Bacon Busted in Cornwall Ontario – Police Blotter for MARCH 6, 2015 #CCPS #OPP

Cornwall, ON – Christopher Berry, 32 of Cornwall was arrested on March 5th, 2015 and charged with theft under $5000, threats and breach of undertaking and probation for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged that on March 2nd, 2015 the man attended a Second Street East store and removed packages of bacon making no attempt to pay for the items as he left the store. The man then threatened the Loss Prevention Officer and fled the scene. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On March 5th, 2015 the man attended police headquarters to deal with the matter. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

 

THEFT UNDER $5000

 

Cornwall, ON – Jeffrey Inniger, 43 of Martintown was arrested on March 5th, 2015 and charged with theft under $5000. It is alleged that on March 2nd, 2015 the man attended a Ninth Street store and attempted to remove a television from the store making no attempt to pay for it. The man was stopped by a staff member and fled the scene. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On March 5th, 2015 the man was taken into custody at police headquarters when he attended for an unrelated matter. He was charged accordingly and released to appear in court on April 2nd, 2015.

 

THEFT UNDER, BREACH

 

Cornwall, ON – Justin Rainey, 26 of Cornwall was arrested on March 5th, 2015 and charged with theft under $5000 and breach of probation for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged that on February 10th, 2015 the man attended a Second Street East store and removed two bottles of alcohol making no attempt to pay for the items as he left the store. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On March 5th, 2015 the man was spotted walking in the area of Walton Street and Alice Street by a member of the Cornwall Community Police Service. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on April 2nd, 2015.

 

WARRANT

 

Cornwall, ON – Natasha Lalonde, 30 of Cornwall was arrested on March 5th, 2015 on the strength of a warrant. It is alleged that the woman failed to attend court and a warrant was issued for her arrest. On March 5th, 2015 the woman was located at her residence, taken into custody on the strength of the warrant and held for a bail hearing.

 

BREACH

 

Cornwall, ON – Mickey Delormier of Akwesasne was arrested on March 5th, 2015 and charged with breaching his recognizance for being in control of a motor vehicle and failing to keep the peace. It is alleged that on March 5th, 2015 the man was driving a motor vehicle when he was stopped at the port of entry and police were contacted. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on April 2nd, 2015.

 

IMPAIRED OPERATION, OVER 80

 

Cornwall, ON – Curtis Pensom, 27 of Avonmore was arrested on March 6th, 2015 and charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and over 80. It is alleged that in the early morning hours of March 6th, 2015 the man was found to be driving a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol in the area of Sydney Street at Eighth Street. He was taken into custody during a traffic stop, charged accordingly and released to appear in court at a later date.

OPP NOT SOLICITING FUNDS FOR ITS
COMMUNITY BEAR PROGRAM

(ORILLIA, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is very proud to have a number of key partnerships in place throughout the Province of Ontario that benefit the communities policed by the OPP.

Recently, the Norfolk County OPP Detachment received a number of inquiries from residents asking about police related organizations calling to solicit funds for teddy bears.
While many OPP officers are involved in worthy charities on their personal time, the OPP is advising the public that it does not solicit funds from members of the public for its Community Bear Program or any other OPP program. The OPP’s Community Bear Program is sponsored by Aviva Canada Inc.

Through the sponsorship, Aviva Canada Inc. provides OPP officers with black and white teddy bears which OPP officers give to traumatized children they encounter when they respond to incidents such as motor vehicle collisions.

OPP INVESTIGATE CAR COLLISION WITH TRAIN.
(Tay Valley Township, ON) – Officers from the Lanark County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating a collision between a car and Canadian Pacific Train that occurred at tracks close to Christie Lake North Shore Road, Tay Valley Township.

Police were called to the scene at 7.27pm on Thursday 5th March 2015.

A male occupant of the vehicle received minor injuries. The car was demolished and the train received major damage.

The investigation continues.
