House of Lazarus Theft Bust – SD&G #OPP Round Up FEB 1, 2016

DRUGS SEIZED AT TRAFFIC STOPS

(South Dundas) – On January 29, 2016 at approximately 9:07am, a Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer intercepted a vehicle on Highway 401, South Dundas Township. The stop resulted in the seizure of a quantity of suspected marihuana.

A male passenger, Scott JAMES (26) of Brighton, Ontario was arrested and is charged with;

– Possession of a Controlled Substance – Under 30 Grams

He was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Morrisburg on March 1, 2016.
(South Glengarry) – On January 30, 2016 at approximately 11:16am, an OPP Highway Safety Division (HSD) officer intercepted a vehicle on Highway 401, South Glengarry Township. The stop resulted in the seizure of a quantity of suspected marihuana.

A male passenger, Douglas SWEENEY (22) of Oshawa, Ontario was arrested and is charged with;

– Possession of a Controlled Substance – Under 30 Grams

He was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Alexandria on March 2, 2016.

NEEDaWebsite-300x250DOMESTIC INVESTIGATION

(North Glengarry) – On January 28, 2016 – SD&G OPP began an investigation into a domestic situation at a residence in North Glengarry Township. Investigation indicated that an altercation between an adult male and his girlfriend resulted in the male causing damage to her vehicle. He was also in contravention of conditions imposed from previous incidents.

The 39-year-old male was arrested and is charged with;

– Mischief Under $5000
– Fail to Comply with Probation Order (5 counts)

He was held in custody pending an appearance (bail) at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall. His name is being withheld in order to protect the identity of the victim.

THREE CHARGED WITH THEFT

(North Dundas) – On January 31, 2016 at approximately 12:20am, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of a theft in progress at a property (House of Lazarus) on Simms Street, North Dundas Township. Officers intercepted three (3) adults in the process of removing various items.

A male, Gregory FORCED (23) of North Grenville and females; Emerisse EDGLEY (32) and Angelena COUGHLER (23) both of Ottawa, Ontario were arrested and each charged with;

– Theft Under $5000

All were released and scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Morrisburg on March 1, 2016.

EXCESSIVE SPEEDS

(SD&G) – Over the past weekend, SD&G OPP officers conducting speed measuring enforcement in SD&G intercepted the following vehicles for traveling at excessive speeds. In all stops, the vehicle was impounded and the driver’s permit seized for seven (7) days in accordance to policy.

– January 29, 2016 – 9:17am; vehicle stopped travelling 138km/h (80km/h zone) on County Road 31, South Dundas Township. Male driver (24) from South Dundas Township charged accordingly.

– January 29, 2016 – 9:58am; vehicle stopped travelling 134km/h (80km/h zone) on Highway 138, North Stormont Township. Female driver (32) from South Stormont Township charged accordingly.

– January 30, 2016 – 9:32pm; vehicle stopped travelling 152km/h (100km/h zone) on Highway 401, South Glengarry Township. Male driver (23) from Toronto, Ontario charged accordingly.
