BREACH
Cornwall, ON – A 33-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on March 16th, 2016 and charged with breach of recognizance for having communicated with his ex-girlfriend despite his conditions. It is alleged the man communicated with his ex-girlfriend on March 15th, 2016 despite his conditions and police were contacted to investigate. On March 16th, 2016 the man attended police headquarters to deal with the matter. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.
ASSAULT
Cornwall, ON – A 21-year-old man of no fixed address was arrested on March 16th, 2016 and charged with assault. It is alleged during an argument on March 8th, 2016 the man assaulted his girlfriend and police were contacted to investigate. During their investigation the man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.
DRUG WARRANT
Cornwall, ON – Claude Gareau, 66 of Cornwall was arrested on March 16th, 2016 and charged with possession of cocaine, possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of marijuana, property obtained by crime (cash) and possession of a prohibited weapon. It is alleged the Cornwall Street Crime Unit executed a drug warrant on March 16th, 2016 at a Cumberland Street address and located a quantity of cocaine, marijuana, Canadian currency and pepper spray. Claude Gareau was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on April 21st, 2016.
ASSAULT, ASSAULT CAUSE BODILY HARM, SEXUAL ASSAULT, MISCHIEF
Cornwall, ON – As a result of an investigation by the Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Unit a 44-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on March 16th, 2016 and charged with two counts of assault, two counts of mischief, sexual assault and assault cause bodily harm. It is alleged between August, 2015 and January, 2016 the man punched his 45-year-old girlfriend and pushed her 22-year-old daughter. He also damaged a clock and punched a hole in the wall. The man is also alleged to have pushed his girlfriend causing her to fall and seek medical attention and to have sexually assaulted her on another occasion. The man was charged accordingly and was held in custody for a bail hearing being held on March 18th, 2016. His name was not released as it would identify the victims in the matter.
