were taken while parked in a lot. They are described as both 2005 models, white, makes: Train and Waba.

An investigation continues.

MISCHIEFS-THREATS-ASSAULT

(South Glengarry) – On October 21, 2014 at approximately 2:57am, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of a possible break-in at a residence on County Road 18, South Glengarry Township. Investigation indicated that an adult male had forcibly entered the residence of his ex-spouse. Further information revealed historical mischiefs to the home and previous incidents of threats and an assault of female by the accused.

The 53 year old male (from south Glengarry Township) was arrested and is charged with;

– Mischief to Property Under $5000 (2 counts)
– Utter Threats (2 counts)
– Assault-Spousal

He was held in custody pending an appearance (bail) at the Ontario Court of Justice today (October 22, 2014) in Cornwall.

HALLOWEEN SAFETY
(SD&G) – With Halloween fast approaching, SD&G OPP wish to remind parents and motorists to focus on the safety of children partaking in tis anticipated evening. Officers will be out in full force ensuring the safety of “Trick or Treaters” and residents of our communities.

Mischief – as defined in the Criminal Code of Canada not only applies to damaging or destroying of property, but also interfering with the lawful use and enjoyment of property. While some people feel that Halloween is an evening for “pranks”, many of these “pranks” do qualify as mischief and can result in the responsible person(s) facing criminal offences. This can result in court appearances and if convicted – a criminal record.

Motorists 


 Watch for children darting out from between parked cars.
 Watch for children walking on roadways, medians and curbs.
 Enter and exit driveways and alleys carefully.
 At twilight and later in the evening, watch for children in dark clothing.
Parents 

 Make sure that an adult or an older responsible youth will be supervising the outing for children under age 12.
 Plan and discuss the route trick-or-treaters intend to follow. Know the names of older children’s companions.
 Instruct your children to travel only in familiar areas and along an established route.
 Teach your children to stop only at houses or apartment buildings that are well-lit and never to enter a stranger’s home.
 Establish a return time.
 Tell your youngsters not to eat any treat until they return home.
 Review all appropriate trick-or-treat safety precautions, including pedestrian/traffic safety rules.
 Pin a slip of paper with the child’s name; address and phone number inside a pocket in case the youngster gets separated from the group.
Costume Design

 Only fire-retardant materials should be used for costumes.
 Costumes should be loose so warm clothes can be worn underneath.
 Costumes should not be so long that they are a tripping hazard. (Falls are the leading cause of unintentional injuries on Halloween.)
 If children are allowed out after dark, outfits should be made with light colored materials. Strips of retro reflective tape should be used to make children visible.
Face Design

 Masks can obstruct a child’s vision. Use facial make-up instead.
 If masks are worn, they should have nose and mouth openings and large eye holes.
Accessories

 Knives, swords and other accessories should be made from cardboard or flexible materials. Do not allow children to carry sharp objects.
 Bags or sacks carried by youngsters should be light-coloured or trimmed with retro-reflective tape if children are allowed out after dark
 Carrying flashlights will help children see better and be seen more clearly.

Children 


 Do not enter homes or apartments without adult supervision.
 Walk; do not run, from house to house. Do not cross yards and lawns where unseen objects or the uneven terrain can present tripping hazards.
 Walk on sidewalks, not in the street.
 Walk on the left side of the road, facing traffic if there are no sidewalks.
Treats 

 Insist that treats be brought home for inspection before anything is eaten.
 When in doubt, throw it out.

Traffic Stop on Bank Street Saturday

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Monday, October 27, 2014    9:30am 

 (Ottawa)— At approximately 3:29pm on Saturday, October 25th Ottawa Police Service (OPS) members conducted a traffic stop on Bank St. near Heron Rd.  During the stop, the individual who had been pulled over became combative and assaulted one of the officers as attempts were made to subdue him.

During those attempts a member of the OPP who was in the area and observed the altercation came to assist OPS members. That officer discharged their firearm once. No one was injured. A CEW was then deployed and the individual was arrested.

Luqman ABDUNNUR, 39 years old, faces 4 charges including; Assault Police, Obstruct Peace Officer, Resist Peace Officer and Drive under suspension

The matter remains under investigation by OPS.

Seeking Assistance in Locating Missing 17 year old Female

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Monday, October 27th 2014    2:15am

 (Ottawa)— The Ottawa Police Service is seeking the public’s assistance in locating a missing 17 year old girl.  Miriam Coodin was last seen in the area of Carling Ave. and Island Park Dr.

Coodin is described as a white female, 5’3” 200 lbs. long blond hair, navy blue zip-up hoodie, black yoga pants and red shoes.

Single vehicle collision on Merivale Road under investigation

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Friday, October 24, 2014     4:35pm

(Ottawa)— On Friday, October 24 at approx 2:40am, a single motor vehicle collision occurred on Merivale Road.  The driver, heading southbound, lost control and collided with a cement pillar posts under the railroad overpass south of Colonnade Road.

The driver suffered life threatening injuries and the passenger sustained minor injuries.  The driver remains in critical condition.

It was determined that both alcohol and speed are factors in this incident.

Investigators from the Collision Unit are looking for witnesses to the collision as well as any information people may have about what happened prior to the collision. The vehicle is a gray 4-door 2005 Nissan Altima.
