Six Passenger Single Vehicle Collision Kills One in Hawkesbury Ontario OPP OCT 22, 2015

FATAL MOTOR VEHICLE COLLISION

– The Hawkesbury Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating a single motor vehicle collision that resulted in one fatality.

At approximately 7:15 pm on Wednesday October 21, 2015, a motor vehicle with six occupants was travelling north on County Road 22 approaching Concession Road 8 in St-Bernardin. For undetermined reason still being investigated, the driver lost control of the vehicle which left the roadway after a curve and entered the ditch where it subsequently rolled over. The vehicle came to final rest on its side on Concession Road 8.

OPP officers, Prescott-Russell Paramedics and Nation Fire Department attended the scene.  Some of the occupants were ejected from the vehicle. Three occupants were transported to a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries. One occupant suffered serious life-threatening injuries and the other serious, non-life threatening injuries. Both were transported to hospitals in Ottawa.

A passenger sustained fatal injuries as a result of the collision; he has been identified as Frederick THERRIEN 17 years old from Hawkesbury Ontario.

The investigation into this fatal collision is ongoing with the assistance of the OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigation Unit (T.T.C.I.)

The highway remained closed for approximately twelve hours but has since been reopened. No charges have been laid at this time due to the on-going investigation.
