Cornwall River Kings Accountant Quits Team Over New Owner Ethics by Jamie Gilcig – NOV 23, 2014

annie laperle fbCORNWALL Ontario –  More bad news for River Kings fans as the team’s accountant resigned.

My code of ethics that I took when getting my accounting degree does not allow me to continue comfortably with the new owner.

We have sent a message to Ms Laperle asking for a further quote and update if she responds.  River Kings fans have been venting online since news broke of Mr. Frost  abandoning selling a majority interest in the  team to new owner Darren Madden.

If you have a tip on the River King scandal email us at info@cornwallfreenews.com   CFN protects sources and never burns them unlike Hugo Rodrigues over at the Freeholder.

Madden has not responded to calls for comment as of yet and his last post online was on NOV 16, 2014

  1. Really not sure what all the fuss Is about.
Anyone that is an investor operates on the basis of buying low and selling higher.Mr Frost is in business to make money, saved the team, and now has sold an interest in in in .The new majority owner must have some sort of financial backing to proceed with this sale.
As long as fans go to games, and the on ice show is good and enjoyable, it really wont matter who owns it or not. The fans are the most important factor. I give Kudo’s to Mr Frost for saving the team, and wish the new owner good luck in keeping it going.

  2. “Something is rotten in Denmark” when the accountant of the River Kings is resigning over ethics. Cornwall has so many skeletons to uncover.

Congrats Jules. That was your 1000th approved comment. Of course there have been more than 1,000 not approved 🙂

  4. Jim Luciani…..Yes, he did “save” the team. But it is blatantly obvious why Brock Frost bought the River Kings, to further his political career. How else does he justify the timing of purchasing AND selling the team.

  5. When your accountact resigns with a note like that, IMHO, it indicates there are problems that will surface shortly.

Will the LNAH approve the sale. I guess we’ll see in a week or so.

  6. Jamie I have surpassed the mark. I thought that I would have over a million posts by now and having you curse with your head in your hands saying: “not again why me Lord what did I do so wrong to deserve Jules on my back” LOL LOL. Love you Jamie.

Hugger you and I have been having similar brain waves about this thing and I have something else but won’t say what. When an accountant refuses to be the accountant of the buyer then something is mighty wrong. Something that goes against the professional ethics of the accountant. Lots of monkey business behind the scene.

  7. One thing is certain and that is if there is anything illegal in all of this sale then this can cost Frosty his position as a counsellor. Frosty better come good or else he is gone. Cornwall is litered with so much scandal.

  9. I will have to agree with Jim Luciani on this one folks. But i also think he bought the riverkings to help him get elected.

  10. Of course Frosty purchased the team to help get elected. Frosty is a business man and he is intelligent and educated like I said but we don’t know him yet. We don’t know him until he proves just who he really is. It is great that he is frugal and that is the way I live. I hope that he practices his frugality helping to run Cornwall.

  11. I said from the beginning Brock Frost bought the team to further his political ambitions. Yes he is entitled to sell at a profit, but I highly doubt that was the case here. His ownership was more of the story than the actual product on the ice. The purchase of the team served its purpose for Brock, so time to move on to his next stunt.
