Teenage Angst in Cornwall Ontario – Police Blotter for June 30, 2015 #ccps

ASSAULT

Cornwall, ON – A 14 year old Cornwall youth was arrested on June 29, 2015. It is alleged that on June 28, 2015, she engaged in a verbal argument with her mother, in their residence, in the presence of her aunt. The argument escalated to the point where the youth kicked her mother in the stomach, pushed her aunt, and then made her way out of the residence. The incident continued outside, a short distance away from the residence, where the youth pushed both her mother and her aunt then left the area. Police were contacted and an investigation was conducted. The youth was located the next day and arrested. She was charged with 2 counts of Assault. She was released to appear in court on August 13, 2015. The victims did not sustain any injuries as a result of the assaults. The youth’s name is not being released in accordance with the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

Cornwall, ON – A 21 Cornwall man was arrested on June 29, 2015. It is alleged that on this date he arrived at his residence in an intoxicated state and engaged in a verbal argument with his mother. The argument escalated to the point that another family member indicated she was calling the police. The man attempted to prevent this by grabbing her in the upper arm area. Another family member intervened. The man grabbed her by the arm and pulled her into a railing. Police were contacted and an investigation was conducted. The man was charged with 2 counts of Assault. He was released to appear in court on August 6, 2015. The victims sustained minor injuries as a result of the assaults. The man’s name is not being released in order to protect the identity of the victims.

DOMESTIC ASSAULT WITH A WEAPON

Cornwall, ON – A 29 year old Cornwall man was arrested on June 29, 2015. It is alleged that on June 28, 2015 he assaulted his common-law girlfriend by punching her and striking her with a belt several times. Police were contacted and an investigation was conducted. The man was located at his residence and arrested. He was charged with Domestic Assault with a Weapon and Domestic Assault. He was held in custody for a Bail Hearing. The victim sustained minor injuries as a result of the assault. The man’s name is not being released in order to protect the identity of the victim.

BREACH OF CONDITIONS

(North Stormont) – On June 29, 2015 at approximately 9:50am, Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a residence on Highway 138, North Stormont Township following a report of a youth in breach of conditions imposed from a previous incident. Further details also revealed that the female youth had threatened a family member.

The 17-year-old female was arrested and is charged with;

– Fail to Comply with Conditions of an Undertaking (3 counts)
– Utter Threat

She was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall on August 13, 2015. The name of the accused is being withheld as per provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

 

SHOPLIFT

(North Dundas) – On June 29, 2015 at approximately 6:31pm, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of a theft at a business property on Winchester Main Street, North Dundas Township. Investigation indicated that an adult male had removed store items without paying.

Joshua SIMSER (24) of North Dundas Township was arrested and is charged with;

– Theft Under $5000

He was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Morrisburg on August 4, 2015.
