ASSAULT WITH A WEAPON, BREACH

 

Cornwall, ON – A 15-year-old Cornwall youth was arrested on July 14th, 2015 and charged with assault with a weapon and breach of probation for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged on July 14th, 2015 police attended the youth’s residence for a possible breach complaint. While at the residence the youth threatened to harm police all the while making an aggressive motion with his skateboard. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court at a later date. His name was not released as per provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

 

POSSESSION, POSSESSION FOR THE PURPOSE OF TRAFFICKING, PROCEEDS OF CRIME

 

Cornwall, ON – Paul Bourbonnais, 46 and Zoey Davies- Seguin, 21 both of Cornwall were arrested on July 14th, 2015 and charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession for the purpose of trafficking and proceeds of crime. It is alleged on July 8th, 2015 members of the Cornwall Street Crime Unit executed a search warrant at a McConnell Avenue residence and located a quantity of Methamphetamine and cash. On July 14th, 2015 both individuals attended police headquarters to deal with the matter. They were taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on August 25th, 2015.

 

THEFT UNDER $5000, BREACH

 

Cornwall, ON – A 15-year-old Cornwall youth was arrested on July 14th, 2015 and charged with theft under $5000 and breach of recognizance for failing to abide by house rules. It is alleged on July 14th, 2015 the youth removed a quantity of cash from a woman’s purse and police were contacted to investigate. During their investigation the youth was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as per provisions of the youth criminal justice act.

WARRANT

 

Cornwall, ON – Robert Slemko, 55 of Renfrew was arrested on July 13th, 2015 on the strength of three warrants. It is alleged in 2011 the man breached his probation conditions and failed to attend court for a threats to life charge and warrants were issued for his arrest. On July 13th, 2015 members of the Cornwall Community Police Service attended the O.P.P. detachment in Renfrew as O.P.P. had the man in custody on Cornwall’s warrants. He was taken into custody on the strength of the warrants, transported to Cornwall and held for a bail hearing.

BREACH OF CONDITIONS

 

(South Glengarry) – On July 14, 2015 at approximately 8:50 am, Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry Ontario Provincial Police officers responded to a report of a disturbance at a residence on Lefebvre Road, South Glengarry Township. Investigation indicated a male youth was in contravention of previous release conditions (Keep the Peace and Be of Good Behaviour and Reside at approved address).

 

The 16-year-old male from South Glengarry, Ontario was arrested and is charged with;

– Fail to Comply with Probation Order YCJA (2 counts)
– Fail to Comply with Undertaking YCJA (1 Count)

He was held in custody pending an appearance (bail) at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall.

The name of the accused is being withheld as per guidelines of the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA).

THEFT OF TRAILER HITCHES

(South Stormont) – On July 13, 2015 at approximately 2:49pm, Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a theft of a trailer hitch from the Cornwall Motor Speedway on Cornwall Center Road, South Stormont Township. Investigation indicated that overnight (July 12-13, 2015) a Reece K12000 Trailer Hitch was removed from a vehicle at the location. Further information revealed that two similar thefts of trailer hitches had occurred at this location in the previous month.  Police are seeking the public’s help with any information regarding these thefts.

An investigation continues.

BREAK IN

(North Glengarry) — On July 13, 2015 at approximately 7:20pm SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of a Break and enter at a residence on Concession Road 1, North Glengarry Township.  Investigation indicated that overnight (July 12-13) culprit(s) forcibly entered the home and removed a quantity of assorted alcohol.

In the week of July 6th to July 13th 2015, Hawkesbury OPP officers responded to 267 occurrences. Four break and enter incidents were reported. Eleven incidents of assault and nine incidents of theft were reported.  In the last week, officers investigated one impaired driving related incident.  Out of the 267 occurrences, 31 concluded with accusations.

IMPAIRED DRIVER

(Alfred-Plantagenet, ON) – In the late evening of Saturday July 11th, shortly after 11:30 pm, Hawkesbury OPP officers were dispatched to the scene of a car collision on Concession 3 in Alfred-Plantagenet.

A Toyota Yaris was driven in a ditch where the driver had walked away from the scene of the collision.

Constables Michael Roy and Pascal Boudreau investigated the incident.  They were able to find the driver who had walked to a friend’s house and had fallen asleep.

Interaction with the driver gave the officers reason to believe that he had driven his motor vehicle with his abilities impaired by alcohol.

Consequently, the driver, Afton Rof PENNY (24 yrs) of Ottawal, was charged under the Criminal Code of Canada with the following sections:

–    253(1)(a) Driving While Ability Impaired – motor vehicle (Alcohol and Drug)

–    253(1)(b) Driving with More than 80 mgs. of Alcohol in Blood.

He was later released and scheduled to appear at court in August 5th, 2015 in L’Orignal.

 

 

THEFT OF LAWN TRACTOR AND CHAINSAWS

(Alfred-Plantagenet, ON) On Thursday July 9th, at shortly before 3:30 pm, Constable Michael Roy was sent to investigate the scene of a theft on Concession 9 in Alfred-Plantagenet.

The investigation revealed that a 2 chainsaws and a lawn tractor were stolen from a backyard residence while the owner, who was cutting down trees, had left them outside while he was getting gas. Upon his return, he noticed the items gone.

ITEMS TAKEN:

-17.5 Horsepower Yardworks 46 inch lawn tractor.

-16 inch Stihl Chainsaw, Model Number MS290

-14 inch Stihl chainsaw Model 200T

RIDE CHECKPOINT CHARGES

(Hawkesbury, ON) A 2000 Ford Mustang was stopped at a RIDE checkpoint on July 8, just after midnight on Du Chenail Boulevard in the Town of Hawkesbury.

The traffic stop investigation revealed that the driver had an open container of liquor in the vehicle.  He failed to surrender his driver’s licence, proof of insurance and registration.

François CHANTELOIS (52 yrs) of Grandes-Prairies Boulevard in Montreal was charged under the Highway Traffic Act with the following sections:

–       33(1) Driver fail to surrender licence

–       7(5)(a) Fail to surrender permit for motor vehicle

He was charged under the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act with section 3(1) Fail to surrender insurance card.

Lastly, he was charged under the Liquor Licence Act with section 32(1) Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor.

 

 

STUNT DRIVING

 

(North Glengarry TWP, ON) A speeding vehicle was stopped by Constable Simon Boudreau on Highway 417 near marker 22 in the North Glengarry township on July 11th at approximately 3pm.

The Ford Focus 2015 was seen rolling at 152 km/h where the speed limit is set at 100 km/h.

During the traffic stop an open container of liquor was found in the vehicle.

 

Martin ROBERT (23 yrs) of Vaudreuil-Dorion was charged under the Highway Traffic Act with section 172(1) Race a motor vehicle. 

He was also charged under the Liquor Licence Act with section 32(1) Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor.

His motor vehicle was towed and seized.

The accused is scheduled to appear in court on September 3rd 2015 in L’Orignal.

DOMESTIC INVESTIGATION
(North Dundas) – On July 11, 2015 at approximately 1:11am, Stormont, Dundas &Glengarry Ontario Provincial Police officers responded to a report of a domestic situation at a residence on County Road 3, North Dundas Township. Investigation indicated that an altercation between a female and her common-law spouse resulted in the male being assaulted.

The 42-year-old female from North Dundas Township was arrested and is charged with;

– Assault

She was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall on August 5, 2015. The name of the accused is being withheld in order to protect the identity of the victim.

CAUSING A DISTURBANCE

(North Glengarry) – On July 11, 2015 at approximately 2:47am SD&G OPP Officers responded to a report of a disturbance at Alexandria Main Street, North Glengarry Township.  Investigation revealed that a male was acting irrationally on Main Street by Yelling and Screaming.

Luc Marcel LEROUX (50) of North Glengarry was arrested and is charged with;

– Causing A Disturbance

He was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Alexandria on August 5, 2015.
BREACH OF CONDITIONS
(South Glengarry) – On July 11, 2015 at approximately 3:29am, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of a Motor Vehicle collision on Highway 401, South Glengarry Township.  Investigation revealed that an adult male was in contravention of conditions (Remain within Ontario and Abstain from Consumption of Alcohol or other intoxicating substances) imposed from a previous incident.

Chad WELSH (23) of South Dundas Township was arrested and is charged with;

– Fail to Comply with Conditions of an Undertaking (2 counts)

He was held in custody pending an appearance (bail) at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall.
ASSAULT WITH A WEAPON

(South Glengarry) – On July 12, 2015 at approximately 6:35pm, Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry (SD&G) OPP officers responded to a report of a disturbance at a property on County Road 2, South Glengarry Township. Investigation indicated that an altercation between two adult males resulted in the one assaulting the other.

Daniel QUENNEVILLE (61) of South Glengarry Township was arrested and is charged with;

– Assault with a weapon

He was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Alexandria on August 5, 2015.

 

DOMESTIC INVESTIGATION
(North Dundas) – On July 12, 2015 at approximately 7:24pm, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of a domestic situation at a residence on Winchester Main Street, North Dundas Township. Investigation indicated that an altercation between a male and his ex-girlfriend had taken place and resulted in the female being assaulted.  Investigation also revealed that the female was held against her will and had her personal property damaged.  The adult male was in contravention of several conditions imposed from previous incidents.
The 35-year-old from North Dundas Township was arrested and is charged with;

– Assault (2 counts)
– Assault with a Weapon
– Mischief (2 counts)
– Utter Threats
– Forcible Confinement
– Fail to Comply with Probation Order (18 counts)

He was held in custody pending an appearance (bail) at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall. The name of the accused is being withheld in order to protect the identity of the victim.
DRUGS SEIZED AT TRAFFIC STOP

(South Glengarry) – On July 13, 2015 at approximately 8:35am, SD&G OPP officers intercepted a vehicle on Concession Road 5, South Glengarry Township. The stop resulted in the seizure of a quantity of suspected marihuana from the adult male driver and an adult female passenger.

The Driver, Valentino DI TRAPINI (29) of South Glengarry Glengarry Township was arrested and is charged with;

– Possession of a Controlled Substance – Under 30 Grams

The passenger, Lindsay DOWLING (22) of Cornwall, was arrested and is charged with ;

– Possession of a Controlled Substance – Under 30 Grams

Both were released and are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Alexandria on August 5, 2015.

 

THIS WEEK IN RUSSELL COUNTY NEWS  

(EMBRUN, ON) –In the week of June 29, 2015 to July 6, 2015, the Russell County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to 303 occurrences.  Among those occurrences OPP responded to 21 collisions, 9 thefts, 12 domestics and 2 impaired drivers.

As a result of those occurrences, 40 people were charged with various offences.

Domestic Disputes

Police Officers responded to 12 domestic dispute calls during the week of June 29, 2015 to July 6, 2015.  One male was charged with two counts of criminal harassment, another male was charged with failing to comply with conditions of undertaking, a female was charged with domestic mischief  and spousal assault, and another female was charged with assault with a weapon.

Impaired Drivers

On Tuesday June 30th, 2015, at approximately 10:26pm, OPP officers responded to a single vehicle collision on Route 600 west in The Nation Municipality. The male driver was arrested at the scene for impaired driving, and taken to the detachment for further testing.  At the conclusion of the investigation, Yvan LARIN 63 of The Nation Municipality, was charged with impaired driving and driving over 80mgs.  He was released on a promise to appear in court in L’Orignal on July 22.  Provincial Constable Anne-Christine Gauthier investigated.

On Saturday July 4, 2015, at approximately 7:25pm, OPP officers responded to a report of an erratic driver on Highway 17 in the City of Clarence-Rockland.  Officers located the vehicle in the Canadian Tire parking lot.  The male driver had been drinking and failed a roadside alcohol screening test.  He was arrested and taken to the detachment for further tests.  Robert LAWRIE 66 Point Claire, Quebec, was charged with impaired driving and driving over 80mgs.  He was released on a promise to appear in court in L’Orignal, Ontario on July 22.  Provincial Constable Andre CHARLEBOIS investigated.

Mischief

On Friday July 10, 2015, at approximately 8:00am, OPP officers responded to the Rockland Library for a smashed window.  The damage would’ve taken place during closing time between Thursday July 9, at 8:00pm and Friday July 10, at 8:00am.  The OPP is seeking help from the public and anyone who may have any information on this crime is asked to contact OPP Constable Tammy Barnes at the Embrun detachment at                 613-443-4499

Impaired/Over 80 – All Terrain Vehicle

July 11, 2015

Time – approximately 4:40 pm.

Location – Edwardsburgh/Cardinal Township

On July 11, 2015, while on routine patrol in the Town of Cardinal, police observed a red ATV 4-wheeler being operated on Victoria St. The ATV was traveling northbound on Victoria when observed by police before being stopped on Walker St. in a private drive. Police spoke with the driver and lone occupant on the ATV and detected a strong odor of alcohol. The driver failed the roadside test and was arrested for exceed 80. He was transported to the Prescott Detachment where he provided samples of his breath. A 56 year old male from Edwardsburgh Cardinal Township has been charged with Exceed 80, Drive while under Suspension, Unlawfully drive on Highway, Fail to surrender evidence of insurance, Fail to surrender permit and drive with no plate. He is to appear in Brockville Court at a later date.
