Ottawa Police Seek Public Assistance in Robbery Investigation #OPS March 2, 2016

The Ottawa Police Service Robbery Unit is investigating the robbery of a convenience store and is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect responsible.

On February 25, 2016, at approximately 10:15am, a lone male entered a convenience store situated along the 2600 block of Alta Vista Drive near Bank Street.  The suspect, armed with a knife, pushed the store employee to the floor and held the knife to his throat. The suspect removed a quantity of cash from the register and fled the premises. The victim sustained a small laceration but did not require further medical treatment beyond that provided at the scene by Ottawa Paramedic Service.

The suspect is described as being a black male, approximately 18-25 years of age, thin build, approximately 5’11″(180 cm). The suspect may have had a mole near his mouth. At the time the suspect was wearing a dark vest over a black hooded jacket.

“This suspect was more violent than what we often see,” said S/Sgt. Michael Haarbosch, Ottawa Police Robbery Unit. “We need the public’s assistance to identify him in order that we can quickly locate him before anyone else is hurt.”
