FRAUD, BREACHES

 

Cornwall, ON – Steven Coleman, 31 of Cornwall was arrested on December 19th, 2014 and charged with fraud under $5000 and breach of undertaking and probation for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged that on December 19th, 2014 the man attended a department store on Brookdale Avenue and returned merchandise that he had just took from the shelves and had not paid for. He was stopped by the Loss Prevention Officer and police were contacted. The man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on January 8th, 2015.

 

MISCHIEF

 

Cornwall, ON – A 58-year-old Cornwall woman was arrested on December 19th, 2014 and charged with mischief. It is alleged that during an argument on December 19th, 2014 with her 69-year-old husband the woman damaged some property belonging to him and police were contacted to investigate. During their investigation the woman was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. Her name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.

 

Cornwall, ON – Roch Pariseau, 20 of Cornwall was arrested on December 20th, 2014 and charged with mischief. It is alleged that on December 20th, 2014 while at the hospital the man damaged a Purell dispenser and police were contacted to investigate. During their investigation the man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court at a later date.

 

ASSAULT, MISCHIEF

 

Cornwall, On – A 31-year-old Cornwall woman was arrested on December 20th, 2014 and charged with assault and breach of probation for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged that during an argument on December 20th, 2014 with her 23-year-old boyfriend the woman punched him in the face. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During their investigation the woman was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on January 20th, 2015. Her name was not released as it might identify the victim in the matter.

 

IMPAIRED, OVER 80

 

Cornwall, On – David Williams, 50 of Long Sault was arrested on December 20th, 2014 and charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and over 80. It is alleged that on December 20th, 2014 the man was found to be operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol in the area of Adolphus Street and First Street. He was taken into custody during a traffic stop, charged accordingly and released to appear in court at a later date.

IMPAIRED, FLIGHT FROM POLICE, ASSAULT POLICE, DANGEROUS DRIVING

 

Cornwall, ON – Travis Cole, 20 of Hogansburg NY was arrested on December 21st, 2014 and charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle, over 80, flight from police, dangerous driving, assault police and fail to stop at the scene of an accident. It is alleged that in the early morning hours of December 21st, 2014 the man was found to be operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol in the area of the International Bridge. During a traffic stop the man fled from police, striking the officer’s arm with the vehicle’s door pillar then damaging the toll booth gate as he fled south bound. The man was taken into custody by Akwesasne Mohawk Police on Cornwall’s charges and returned to Cornwall. He was charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

 

ASSAULT

 

Cornwall, ON – A 24-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on December 21st, 2014 and charged with assault. It is alleged that on December 21st, 2014 during an argument with his 18-year-old girlfriend the man struck her in the face multiple times. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During their investigation the man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it might identify the victim in the matter.

 

Cornwall, ON – A 38-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on December 21st, 2014 and charged with assault. It is alleged that on December 21st, 2014 during an argument with his 28-year-old wife the man pushed her to the ground. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During their investigation the man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it might identify the victim in the matter.

 

WARRANT

 

Cornwall, ON – James Labelle, 27 of Cornwall was arrested on December 21st, 2014 on the strength of a warrant. It is alleged that on November 21st, 2014 the man was responsible for removing coats from a local business making no attempts to pay for them as he left the store. Police were contacted and a warrant was issued for his arrest. On December 21st, 2014 the man was located by police and taken into custody on the strength of the warrant. He was taken to police headquarters and held for a bail hearing.

Ottawa Police Service

Drug Unit seize significant quantities of cocaine, marihuana and hashish

 

(Ottawa) – On Wednesday December 17th, 2014, the Ottawa Police Service Drug Unit with the assistance of the Tactical Team executed 4 Controlled Drugs and Substances Act warrants at residences in the 400 block of Leitrim Rd, the 100 block of Castlegreen Priv, the 0-100 block of Haxby Priv, and the 1100 block of Meadowlands Dr.

The warrant executions were the culmination of an investigation that began in mid November, 2014.  In the early stages of the investigation investigators identified and disrupted a drug trafficking network that was smuggling marihuana through the mail to communities in the Canadian North, where the street value of the drug increases exponentially compared to the Ottawa market.  With assistance from Canada Post, drug investigators seized 668.55 grams of marihuana (valued at $6,685.50 in Ottawa) concealed within 12 cans of coffee that were being mailed to Nunavut.

Included in the items seized as a result of the drug warrant execution on December 17th were:

  • 13, 751.22 grams (30.25 lbs) of Marihuana valued at $137, 512.00
  • 8, 471.8 grams of Cannabis Resin (hash) valued at $169, 436.00
  • 989.75 grams of powder cocaine valued at $98, 975.00
  • 1, 137.05 grams of an unknown powder that was sent for analysis
  • $3, 466.00 in Canadian currency

As a result of the investigation, Elia AWAD, 55 year old of Ottawa is charged with:

  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking a Schedule I Substance (cocaine) under Sec 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking a Schedule II Substance (marihuana) under Sec 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
  • Trafficking in a Schedule II Substance (marihuana) under Sec 5(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
  • Possession of Proceeds of Crime under $5000.00 under Sec 355(b) of the Criminal Code

George ABOU-EID, 46 year old of Ottawa is charged with:

  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking a Schedule I Substance (cocaine) under Sec 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance (cocaine) under Sec 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
  • Possession of Proceeds of Crime under $5000.00 under Sec 355(b) of the Criminal Code

George AWAD, 60 year old of Ottawa is charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance (cocaine) under Sec 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
  • Possession of a Schedule II Substance (marihuana) under Sec 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act

Steven RAY, 24 year old of Ottawa is charged with:

  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking a Schedule II Substance (marihuana) under Sec 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act

Andrea GOLUCH, 37 year old of Ottawa is charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule II Substance (marihuana) under Sec 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act

Sarah GUY, 19 year old of Ottawa is charged with;

  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking a Schedule II Substance (marihuana) under Sec 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking a Schedule II Substance (cannabis resin) under Sec 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
  • Possession of Proceeds of Crime under $5000.00 under Sec 355(b) of the Criminal Code

Julie ROBINSON, 26 year old of Ottawa is charged with:

  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking a Schedule II Substance (marihuana) under Sec 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking a Schedule II Substance (cannabis resin) under Sec 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
  • Possession of Proceeds of Crime under $5000.00 under Sec 355(b) of the Criminal Code

Eli Joseph AWAD, 22 year old of Ottawa is charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance (cocaine) under Sec 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
  • Possession of a Schedule II Substance (cannabis resin) under Sec 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act

Christopher CAMPBELL, 39 year old of Ottawa is outstanding and will be charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance (cocaine) under Sec 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act

Adla AWAD, 84 year old of Ottawa is outstanding and will be charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance (cocaine) under Sec 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
  • Possession of a Schedule II Substance (cannabis resin) under Sec 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act

Steven RAY was held in custody at his Show Cause hearing and given a court date of December 19th, 2014.

Elia AWAD and George ABOU-EID were held in custody at their Show Cause hearings and given court dates on December 23rd, 2014.

George AWAD, Eli Joseph AWAD, Andrea GOLUCH, Sarah GUY, and Julie ROBINSON were released on Promises to Appear with court dates on the14th of January, 2015.
