Cornwall, ON – Carl Beckstead, 63 of Cornwall was arrested on February 20th, 2015 on the strength of a warrant. It is alleged that the man was in breach of his conditional sentence and a warrant was issued for his arrest. On February 20th, 2015 the man attended police headquarters to deal with the matter. He was taken into custody on the strength of the warrant and held for a bail hearing.

 

BREACH

 

Cornwall, ON – Steven Chrisjohn, 54 of Akwesasne was arrested on February 20th, 2015 and charged with breaching a recognizance for operating a motor vehicle and failing to keep the peace. It is alleged that on February 20th, 2015 the man was found to be operating a motor vehicle despite being on conditions not to have care or control of a motor vehicle. He was detained at the port of entry and taken into custody by a member of the Cornwall Community Police Service. He was charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

 

THEFT UNDER, BREACH

 

Cornwall, ON – Robert Brannen, 32 of Cornwall was arrested on February 21st, 2015 and charged with theft under $5000 and breach of probation and recognizance for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged that on February 21st, 2015 the man attended a Second Street East store and removed two bottles of liquor making no attempt to pay for the items as he left the store. Police were contacted and located the man a short distance away. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

 

Cornwall, ON – Amanda Stevens, 30 of Cornwall was arrested on February 21st, 2015 and charged with theft under $5000 and breach of probation for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged that on January 16th, 2015 the woman entered a Pitt Street store and removed some clothing making no attempt to pay for the items as she left the store. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On February 21st, 2015 the woman attended police headquarters to deal with the matter. She was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on March 24th, 2015.

 

POSSESSION OF DRUGS, POSSESSION FOR THE PURPOSE OF TRAFFICKING

 

Cornwall, ON – Russell Robinson, 51 of Maxville was arrested on February 21st, 2015 and charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession for the purpose of trafficking. It is alleged that on February 20th, 2015 the man attended Cornwall to have a package shipped to P.E.I. and when the package was found to be marijuana police were contacted to investigate. On February 21st, 2015 the man attended police headquarters to deal with the matter. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on March 24th, 2015.

 

THEFT UNDER $5000, ASSAULT WITH A WEAPON

 

Cornwall, ON – Warren Allen, 41 of Cornwall was arrested on February 21st, 2015 and charged with theft under $5000 and assault with a weapon. It is alleged that on January 22nd, 2015 the man attended a store at the Cornwall Square and removed a cook set making no attempt to pay for the item as he left the store. The Loss Prevention Officer attempted to intervene and the cook set was thrown at him. Police were then contacted and an investigation ensued. On February 21st, 2015 while responding to an unrelated call the man was spotted at a Ninth Street store, taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on March 24th, 2015.

 

 

IMPAIRED OPERATION, REFUSAL

 

Cornwall, ON – Michael Bedard, 33 of Cornwall was arrested on February 22nd, 2015 and charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and refusal. It is alleged that in the early morning hours of February 22nd, 2015 the man was found to be operating a motor vehicle in the area of Second Street and Brookdale Avenue while under the influence of alcohol. He was taken into custody during a traffic stop and failed to provide a suitable sample of his breath to police. He was charged accordingly and later released to appear in court on March 24th, 2015.

OPP

(RUSSELL COUNTY, ON) In the week of February 16, 2015 to February 23, 2015, Russell County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to 225 occurrences. Among those occurrences OPP responded to 39 collisions, 5 thefts, 6 domestics and no impaired drivers.

As a result of those occurrences, 37 people were charged with various offences.

Domestic

(Embrun, ON)  On February 19, 2015 OPP Constables responded to a domestic related incident on Belfort Street in Embrun. At that location a female reported that her ex-partner was posting inappropriate material about her on social Medias. The officers investigated the complaint and concluded that some criminal offences had been committed.

A 60 year old male, from Embrun will have to appear in L’Orignal court on March 11, 2015 to answer to the following charges:

CC 445(1) (a) Killing, Injuring or Endangering Animals other than cattle

CC 264(1) Criminal Harassment – repeatedly follow, repeatedly communicate with, watch and beset, threatening conduct

Liquor Violation

(Casselman, ON) On February 21, 2015 OPP Constable Pierre-Etienne Campeau was on patrol on Route 500 West in Casselman when he stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation. When the officer approached the vehicle to speak to driver he noticed some open containers of liquor in the vehicle. The investigation revealed that the driver allowed open alcohol in his vehicle.

Jason BLONDIN, 18 years old, from Embrun was issued a provincial offence notice for the following infraction:

LLA 32(1) Driving motor vehicle with unsealed container of liquor

Break and Enter

(Limoges, ON)   On February 21, 2015 OPP Constable Sylvain Lacroix responded to a complaint of a break and enter at the Kittawa Campground in Limoges. At that location it was reported that at least 15 trailers had been broken into. Some items were stolen and some properties were damaged.  The incidents would have taken place on different dates.

Theft

(Rockland, ON)  On February 21, 2015, OPP Constable Stephane Lapierre responded to a theft on Albert Street in Rockland. At that location it was reported that a miniature Bombardier Mini Z ,2001 snowmobile was stolen. The black and yellow snowmobile was taken from the house property.

Theft

(Casselman, ON)   On February 18, 2015 OPP Constable Pierre-Etienne Campeau responded to a theft at the Giant Tiger in Casselman. At that location it was reported that a dock steel plate had been stolen overnight. The plate was used to load merchandise delivered to the store.

Break and Enter

(Limoges, ON)  On February 17, 2015, OPP Constable Mike Cunning responded to a break and enter at a residence on Limoges Road in Limoges. At that location it was reported that during their absence of a week they returned home to a house that had been ransacked. Unknown suspect(s) forced their way into the house and once inside looked everywhere and left with money and jewellery.

SD&G OPP vs TERRE DES JEUNES SCHOOL!

(North Glengarry) – On February 20, 2015 Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers, in partnership with students, staff and parents from Terre des Jeunes School in Alexandria, North Glengarry Township faced-off in a fun hockey match as part of Carnival week activities.

Taking part in the SD&G OPP team was Detachment Commander – Inspector Brendan MacDonald. He stated that “this is a great opportunity for police officers to network with our youth and demonstrate the human side of the uniform”. He added that “it is imperative that we keep the lines of communication open and lead them in a positive direction as future leaders”.

On this day, everyone was a winner!

DOMESTIC INVESTIGATIONS
(South Stormont) – On February 4, 2015 Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) began an investigation into a domestic situation at a residence on Elm Street, South Stormont Township. Investigation indicated that an adult male had repeatedly communicated with his ex-spouse.

On February 20, 2015 the 52-year-old male (from Ottawa, Ontario) was arrested and is charged with;

– Criminal Harassment – Repeatedly Communicate

He was held in custody pending an appearance (bail) at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall.

(North Dundas) – On February 19, 2015 SD&G OPP officers began an investigation into a report of a domestic situation at a residence on College Street, North Dundas Township. Investigation indicated that an adult male was in contravention of conditions imposed from a previous incident including not to communicate with his ex-spouse. Further information also revealed that on February 13, 2015 the accused had entered his ex-spouse’s residence uninvited.

On February 21, 2015 the male (from North Dundas Township) was arrested and is charged with;

– Break, Enter
– Fail to Comply with Conditions of an Undertaking (4 counts)

He was held in custody pending an appearance (bail) at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall.
