SD&G #OPP Weekend Round UP March 7, 2016

DRUGS SEIZED

(South Glengarry) – On March 4, 2016 at approximately 8:05pm, a Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer intercepted a vehicle on Highway 401, South Glengarry Township. The stop resulted in the seizure of a quantity of suspected marihuana.

The male driver, Michel ALLAIN (49) of Saint-Louis, New Brunswick was arrested and is charged with;

– Possession of a Controlled Substance

He was released and scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Alexandria on April 6, 2016.
(North Stormont) – On March 4, 2016 at approximately 6:58pm, an OPP Highway Safety Division (HSD) officer intercepted a vehicle for travelling at excessive speed on Highway 138, North Stormont Township. The stop also resulted in the seizure of a quantity of suspected marihuana and brass knuckles.

The male driver, Jason GAUTHIER (36) of Cornwall, Ontario was arrested and is charged with;

– Possession of a Controlled Substance
– Unauthorized Possession of a Weapon
– Stunt Driving (speed) – (Highway Traffic Act)

He was released and scheduled to appear on criminal charged at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall on April 26, 2016.

DOMESTIC INVESTIGATIONS

(South Glengarry) – On March 6, 2016 at approximately 2:50am, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of a domestic situation at a property on Boundary Road, South Glengarry Township. Investigation indicated that an altercation between an adult female and her boyfriend resulted in the man being assaulted.

The 28-year-old female from South Glengarry Township was arrested and is charged with;

– Assault-Spousal

She was released and scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall on March 22, 2016.
(South Stormont) – On March 6, 2016 at approximately 9:20pm, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of a domestic situation at a residence on Maloney Road, South Stormont Township. While at the scene, officers observed several firearms improperly stored.

A 47-year-old male from South Stormont Township was arrested and is charged with;

– Careless Storage of a Firearm (4 counts)
– Breach of Firearm Regulation (4 counts)

He was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall on May 10, 2016.

UTTER THREATS

(North Stormont) – On March 5, 2016 at approximately 11:47am, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of a threat incident at a residence in North Stormont Township. Investigation indicated that an adult male had been threatened by another.

Frederico BELMONTE (45) of South Stormont Township was arrested and is charged with;

– Utter Threats
– Fail to Comply with Recognizance (previous incident)

He was held in custody pending an appearance (bail) at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall.

DANGEROUS OPERATION OF A SNOWMOBILE

(North Dundas) – As a result of an ongoing investigation, SD&G OPP have charged an adult male. On February 19, 2016, officers responded to a report of a snowmobile being operated in a dangerous manner at a property on County Road 1, North Dundas Township. Investigation indicated that on February 18&19, 2016, the noted vehicle had traveled near a ski path and recreational area of private property where several pedestrians were present causing some to take evasive action.

The male driver, Joel BINGGELI (32) of North Dundas Township was identified and arrested on March 1, 2016. He is charged with;

– Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle

He was released and scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Morrisburg on April 5, 2016.

BREAK-IN

(North Glengarry) – Overnight (March 4-5, 2016), culprit(s) entered the Landfill Site on County Road 23, North Glengarry Township and removed a kerosene heater, drill and grass trimmer from a shed on the property.

An investigation continues.
