IDENTITY FRAUD, MISCHIEF, CRIMINAL HARRASMENT       

 

Cornwall, ON – An 18-year-old Ottawa woman was arrested on August 4th, 2015 and charged with criminal harassment, identity fraud and mischief. It is alleged during the month of July, 2015 the woman contacted her ex-boyfriend on several occasions despite having been warned by police not to. She also cancelled personal applications that the man had submitted within the city and police were contacted to investigate. On August 4th, 2015 the woman attended police headquarters to deal with the matter. She was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on September 29th, 2015. Her name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.

DRUGS SEIZED AT TRAFFIC STOPS

(South Glengarry) – On July 31, 2015 at approximately 5:17pm, Stormont, Dundas &Glengarry Ontario Provincial Police officers intercepted a vehicle on Highway 401, South Glengarry Township. The stop resulted in the seizure of a quantity of suspected marihuana from two adult males.

Chad MURRAY (19) of Kingston, Ontario was arrested and is charged with;

– Possession of a Controlled Substance – Under 30 Grams

Justin BERUBE (19) of Kingston, Ontario was arrested and charged with;

– Possession of a Controlled Substance – Under 30 Grams

Both males were released and are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall on September 02, 2015.

 

 

(North Glengarry) – On July 31, 2015 at approximately 9:18pm, Stormont, Dundas &Glengarry Ontario Provincial Police officers intercepted a vehicle on County Road 22, North Glengarry Township. The stop resulted in the seizure of a quantity of suspected marihuana from an adult male.

Braedon BALDWIN (21) of North Glengarry, Ontario was arrested and is charged with;

– Possession of a Controlled Substance – Under 30 Grams

The male was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall on September 02, 2015.

 

 

(South Glengarry) – On August 3, 2015 at approximately 12:03pm, Stormont, Dundas &Glengarry Ontario Provincial Police officers intercepted a vehicle on Highway 401, South Glengarry Township. The stop resulted in the seizure of a quantity of suspected marihuana from an adult male.

Dorian ALBERT (29) of Pointe-Claire, Quebec was arrested and is charged with;

– Possession of a Controlled Substance – Under 30 Grams

The male was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall on September 02, 2015.

 

 

(North Glengarry) – On August 1, 2015 at approximately 6:29pm, Stormont, Dundas &Glengarry Ontario Provincial Police officers intercepted a pedestrian on Fair Street, North Glengarry Township. The stop resulted in the seizure of a quantity of suspected marihuana from an adult male.

Patrick PILON (21) of North Stormont, Ontario was arrested and is charged with;

– Possession of a Controlled Substance – Under 30 Grams

The male was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall on September 02, 2015.

DOMESTIC INVESTIGATION

(South Dundas) – On August 1, 2015 at approximately 6:05am, Stormont, Dundas &Glengarry Ontario Provincial Police officers responded to a report of a domestic situation at a residence on Second Street Road, South Dundas Township. Investigation indicated that an altercation between a female and her boyfriend resulted in the male being assaulted. The female also caused damage to her home during the altercation.

The 33-year-old female from South Dundas Township was arrested and is charged with;

– Assault

– Mischief

She was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall on August 18, 2015. The name of the accused is being withheld in order to protect the identity of the victim.

IMPAIRED DRIVER(S)

(South Dundas) – On August 1, 2015 at approximately 11:28pm, Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to a report of a motor vehicle collision on County Road 4, South Dundas Township. The investigation revealed that the adult male driver was under the influence of alcohol and had left the scene of the accident.  Police located the male driver shortly thereafter.

Ian TAIT (31) of South Dundas, Ontario was arrested and is charged with;

– Care or Control of a Motor Vehicle with Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol in blood

– Driving a Motor Vehicle while Impaired

– Fail To Remain (Highway Traffic Act)

He was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Morrisburg on September 1, 2015.

 

(South Stormont) – On August 2, 2015 at approximately 3:02am, Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers intercepted a vehicle on County Road 18, South Stormont Township. The investigation revealed that the adult male driver was under the influence of alcohol.

Blaine DUNLOP (61) of North Dundas, Ontario was arrested and is charged with;

– Care or Control of a Motor Vehicle with Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol in blood

– Care or Control of a Motor Vehicle while Impaired

He was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall on September 8, 2015.

DOMESTIC INVESTIGATION

(North Stormont) – On July 30, 2015 at approximately 11:17pm, Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to a domestic disturbance on Kyle Road in North Stormont Township.  Investigation indicated that an adult male had struck his ex- girlfriends vehicle with his vehicle. The female suffered minor injuries as a result of the collision and was taken to local Hospital.  Further information also revealed that the male threatened the female on an earlier date.

The adult male (46) of North Stormont Township was arrested and is charged with;

–              Assault with a weapon

–              Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle

–              Uttering Threats

He was held in custody (bail) and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall, Ontario.

OPP CHARGE 2 FOR RACING, 3 FOR SEATBELTS

(MALLORYTOWN, ON) – On Sunday, August 2, 2015, at approximately 6:40PM, an officer with the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Highway Enforcement Team (HET) located 2 vehicles, a 2009 BMW and a 2012 Nissan, Altima, racing eastbound on Highway 401 near Mallorytown at an excessive speed.

Both vehicles were safely stopped and the drivers were charged. A 25-year-old male from Spring Valley, NY and a 36 year-old male from Saint-Leonard, QC are each facing 2 counts of Racing a Motor Vehicle contrary to section 172 (1) of the Highway Traffic Act (HTA).  Both vehicles were seized and both men were summoned to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice, Brockville, on September 23, 2015.

Three (3) adult female passengers in the Nissan were not wearing seat belts.  They too, were charged for Passenger – Not wearing Complete Seatbelt Assembly contrary to the HTA.

CHARGES LAID

(South Dundas) – As a result of a sexual assault investigation conducted by members of the Stormont Dundas & Glengarry Ontario Provincial Police, assisted by the SD&G OPP Crime Unit, a 47yr old male resident of South Dundas was arrested on Thursday July 30, 2015.

 

he 47yr old male resident of South Dundas faces charges of:

– Sexual Assault

– Sexual Interference with a person under 16 years of age

– Sexual Exploitation

– Invitation to Sexual Touching under 16years of age

The above charges are in relation to incidents involving a young girl.

The male was held in custody pending an appearance in Cornwall court. The name of the accused is being withheld in order to protect the identity of the victim.

The male driver, Jamie KOOISTRA (25) of South Stormont Township, Ontario was arrested and charged with;

– Possession of a Controlled Substance

He was released on an Appearance Notice and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall September 2, 2015.

 

(South Glengarry) – On July 31, 2015 at approximately 6:14am, a Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer intercepted a vehicle on Highway 401, South Glengarry Township. The stop resulted in the seizure of a quantity of suspected marihuana.

The male driver, Klaus MASSINGER (49) of Burlington, Ontario was arrested and charged with;

– Possession of a Controlled Substance

He was releasedon an Appearance Notice and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall September 2, 2015.

WANTED MALE ARRESTED

(North Dundas) – On July 30, 2015 at approximately 12:57am, Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers intercepted a vehicle at a business on County Road 31, North Dundas Township. Information indicated that the (accused) male driver was wanted by the SD&G OPP. The male fled on foot at the location and was located shortly thereafter.  Investigation also indicated that the male was in contravention of conditions imposed from a previous incident and had previously been involved in a hit and run motor vehicle collision in which he fled from Police.

Joey CINNAMON (35) of North Dundas Township was arrested and is charged with;

– Fail to Comply with Recognizance (2 counts)

– Fail to Attend Court

– Fail to Comply with Undertaking

– Fail to Stop at Scene of Accident

– Possession of Property Obtained by Crime – Under $5000

– Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle

He was held in custody pending a court appearance (bail) at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall.

The Hawkesbury Detachment has received many complaints from the  community regarding a scam concerning the Canada Revenue Agency.

According to the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) website, the CRA warns all taxpayers to beware of telephone calls or emails that claim to be from the CRA but are not. These are phishing and other fraudulent scams that could result in identity and financial theft.

Scam artists often pretend being someone from an official agency to sound credible.

People should be especially aware of phishing scams asking for information such as credit card, bank account, and passport numbers. Credible organizations would never ask for this type of information. Some of these scams refer the would-be victim to a Web site resembling the authentic website of the organization.

On these fraudulent website, the person is asked to verify their identity by entering personal information. You should not click on links included in these emails and websites. Email scams may also contain embedded malicious software that can harm your computer and put your personal information at risk.

When in doubt, ask yourself the following:

  • Does this sound too good to be true?
  • Is the requester asking for information they should already have?
  • Am I confident I know who is asking for the information?

Anyone who receives a suspicious communication should immediately report it to info@antifraudcentre.ca or to the institution that the communication appears to be from.

THEFT OF BOAT

(South Glengarry) – On July 28, 2015, Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a stolen boat. Investigation indicated that between July 24-28, 2015, a 16.5’ Legend, green/cream with green carpeting was taken from a property on County Road 2, South Glengarry Township.

An investigation is continuing.

 

THEFT FROM VEHICLE

(South Stormont) – Overnight July 27-28, 2015 a vehicle was entered while parked at a residence on Long Sault Drive, South Stormont Township. An Iphone 6 was taken.

Police remind vehicle owners to lock unattended vehicles and keep was valuables out of sight…”Lock It or Lose It!”
