Ottawa Senator Jared Cowen Records Gordie Howe Hat Trick in Sens 5-3 Loss to Stanley Cup Champ LA Kings – DEC 12, 2014

Jared_Cowen_-_Ottawa_SenatorsCFN – Ottawa Senator D man Jared Cowen recorded a very rare Gordie Howe hat trick Thursday night in the team’s 5-3 to Los Angeles.

With coach Paul MacLean sacked the put on quite a performance, but the Stanley Cup Champs finished them off.

Cowen took on Dwight King early in the second period.

Jared won the fight.   The Saskatchewan native plays at 235 and is 6’5, not a light weight.  He was a 9th over all pick for the Sens in 2009 but hasn’t played up to his potential since injuring his hip.

The Sens out hit and took more shot attempts than the Kings, but LA won the face off battles and put more pucks behind goalie Craig Anderson.

Erik Karlsson and Mika Zibenajad took 16 shots on goal between them with zero point.

Mark Borowiecki led the team with 9 hits.
